First thing I though was how much it would suck to have it stolen and sacced.

Also, Hellbent.

This makes me wish that Necropotence was still around... A 9/9 where you with a wheel of fortune for you alone when it dies!

Now here's something that could use a daily regimen.

thsi is very nasty. I love it. Black and White are looking great this set. Im also thinking of making a black/green deck from this set.

The whole get cards when it dies makes it a huge target if it's in a Rakdos deck.

I'm sending mine on a quest to gather some gemblades. And yes, reinforce it with a daily regimen.

Essentially a black reprint/timeshifted version of Mindless Automaton. Very cool.

Makes a devastating combo with Megrim and Brink of madness. The more cards you have in your hand when you play Thought Gorger, the more likely it will finish you opponent after you have dealt 14(ish) damage to your opponent the next turn.

Probably likes to have a Blade of the Bloodchief. More importantly, fits into graveyard-based strategies like Dredge and Unearth.

I want to pair this with Dark Suspicions.

A beautiful card.
If they remove it in response to the etb trigger you keep your hand! Beautiful design to allow this.
And if they remove it later via exile, it isnt bound to entering the graveyard to refresh your hand.
Drawbacks being if they take it and sac it, or remove the counters. But he's such a beast for the cmc its worth it in my book.

Would suck to have someone cast Pacifism on it, though.

Yay for a black creature with trample that doesn't cost a ton of mana!

With proliferate just around the corner, this card just got that much better.

Threshold, Madness, Hellbent, Delve and then Proliferate (+ reanimation theme)... A Black card is a Black card... and this one is very Black!... Very interesting, very flaverful, 4.5/5 and not broken.

What would happen if you momentary blink it?

Since his last ability triggers when he leaves the battlefield, it'd be fun to see a deck that used him with Venser, The Sojourner. Risky and expensive both money and mana cost wise, but i think it could work...especially if you added proliferate to the mix.

Thankfully, this is still in standard. Let's just get a few Contagion Clasps up and running...

i reaaaaally want to use this guy in standard... hes interesting, abusable, and surprisingly powerful.
but its just really not possible with Frost Titan and Vampire Hexmage running rampant...

Library of Leng could be useful with this guy, for when you want to play him and get maximum counters, but don't want to lose certain cards to the graveyard. Because not everything can be reanimated....

I can see this guy being fun in casual with the new innistrad. All we need is an efficient flashback that puts counters on target creature. ^_^

The Mimeoplasm.

Have this and say, Death's Shadow in the yard, and even with no cards in hand, you get 13 cards back when it goes away. If you had cards in hand, you likely dumped fatties for more fodder later, and you get even more cards back. Getting 13+ cards and eating a removal spell sounds like card advantage in my book.

It just had to rotate out of standard the minute flashback came back. Not cool.

@HippyRei

The reason Necropotence isn't around anymore is because you could make it a lot bigger than just a 9/9 when you use it...

Combo with Unspeakable Symbol. Also very nice with the new Scavenge mechanic.

You probably want a reliable way to kill this guy if you are planning on using him. Otherwise things can go pretty bad pretty slow. At least he has trample. Would be much less playable if the opponent could just chump block every turn. Will definitely playtest him in a casual dreams of the dead deck (get some damage in and pitch a whole new batch of cards into the graveyard for reanimating). Even better with toshiro.
