Oh god, they dun goofed with this double faced card business on gatherer ._. Who wants to comment on half of a card? Anyways Cloistered Youth is cute enough, and a good example of top-down design. She could have been a little more interesting or powerful though. 3.5/5

I just hate the word Cloister. Just say the phrase "Moist cloister" to yourself several times and you feel disgusted.

Little Girl decks always have some way to turn her into a threat.

Two mana for a 3/3?
Even with the life payment, that's a pretty good deal.

Inefficient creature, one turn, Watchwolf with a minor drawback the next? Yes.

...the hell? You can only comment on half a card? That's pretty much the dumbest thing ever. And I had so much to say about this one too...curse you wizards, you're doing it wrong.

@axiobeta and @Laguz The comment section is obviously intended for the whole card. You're not commenting on "half a card." Yeah, it's annoying that they only put one image up there, but I'm just glad they didn't make two comment sections. Think of it like the Kamigawa flip cards... there was only one comment section there, even though you couldn't turn the card upside-down up there above the comments.
Anyway, as for the card, it's pretty solid. Think about it.. white can now pay two mana and (if they can keep it alive for one turn) end up with a 3/3 that's immune to Doom Blade. Very solid, especially at Uncommon. And she's enough of an early-game card that the life payment hardly matters.

I like girl, and have many respect for them. But I can't conceptualize than this one can blocks and kills Homicidal Brute... Should be a 0/1, and Unholy Fiend a 4/3 or 3/4...
I saw this card and immediately thought about River from Firefly. The Cloistered Youth pose is so reminiscent of her.

All of you that doubt the power of this girl to brawl it out with the other monsters of MTG should understand that appearances can be deceiving. Just look at Insidious Bookworms...

I do love me some Exorcist brand flavor text ala Ellen Burstyn. When I look at Unholy Fiend, I can almost imagine her shouting "MERRIN!!!"

@Zetan: "I'm just glad they didn't make two comment sections" Actually, you are commenting on two halves of a card. Here's the second half (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Discussion.aspx?multiverseid=221222)

Probably the most disturbing flavor text i've ever read.
I would have preferred the ability to be: "At the beginning of your upkeep, if there is a black permanent on the battlefield, you may transform Cloistered Youth." Then to reliably flip the card you would have to have a little black commitment, but if you wanted to risk it you could play without black and hope your opponent drops a black card. And the ability is more flavorful to boot (in this version, why is the girl getting possessed if there are only plains and humans in play)?

Awesome flavor. Iconic top-down Innistrad design. In terms of play, it could make a passable aggro drop, though it doesn't quite work with Human tribal, or anything else for that matter. The inverse correlation of flavor and playability strikes again.
