Potentially abusable with draw spells that target yourself and the like. I can't see that happening outside of casual though.

Ehhhhh...
I would like this card so much more if it was spells or abilities.

Would be effective against burn decks, I suppose. How good it is otherwise depends on whether cards like Divination and Ponder can untap it, but I'm pretty sure they can't.
Reckless Scholar doesn't work because it only untaps when you become the target of a spell, not an ability.

Fairly decent with unbender tine, but I still don't see it breaking any games or winning you any for that matter. Creatures with drawbacks are just.. well.. outdated. They are necessary to keep the game power levels down, but needing something else just to have your creature work weakens it. Your better off playing a 3/3 that you can actually attack with, than a 5/5 you can't use. Even if there is some way to untap it repeatedly, your draining mana into it to keep it that way that you could spend on something else. Even unbender tine, which comes only a turn later and untaps for free, still requires you to at least draw the card and keep it in play, assuming the creature itself doesn't die somehow.
It's fun for combo applications, but realistically won't see much play.. if you really want to try it in standard could go crab umbra.
Oh and this does -not- work with splinter twin.. splinter twin requires you to tap the creature.

just a question: every time it gets tapped, it won't untap during your next untap phase? or does that effect only happen once?

3 for a conditional 5/5 flier? Sure. Why not? It's workable.
Probably my least favorite gomazoa, but it goes good with quest for renewal since it doesn't say anything about untapping on your opponents untap step.

Laziest jellyfish I've ever seen.

Combos well with Sign In Blood and Tome Scour in a B/U deck with graveyard shenanigans. You could also use Amulet of Vigor to improve this card as well as borderposts and the CIP tapped lands.
@Telecaster: After you tap it for attacking or anything for tapping it, it doesnt untap on the untap step ever, so you'll have to find a way to untap it by a source again. Like Tideforce Elemental for instance. Quest for Renewal is also good

To quote one of my favorite video game characters of all time: "It's a big, stupid jellyfish!"
Crab Umbra, lol. I love the thought of giving my Jellyfish crabs.

Use Forked Bolt and hit yourself for 1 and something else for 1 then this untaps

The way I see it, it's a way to keep players from casting spells on you. If they do, they have a 5/5 jelly coming at their face. And this for 3 mana? To me, that's not bad at all...4/5

...Ancestral Recall? I dunno. This thing's kinda janky. And, much to its dismay, Johnny doesn't really care too much about a cheap 5/5 flier with very little use besides swinging :/
Skaab ruinator is a much improved version of this to work with - huge flying creature for 1UU with a unique drawback, except Ruinator's condition is much easier to build around and have an actual deck rather than a pile of cards that fails when you don't draw Dormant Gomazoa or it gets killed. Also, Ruinator has an additional ability.

Something that untaps every time you cast a spell? Hmm. This is pure Johnny food disguised as a beater.
Find a way to go infinite with this, and the world is your oyster.

@blindthrall: Pfft, these wouldn't have anything on Man-O'-War, if Man-O'-Wars were, in fact, jellyfish.

Well this is quite the intriguing specimen, isn't it?
According to the oracle: "6/15/2010 You become the target of a spell when a spell is cast targeting you, when a spell has one of its targets changed to you due to a spell or ability like Deflection, when a spell that's targeting you is copied and that target isn't changed, or when a spell is copied and one of its targets is changed to you."
So you could enchant it with dual casting and choose yourself as the target of whatever spell you're copying and it will untap each time. That combo would mean that you would be able to make as many copies of a spell as you have red mana. Throw in a second one enchanted with Multani's prescence or even utopia vow and you have infinite copies of the spell.
Not really a game breaking combo or anything, but it looks like it could be fun in casual... Now if they would only print a targeted ritual effect, mmm.
Wow linkfiend, that's pretty great. You could just go all day with Flames of The Firebrand or something, hitting yourself for 1 and your opponent for 2 until they were dead

Make that a Crab Umbra and a Splinter Twin. Now THAT's my style of gameplay.

...That makes it good...
...right? :D
It's also cheap Momentous Fall bait for pumping Lorescale Coatl.

Anyways neat card, more importantly neat little mini-series of creatures, they're like proto-eldrazis or something.
(now that I think of it, they could have combined the "coma" abilities like on Grimgrin)
