This art's a little disappointing, but it IS an opportunity to obtain a pretty rad card.

Definitely liked the old art better. It looks like she's riding some sort of weird...chocobo...thing in this.
iHeartMtg - I don't think that's Manaforce; hers has shaped flanges, whereas Manaforce Mace looks like it's just straight-edged polygons for each side.

This art is a lot better, I think. The old one suffered from Bloodbraid syndrome. Standing in one spot and doing nothing does not show a creature's capabilities. Also of note- She's a mythic now! It was first printed in the block mythics were introduced, so the upgrade kind of confuses me, but I guess they didn't want to put brand-new mythic knight Hero of Bladehold in because Besieged just came out and they want you to buy packs too.

New art is so much better than the old art. Blows my mind how many people like the boring, just chilling looking to the left vanilla soldier. This thing is active and stylish. Reynolds is probably my favorite card artist. Look at Wild Nacatl and weep. Also- Check out that shield she's holding. It's peculiarly long and pointy, and seems to have a sleeve at broad end (check a large res image). Could it also serve as a lance? I vote absolutely.

First off, Wayne Reynolds is a Bawss. AND this card is amazing.
Second off: I was really excited this was getting reprinted, then I found out it was promoted to Mythic Status...........
Why wasn't this just a mythic in the first place? Is Stoneforge Mystic gonna get promoted just because it was better than people expected?
I am disappoint. (Drops the Mic)

works great with fetch lands. definitely worth being the centerpiece and holo of the knights deck, and it has good utility in other decks too.
Knight of the Reliquary is one of the biggest powerhouses in my landfall deck. Possibly one of my favorite cards ever! 5/5, no question.

Before I say anything about the art (ehem, old version, *cough*) let me say that this is one of my favorite cards in MTG. This plus Lotus Cobra is nearly impossible to stop. Lets think about the infinite application for KotR-
-Mana-fixing made easy. -Early game 4/4 that gets bigger easily. -Recycle used mana mid-turn. -Turn 3 Baneslayer Angel with Lotus Cobra. -Thins out your deck quickly. etc etc etc
Great flavor text, great title, great artwork, endless usability, all for 3 measly mana. Win.

This flashy new art pales in comparison to the deep and characterful old art. People who prefer this version are probably the same people who like brainless, action-packed Hollywood films filled with inane one-liners.
There, I said it.

it took me several looks before I realized how good this card is. at first I thought it was just another 2/2 that pumps itself each turn. then I realized that you could use the land saccing ability to mana fix. THEN I realized it isn't just basics, it's any land. THEN I realized that the land didn't even come into play tapped.
so not only are you pumping your creature, your mana fixing and mana ramping. and don't even get started on fetchlands...

This is one of two cards I know of where Michael Komarck did the initial artwork, and Wayne Reynolds followed up with a promo version; the other card being Rafiq of the Many.
Dunno why that sounded important, but hey, the more you know!
Both images are excellent; I love Wayne Reynolds for his great stylization of characters, and Michael Komarck has some great detail in his pieces (my personal favorite being Horizon Canopy).
I don't like how "papery" the armor looks. I don't know why it appears in this art and in new Rafiq's art, since Wayne Reynolds usually makes armor look much better.
That said, freaking awesome card.

play with crucible of worlds for a fallback plan or to just get a lot of lands out--become {T} search your library for a land and put it into play--you won't have to worry about the dead land draw-back. with tideforce elemental, you basically can pull all the lands out of your deck and then, with the crucible, have no problem getting playing one each turn, that way you're always drawing something useful. just need a card like stormtide leviathan to keep the combo running.

Way too easy to get synergy with it, boring and overpowered. Stupid picture. Everything I need to call something a half-star card. Shares that sacred spot with Tarmogoyf as one of the few cards I will ever rate that way, for similar reasons. Though nothing really tops Tarmogoyf as far as these criteria are concerned, so maybe I will give this 1 star.

I appreciate this card on power, I guess, but I dislike it just barely slightly on Flavor, as it doesn't seem to be quite right at all for 'Knight Tribal'- from a Vorthos perspective anyway. This one is clearly a 'Lone Ranger' type, and my reaction to it is they've been a lot of places, seen a lot of things, and it's that experience they have that gives them their strength.
In some ways, it draws power from lands almost in the same way a Wizard or a Planeswalker does! While that is very neat flavor indeed, for a singleton Mythic creature card in some of my decks, for Knight Tribal I would prefer to put in Juniper Order Ranger as my Green-White creature. I don't know that's just how I think...

It is reprinted at Mythic status because it's the focal point of the Knights half of the deck. Just like in Divine vs Demonic, where Lord of the Pit was printed at Mythic, not because it needed to be at that rarity, or because it was that absurd, but because it was the focal point of that deck, KotR is key. Yes, Mythics were introduced in that set. But KotR is playable in it's power, and Wizards has said they don't want to print Mythics that dominate formats. In that vein, Hero of Bladehold will not make waves in Legacy, or probably even Modern, and even only saw fringe play in Standard. But she's powerful. She plays well with others. And newer players, pulling her as a Mythic in a pack, will see her being a lot more powerful than they see KotR. And that's exactly what the Mythic rarity is for. To make new players think thu just pulled something jaw-droopingly powerful. A new player will think, "This is good." Looking at KotR. Looking at Lorthos, they'll think, "This is incredible." The difference is important.

Terrible, terrible, ridiculous artwork! Why, oh why?!! Did they change it. **** Wizards and **** Wayne Reynolds for this crappy art. The other one is infinitely better. Actually, the other one is one of the best pics in MtG.

This guy can search for fetchlands and let you crack them in the same turn — and give himself a permanent +2/+2 in the process. That hardly seems fair. Pumps a creature, fixes mana, thins your deck, all in one three-mana package. No wonder he sees crazy play in Legacy, this guy's incredible!! 100/5

I don't get why people are hate-reating this 0.5 or 1 star. Yes, he's fairly powerful by himself he has great interactions with a lot of cards, but isn't this exactly what we are looking for in card design? 4.5/5 just because I don't have anywhere I would play it right now.

And the card's mechanics are incredible, at the least. Not even mana-fixing; fetching utility lands at instant speed, getting them to the battlefield in the same ability, and being able to do anything from exiling an opponent's graveyard to granting your creatures protection to stopping an attacking creature...it gets awesome, once you get thinking.
5/5 for flavor, mechanics, BOTH versions of art, and conceptualization.
