Yay! Fling is back. Unfortunately I already have a playset ;)

I love this card in so many different ways. Yeah, it is mostly trumped by Soul's Fire... but maybe I don't WANT the creature to live! Maybe I want to see it go splat!
it would be cool to have a goblin/equip deck built around this and equips that increase power, but why not use spikeshot goblin? sigh, i hate gay cards...

It is possible to fling an Emrakul. Sacrificing Emrakul to fling doesn't target it, so its protection from colored spells ability does nothing.

Combos nicely with Act of Treason, whack 'em with their own fatty then kill it! haha.
Um, is the flavor text a reference to Orcish Cannoneers? If so, good job WotC.
Oh, and good job reprinting such an awesome card.

Turn 1- Mountain, Goblin Guide, opponent at 18
Turn 2- Mountain, Guide again, opponent at 16, end of turn Plated Geopede
Turn 3- Arid Mesa into Mountain (2 landfall triggers), Guide and Geopede attack, opponent at 9, end of turn, fling Geopede, opponent at 4, and Lightning Bolt puts opponent at 1.
Let's assume that your opponent cracked a fetched on turns 1 or 2 just to make it look like a turn 3 win ;p

Fling is a fairly innocuous card until it's put into a deck that's meant to abuse it. The obvious choice is with Abyssal Persecutor, but for the truly wild, there's Ajani Goldmane. Few victories are more stunning and ridiculous than flinging Ajani's avatar token.

The funniest way to use fling is use act of treason on enemy creature and then fling it at them splat
enemy "Haha i just put primeevil titan on the field you are dead hehe"

Running this in a U/B Kiln Fiend deck, not sure if I like this or Soul's Fire better as a finisher. Soul's Fire is better if it's not quite a kill yet, but this synergies so nicely with another card in that deck, Act of Treason...

Combine with Goblin Arsonist. Goblin Arsonist hits for one they don't block because its a 1/1. Fling it after he attacks causing 1 damage then because of Goblin Arsonists ability do another point of damage.
Goblin grenade right there :D
Or attack with Tuktuk the Explorer do one damage then fling him doing one more point. After that put a 5/5 Token onto the field.

Probably the only non-Scars of Mirrodin card I'll run in my multiMyr-Furnace Celebration deck. Basically to chuck a Ferrovore in their face after doing a bunch of Celebratory damage to build him up.
The fact that it's fun, versatile and flavourful is just gravy.

Combined with Act of Treason, this can be very funny. Last draft, end of the game, my Inferno Titan got Mind Controlled, my opponent thought he had me. On my turn, Act of Treason, Attack + Fling, FTW! The guy left the table without shaking my hand.

this with kiln fiend, a couple of lightning bolt, ponder, distortion strike, preordain, attack with kiln fiend then just fling kiln fiend. life remaining= -6 in one turn

Does using this on a Klin Fiend trigger the creature's +3/0 abillity? I used Pyretic ritual and Lightning bolt with this on the third turn and based on my calculations, I should be able to deal 14 damage in this turn.

I'm making a deck based on using the opponent's creatures against himself. Just once i'd like to see my opponent play a baneslayer angel, and then, during my turn:
traitorous instinct, assault strobe, attack, fling, 21 damage for 7 mana total... Even the most poker faced opponent would not be able to keep a straight face when that happened ^^

Why waste your Emrakul on this? Use it with Ajani's 3rd ability token :D
Finally that sweet giant ability without the stupid giant attached!

This has really become my favorite card. I mean with assault strobe and this, a 7/7 creature can kill in one turn. And with Aura Gnarlid (another of my favorite little monsters) an unblockable 7/7 by turn 3 or 4 isnt rare at all.

Oh, did you just sacrifice your fatty for the win? Counterspell. Thanks. ;D
@Zerof89 (this is about kiln fiend + fling in general actually)
Your Kiln Fiend would be essentially dealing 17 dmg in one turn zerof89. Lightning bolt + pyretic ritual makes the fiend a 7/2 + the 3dmg from the lightning bolt so that's 10dmg when the attack phase is over. Then fling for the extra 7, leaving your opponent and a fearfully low 3 life.
You'd rather have a giant growth cast instead of the lightning bolt but you'd have to do all this on turn 3 anyways so you'd have 3 red from pyretic ritual for the lightning bolt + fling and the giant growth would be your last land (if you're smart and running red/green lol)
In general however, Fling becomes a really good card when you dont wanna run red/blue since i run red/green. if you get blocked you have a couple options. If they have blockers, throw an unnatural predation on your kiln fiend(trample becomes really scary on a kiln fiend) and if that's still not enough fling it at them! even if you don't have the un-pred you can at least fling for some solid dmg. and if it isn't over yet it soon will be.
OH also, i a nice bonus to this spell. Reverberate copies the spell AND ALL COSTS PAID WHEN THAT SPELL WAS CAST. So, in lamens terms if you wanna win with an "unblockable" kiln fiend on turn 4 this is how you do it lol
T2: Kiln fiend played
T3: Another land (cultivate or staggershock if you can)
T4: Pyretic ritual. 5 mana in your pool(unless you cultivated then you'd have 6 hopefully). cast a giant growth then staggershock rebounds (or you cast assault strobe or something cheap and easy) so that's 10/2 on the kiln fiend. 4 mana left. Cast fling to sac your massive 10/2 kiln fiend. Use your final 2 red to reverberate the fling's 10 damage, then lol @ your opponent accordingly :)

Amazing for a 3 turn kill. 1st turn: play a mountain and a Raging Goblin, attack with Raging Goblin. Opponents life total 19 2nd turn: play another mountain and Ruby Medallion, attack with Raging Goblin again (hopefully they don't already have a creature or block). Opponents life total 18 3rd turn: play another mountain, attack with Raging Goblin, play 2 Blood Lust for 1 red mana each thanks to ruby medallion (after blocking phase if they don't have a creature or block, before combat damage is assigned), making the Raging Goblin 9/1. Opponents life total 9. Play fling for 1 red mana thanks to Ruby Medallion again, sacrificing the 9/1 Raging Goblin doing 9 damage to the opponent reducing their life total to 0.

@infernox10 fling deals the damage not the creature, so flinging a creature with infect would deal basic damage.

The flavor is good, till you realize that a naked lumberjack is taking things like Emrakul or Blightsteel and throwing them at the opponent's face.
