OMG get woebringer demon its cheaper and doesn't cost 3 colors. Also this card is useless in reborn draft / sealed deck.

this is pretty awesome...
once hes on the table, it'd take a while for his effect to work its magic... playing this card while minimizing its effect on you would mean playing a mainly multi colored deck...

curious though if artifact creatures are considered mono-colored or not... because they are colorless, right?

Good with Thraximundar only if your running a multicoloured deck. Sorta ok anywere else

How is red and black three colors? Colorless does not count as a color. If you know who you are playing against, and know it will be a mostly single color deck when you have a mostly multicolor, it's pretty good. Throw him in a Grixis with aforementioned Thrax, and then have them both killed but whatever it's a good idea in concept.

As for colorless...the only thing I can recall is that when one must pick a color, colorless is not a choice. So...yeah I have no idea. I'd say no, but that's just me.

edit: From this card (Ashnod's Transmogrant) it just makes me think more that colorless means that monocolor does not apply, so artifact creatures survive.

Huh? Was this supposed to be a joke, Wizards? Printing this guy in a MULTICOLOR-ONLY SET? That's mean. He's kinda good, actually... but not now. Too much gold around.

This was printed in an all gold set to force people to have multicolor creatures in play... good in black-red deck backed-up with lots of removal spells that black and red colors can offer... it can also kill indestructible mono-colored creatures such as spearbreaker behemoth due to its sacrifice effect not destroy effect...

This guy is actually pretty good. If you take away the big, glaring ability, he's 6cc for a 5/5 flier. That's not so bad, IMHO. If your opponent DOES have a monocolored creature (specifically something hard to kill) though, you get the bonus of it being dead. That's helpful if your opponent has something like Akroma.

This card is amazing. I run it in my black/red deck with only multicolored creatures like Jund Hackblade. Alongside Rakdos the Defiler, you can wipe out a good two-thirds of your opponents creatures in a blink of an eye

not so good,if u can`t sacrifice u are in a bad position and your mana is gone for him.....not a good deal at all

you can use goblin assault with this or ant queen or mycoloth :)

You apparently misunderstood something here, Kiumer. If you have no monocolored creature and run only hybrid, gold, or even artifact creatures, you won't have to sacrifice something. If you can't sacrifice a monocolored creature there's no penalty for you.

Maybe this card isn't a bomb in block-constructed or the current standard format with that huge amount of colored cards out there, but after all he's still a 5/5 flyer for 6 and his effect should just do fine in other formats.

great later game drop for cruel control decks. anything with toughness 2 or less can be handled by volcanic fallout, terminate can wipe out bombs, and all they are left with is big creatures you can't target (shroud), that won't fall to volcanic fallouts/decent sized earthquakes. kalonian behemoth comes to mind. So fun to watch the opponent squirm as I wipe their board, and they are forced to sacrifice their huge bomb.

Awwwww, it's the lit'le demon that took out a Baneslayer Angel. Don't you just love those "I think I can" storys? So now red black decks can kill the baddest creature in standard.

In Zendikar you'll see alot more monocolor. Especially with Wizards attempt to resurrect monoblack

this is a great card. unless you go out of your way to put it in the wrong deck, i don't see the validity of all the complaints.

So ok obviously painters servant and this card together, although it seems easier to go with something like a flameblast dragon, which btw is a mono colored in shards of alara so no not all the cards are multi colored.

ok, this is a 5/5 flier for 6, and it wont die to its own ability, it is a strong card that should be seeing more play maybe someone will make a sac deck soon with this as the biggest bomb, true it is kinda fail in shards block, but you take it to zen, with no golds or hybrids, its usefulness skyrockets, and the effect only hurts you if you run a bunch of mono color guys

could this guy wipe baneslayer angel? his effect doesnt target, it forces sacrifice. as long as baneslayer is the last monocolored creature standing on the opponents side, they would be forced to sac it even though it was protected from demons. someone correct me if im wrong

-Colorless is not a color; Colorless creatures cannot be sacrificed due to his ability.
-Ashnod's Transmogrant would not "save" a creature. Being an artifact does not mean being colorless; colored artifacts do exist and if a colored creature becomes an artifact, it would still keep its color unless otherwise ruled.
-If a player has only multi-colored and/or colorless creatures, Defiler of Souls does not force that player to sacrifice any of them.
-My only question about this creature is... What the hell is he? Looks like a man-beast-elephant.

