A bit of an interesting if unintuitive combo here.
If you've got the Helm of Kaldra, Sword of Kaldra and Shield of Kaldra in play you can activate for mister 9/9 First strike, trample, haste, Indestructible, exile deathtouch. Then equip him with Whispersilk Cloak and attack. First strike damage step, 9 to the dome. Then at end of the fist strike combat damage step tap one little swamp and BAM! 6 more damage on skullsnatcher during the regular combat damage phase as he comes into play duel wielding a pair of Ronin Warclubs.
Next turn simple pay {3}, {1} to make a new token and {2} to make it an unblockable 13/11 monstrosity.
Why would you do this you may ask? why, for fun of course. This is like a technicality goldmine for johnnies.

@ evenblackerlotus That's why Forgeling said: "for fun of course." You should try having fun yourself; it IS a game after all.

Am I the only one that thinks that Kaldra is a little over-powered? I mean, once you get all three pieces out, he's a little unstoppable. He's indestructible, so you can't outright kill him. He instantly removes things from the game on contact. Plus he has all the abilities from the helm. Even if you tried to Mind Control it or target it with something like a Soul Nova, the helm doesn't state that you can't make another kaldra. Thanks to the legend rule, as soon as you make another kaldra token, they are both destroyed, so there is no legal target there when the spell resolves. Then, again thanks to the helm, for just one mana, he's right back onto the field. The only way to stop him is to get rid of the shield or one of the other pieces, which can be easily prevented with the likes of Leonin Abunas.

Kaldra plus Mirror Gallery, as many 4/4s as you want for 1 mana each as well as the 9/9 Kaldra monstrosity.

This card alone isn't a good option. It´s too Pricey for giving first strike, haste and trample.
If you don´t have the three Kaldra's itens, give up on it.
If you like the abilities, try out Akroma's Memorial. It's expensive, but a bit better, and Master Transmuter or Arcum Dagsson can solve this problem.

But.... of course. Putting the Legendary Token by {1} is very unfair and useful for sacrificing combos.

Ah, man, I pulled off an amazing combo with these guys in my Kor Equipment deck. Using a Stoneforge Mystic and a Stonehewer Giant, I got all the Kaldra equipment on a Kor Duelist and swung, and then used the Stonehewer to drop a Worldslayer on the monster and BAM! Everything's dead except for the 6/6 doublestrike monster with a sword of kaldra in one hand and a worldslayer in the either. Ah man, the deck is like a comic book monster!

The three equipments on a 0/1 plant.

I find that to be highly amusing.

What if you had more than one of one of the equipments (say, with a mirror gallery)? Would it put all of them on the new Kaldra, or only one?

I just notice that, if you have spare mana, you can attack with the Avatar, then make another to destroy it under legend rule, then make a third, which would be untapped for defense.

evenblackerlotus, I play in a competitive vintage casual group. We make decks that win on turn three on a bad day. Even then, we have fun with our games. Lrn2Magic, dick. Then come back and talk to us.

question, when it says put the equipment on the kaldra token, does that mean take that equipment off of everything else or does it just mean you get one extra of each equipment to put on the token? i know its legendary but maybe that's some kind of loophole?

I never noticed until recently that the original cards (the physical copies) have a typo: It doesn't create a legendary creature. It creates a Legend, a creature type. When Wizards changed how legends/legendaries worked, they changed the type line of the equipment, but forgot to change the rules text.

...AND I'LL FORM THE HEAD!!!

Helm of Kaldra is nice on something which can already protect itself like Troll Ascetic, otherwise the shield is preferable, even though it costs more.

@Shard_Fenix, that's not so much a typo. Being an 'Avatar Legend' was the same as being a 'Legendary Creature - Avatar'. Just different wording. It was still affected by the legends rule, just like it is now, and there was no more a way to abuse it back then as there is now.

I absolutely love Kaldra. Separately, the peices are pretty decent, but getting Kaldra on the field can really *** people off. He's basically unstoppable in his own right, and there are many, many ways to keep him and his precious equipment protected.

Kaldratron. I love him. I really wish WoTC would make more card sets like this.

I'd like to see something with the Living Weapon Mechanic like this:
{3} Living Weapon, Equipped creature gets +3/+3 If you control artifact equipment X or Y you may attach this to whatever one of them are equipped to
and {2} Living Weapon, if you control artifact equipment X or Z you may attach this to whatever one of them is equipped to.
and {1} Living Weapon, if you control... well, you get the idea. It would be interesting at least.

@Shard_Fenix: The "Legend creature type" was removed in Kamigawa, which was the block after Mirrodin. When this card was printed, Legend was a creature type and Legendary only applied to non-creature permanents.

These 3 + Warstorm Surge, repeatable damage for 1.
Its interesting, would deal 9 damage the first go, then 4 with both tokens being destroyed, then 9 again, ect. Check the rulings on Warstorm surge to see what I mean.

Ashnod's Altar for infinit mana which can come in handy in EDH. Alternatively if your playing black use Tainted Strike for that extra +1 power for a full dose of lethal poison.

The new Legendary rule for M14 makes the Kaldra Avatar so much better than he already was. Now, he can't be stolen as long as you have 1 to spend. All you have to do is activate the Helm's 1 ability and create a new Avatar, destroying the old one, keeping the new one. You keep your avatar, your opponent's steal targets something that no longer exists, and you're in the clear! Basically, the new Legend rule gives it: "1: Opponents cannot gain control of Kaldra."

The Timmy in me wants make this "Kaldra" business actually happen and then equip Argentum Armor and Lightning Greaves on him because, ya' know, those are his missing accoutrements--and that would be pretty bad ass too!

The Timmy in me also, incidentally, couldn't care less about the whole-grain fiber in his Frosted Mini-Wheats.

I love Kaldra. He can kill an Eldrazi for good. He has pseudo hexproof, pseudo vigilance and can use any ETB trigger over and over for one mana. PLUS ALL OF THE FUN STUFF THAT THE EQUIPMENT ITSELF DOES FOR ANY CREATURE! That being said the pieces have almost no place in constructed. Commander can use them in the right deck though! They would be easy to get out with Arcum Dagsson, Godo, Bandit Warlord or Captain Sisay. Plus any tutor heavy deck could easily combo the pieces with Worldslayer, Ashnod's Altar or anything like Warstorm Surge.
