I am very surprised that no one has commented on O-Night!
Oh well, I shall be first then<3!
This card is pretty much amazing, one of the few gems that comes from Kamigawa block. If you combo it with That Which was Taken . . . it completely locks down your opponent similarly to how a Legend Nicol Bolas would shut down your opponent after the first swing.
All in all, a wonderfully designed card.

granted, but when used along with this lockdown it's worth using it. but you overstate this card, this combo certainly does not make it 5/5. in general, it's the worst one from the Myojin cycle. An indestructible 5/2 eight-drop is not that cheap. and forcing an opponent to discard his or her hand in lategame is not such a tragedy as well i think, unless you can force him to do so every upkeep... the other myojinns don't create a lock, but they are often more useful as a single card: Cleansing Fire 4/6 --> Wrath of Godexcept himself Infinite Rage 7/4 --> Armageddon Life's Web 8/8 --> Eureka for you Seeing Winds 3/3 --> Massive card advantage well ok, the latter isn't the best one either (they apparently over-nerved this guy during playtesting), but you will in most cases draw more than your opponent is able to discard, though.

Who The Hell Has A Hand On Turn 8 LOL. Love The Artwork Though To Bad The Card Sucks Id Just Keep His Ass Indestructible
The strongest Myojins are white, red and green, but the black and blue ones really got shafted. The blue one is useless as a creature, and this one has kind of a weak ability. I'd rather keep 5 indestructible power on the table than have my opponent discard one or two cards that late in the game. It would be cool if he just played mind spring or something, but it's just way too situational.

Dude is downright devastating in EDH where hands are maintained for card advantage.
I know I've been shellacked by this guy on more than one occasion to cause me to lose the EDH game.

@PKleck Yeah, people who tend to play this, jhoira, and/or eldrazi tend to get removed from EDH multi-players fairly quickly, and in edh people tend to maintain hand sizes.
@Laguz You have obviously never drawn 23 cards from the blue myojin alone and then proceeded to Rush of Knowledge for another 10. xD
@Mode You'd want to pop the counter after an opponents draw if anything, not during their upkeep.
@MrPink343 If you don't like having friends.

I would love to simply pop this out first turn by the glory of four Dark Rituals. Granted, the chance of that happening is nigh-impossible, but it WOULD be impressive.
its a 3 letter format begining with e, ending with h.
So some clever guy casted this, then somebody else (with leyline of anticipation in play) went Take Possession . Many sad faces broke out as the mono blue guy yet again pooped on the fun

Yes, this was meant to be played in multi-player.
I use Maralen of the Mornsong as my general and tutor for this whenever I have eight mana. Before playing the myojin, I've already played megrim or liliana's caress or Quest for the Nihil Stone. Half the cards in my deck are discard spells. Necropotence is my win condition alongside venser's journal ;P

This comment section, gatherers, had made me lose a little faith in humanity.
Does no one play multiplayer games? Does no one have the foresight to notice that this card makes all opponents discard, not just one? Or did people not care? (Except for a few of you)
Everyone, do yourselves a favor, go and play a game with four or more people. More than four even!
You'll laugh.
You'll cry.
You'll win some and lose some.
You'll see dumbtastic game states develop. But most of all, you'll start looking at the game in a whole different way.
And that, my friends, is the cosmic prospective.

Yep, upon close inspection, there is a female face in the midst of the robes and hands. And @The_S(chmuck)turm, thanks for providing us with a comment that is as lacking in thought as it is short. This is an interesting card, and the top comment is a reference to a simple removal spell. For shame, comment raters, for shame. inb4 "ur a comment snob," etc.

apparently this 'a really weak ability' according to some.
Umm...you know that it is in fact AT LEAST a Mind Twist every time? and that Mind Twist is considered too powerful for Legacy? and this does sooo much more than Mind Twist in a multiplayer game.
Mind Twist may not be Armageddon or Wrath of God if people have flushed their hands onto the field- but in a duel, you can build a control deck to keep them from doing that, backing up their hands with cards they can't risk playing- then make them discard all their hands anyway.

This is not a bad myojin. It can be amazing. Do the rest of the myojins combo with things like Lilliana's Caress and Megrim? It's a very good card in a discard EDH such as Crosis, the Purger.

As mentioned in other comments, play this in multiplayer at the risk of having everyone hate you. This card would make sense in an Archenemy deck. It's that evil, and besides everyone is your enemy to start with.

I can't hate this card. I mean, everything about it is just meh. Then I read that last ability... All I see now is instant speed discard. Catastrophically priced, but instant all the same. 4/5 for that alone
Proliferate makes this a free discard engine whenever you want once it hits the field.

I consider this card to be one of the one-card-win-cons in EDH. Definitely deserves a much higher rating.

One of the Few Creatures Nicol Bolas wants to take out Personaly, in fact he might already have acording to Future Sight's novel.
That aside, I've noticed its EDH players that find the true value in cards. They understand Standerd better then most standered players, Win more Drafts then others. I mean anyone who thinks that the Blue and Black Myojins got shafted obviously has never played effectively with them.
While its usefullness MAY be limited in certian formats, if you can sneak it past a blue player then use its ability, it always Hoses the blue player.

I have him in my EDH reanimator decklist. It fights control and combo pretty effectively. 99% of strategies are based off of drawing cards to beat your opponents in edh (even aggro needs card draw or they die). If your opponent's hand is empty at any point in the game, there is likely something really really wrong happening. This card, (Much like Karn Liberated) just stops all the bad things from happening and lets you punish your opponents for being greedy. Also, works well with Iname, Death Aspect to earn you some serious flavor points. It costs almost literally the same as Mind Twist for 7 and instead of screwing one opponent, you screw all of them. Seems fine to me. If you have him in play, you are in a very good situation. It's a lot like a black Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur that doesn't draw you cards. It also can be used to make sure the blue player at the table doesn't do anything to you. If he does something, pop this sucker's divinity counter and everyone will kill him for his stupidity. A less mean version of this card to consider is Scythe Specter. I think the only reason this card is rated so low, is that people didn't read what it does and just saw it as an 8 mana 5/2. I'm really disappointed in you guys.
5/5 (this card is nuts)

Works wonders in a Child of Alara EDH deck. Leave the counter on it long enough to survive the dead baby, and then when everyone has next to no board remove the counter to put them into topdeck mode. Almost always wins the game. Myojin of Infinite Rage does this even better, but has a higher cmc. Note that in casual playgroups "better" can become "not fun to play against", however. Due to triple red/black in the casting cost it can sometimes be tough to get them out, though.