Actually, it does not "target" players. Nothing is targetted, so even if something gives the player protection from a property of this card, he will still have to sacrifice the creatures.

And the war between colorless and multicolored rages on. I think All is Dust does a better job.

Wow. Looking at all these picky comments and ridiculous complaints over this guy's obvious 'misuse' is disheartening. I use two of these guys as late-game bombs in my multicolored Grixis Control deck, and I'm quite happy with the results he gives me.

He's a Demon that CAN get rid of Baneslayer Angel.

For those who are for whatever reason still skeptical, just look what you have here. For 6BlackBlackRed, you are getting a big creature with a very decent mana cost (Not to mention a strong tribal type). He's black, so that makes him a non-doomblade-able fatty that will eliminate all of your mono-colored opponent's defenses quickly. Obviously people... don't throw him in just any deck and expect instant success.

If you can't make him work, then you are just plain using him wrong.

Absolutely AMAZING in an Alara Reborn draft, with all the monocolors running around

It's amazing how some one could own and/or play against so many cards from a block and still find cards they've never seen thanks to Gatherer's "Random Card". I really thought I've seen everything the Alara and Lorwyn blocks had offer, yet here I am surprised by yet another sweet card I didn't know existed.

I agree that a Flying 5/5 for 6 is definitely on par, especially for Black. Then his ability is pretty exploitable using his home block. I don't think he would be too amazing in limited though, seeing how Alara Reborn was 100% gold. But outside, yeah...

His ability and his creature type do have an unnoticeable clash. Most demons (outside Alara) are Mono-Black so while a effects like Reaper from the Abyss won't hurt him, he will most definitely hurt Reaper. I guess you could think of him as a cheaper Lord of the Pit.

Painter's Servant does NOT break this card (Wow, never thought I'd say that). Actually, it neuters it in most cases. Painter's has the clause "addition to their other colors" so all of the cards this would normally hit, actually become multicolored. The exception is colorless, which now are monocolored because of the combo-crow.

I'll also confirm something that deserves repeating: He does not touch Eldrazi or Artifact creatures (well, colorless ones that is). 'Monocolored' is defined the same way as 'Multicolored' in MTG, just used much less.

Multicolored: Colors > 1
Monocolored: Colors = 1
Colored: Colors >= 1 (Thanks to Eldrazi spells)
Colorless: Colors < 1

Monocolored has actually been around since Ravnica while multicolored appeared back in Invasion.

Rakdos, the Defiler
Malfegor
Vampiric Dragon
Bladewing, the Risen

Angel of Despair
Selenia, Dark Angel

Razia, Boros Archangel
Firemane Angel
Basandra, Battle Seraph

Oros, the Avenger
Tariel, Reckoner of Souls

Hmm...there are enough multicolored W or B or R Angels or Demons or Dragons that this is finely playable in Kaalia of the Vast. I mean, it's not min-maxing, but we all know a min-maxed Kaalia deck is about to break all hell loose on the format thanks to Avacyn, and that deck will maybe get boring to play?

So freaking good! If I have mono colored creatures I use Undying Evil to buy more time but typically, if you can keep this guy on the field, You'll wipe the rest of the board and swing for a 4 turn clock. Hard to play in a 2v2 game tho. "Sorry buddy!"

Well, just commented on Dread Cacodemon that he was the fifth demon I'd found that could kill Baneslayer Angel.

This is now the sixth. Wizards were trolling when they gave her Protection from Demons...
