This card can be a huge help producing green mana, or just about anything if you can get it out on the field. Attach to it any card that untaps a creature card, such as freed from the real, or instill energy, and she can produce 4 or more green mana turn along with any other shamans you might have. Its arguable whether this is a better set up than using druids who can also pair up to produce different kinds of mana, but it certainly helps. The orochi sustainer, orochi leafcaller, sakura-tribe scout, and sakura-tribe springcaller, and shizuko, caller of autumn are all snake shamans that can benefit from this card as well as any snake gaining the + to defense such as coiling oracle. For green/red decks soulbright flamekin is an elemental shaman who can produce an extra 2 red mana if you spend 6 on it initially to give creatures trample.

Funny, it diesn't say "Shaman creatures you control", so you can tap your Thornbite Staff for mana when she's out.
Actually, it works pretty well if you have the staff. Not only it can tap for mana, but the equipped creature also pretty much gains "Whenever a creature dies, add GG to your mana pool".
