Will-o'-the-Wisp just got EXPENSIVE. Of course, there are a pile of 3cc black and blue spells I'd love to play for free. Then there are the positive interactions with Death Baron.

always liked the wisp but taking on three for a 'free' card that costs three or less, not sure if its worth it. if i cast this turn 4 i cant regen, so the spell i get better be good, and something i can play.

Pretty cool, but overly weak. I can see it used in some kind of black blue kill/mill deck.

This should have been a 3-drop...

Having it be a 1-drop would be rather silly for the Cascade mechanic (since it would only cascade into 0's). Still, four seems really expensive for a 0/1 flier that can regenerate itself. Plus, its tribal interactions are more limited being a skeleton rather than a zombie.

i only play it because of the cascade and there are times that i have been disappointed as i cascaded into some useless. he will probably be out my deck soon.

this guy is a wonderful chump blocker and theres not much funnier than having him cascade a Mind Funeral or Terminate.

I think that this card is very underrated, as are most of the Cascade cards. People don't seem to get how the mechanics work for cascade. You build a deck in a manner that benefits cascade, you don't just put stuff in the deck that has a possibility of being useless with cascade. This particular card fits well into an Esper cascade control deck - Enigma Sphinx, Deny Reality, Kathari Remnant, and a lot of discard spells.
Speaking of just Kathari Remnant for a moment, he can act as a flying, regenerating wall. And for his price, you get him and something for free (well kinda for free). So, he is a flying, regenerating wall that forces your opponent to discard 2 cards via Esper Charm or Mind Rot, or Blightning (if you manage to fit those colors).
Think outside the box people. He gets 3 stars for the cascade mechanic alone.

my only problem would be is if I cascaded into a Cancel...then id be forced to counter my own creature...yeah ok nevermind, bad idea.
Not good for a blue control deck, since a lot of your control will pop up before you want it. Cascade is a good mechanic, just not for what im lookin for.

He's expensive, but cascading into a Death Baron suddenly makes him the perfect wall.

Expensive is what you want, so you can cascade into something decent.
Also, to who said cascading into cancel is bad...you don't have to cast it, it just stops there and you put the cards you flipped at the bottom and resume playing.

I like this card for the fact that cascading is basically drawing a card and playing it for free, emphasis on card draw. Putting four of in my UB combo deck with Terramorphic Expanse and Mishra's Bauble as a deck-thinner, then use it as a regenerator for chumping the opponent really helps to get my strategy off the ground.

Like Cadenblade said, this card is (in my mind) tunnel-visioned on Mind Funeral. Between this and Deny Reality, you can structure a deck so that twelve different cards get you the Mind Funeral effect, and with some clever filler, be it (land)cycling, or functional lands like Spawning Pit, you can make a pretty potent deck. Not to mention, the cascade function clears out of the way all the cards you don't need to win, so it's got more than meets the eye going on. Add some Glimpse the Unthinkables to fill the gap.
I've always thought of this as being a pretty much pre-made deck, like the Bloodbraid Elf, Demonic Dread and Jund Hackblade and whatever that other cascade one was deck.

I find this card to be staple in my grixis deck. I like casting this guy and then popping out a sedraxis specter or kederekt creeper !! Great blocking ability and search card !!

I do agree that this is expensive, but that would be if you weren't getting something for free as well. But you are. And on top of that, you get a nearly impenetrable blocker. Decent. Not gamebreaking, but decent.

Of course hes expensive, he has cascade. if he wasnt expensive, then there would be less awesome stuff available for cascading into. i think he is a very balanced card and i like him a lot.

I use it with mid funeral and/or glimpse the unthinkable with Circu, Dimir lobotomist. He triggers twice for a total of 4 cards removed. Pretty decent, and nice defense against non trampling fatties.

Very, very under-estimated card. It's a Will-o-the-Wisp on steroids.
1. I can think of hundreds of black or blue - or black/blue cards for 3 mana or less that would be awesome to cast for free.
2. Its a regenerating flying wall. That in itself is rare indeed.
But no, you get both for 4 mana.
5/5....No questions asked.

I really think that this guy should AT LEAST be a 1/1. I know you guys like your cascade decks, Im not the biggest fan, but I can see how this guy is good in a cascade deck especially for the regeneration abitlity. But if he could just do one damage on his own I think that would actually make this guy REALLY GOOD.

I think this card suffers a bit from trying to do too much. He's an excellent chump blocker that brings along some CA...unfortunately, blue/black isn't exactly known for its ramp right now and this guy wont start chumping till turn 5. Against speedier decks, it often feels too slow for a simple chump blocker. It's alright if you fill your deck with some earlier chumps as well, but it still feels a little sloppy.

Best thing that can happen to this card is to play it on turn two then cascade into Death Baron A 1/2 Flying, Deathtouch, Regenerating wall means no one will ever attack you and if you have 4 then you are pretty well covered from everything that doesn't have shadow or unblockable.

This is an actully fairly strong card, It is effectily a will-o-wisp with a more effective creature type, and you pay the 3 extra to effectivly draw and play the card you get. Honestly too many people are geting hung up on the fact that it costs 4.
I feel as if this card would actully be worse if it cost 3, since you would only be able to draw into 0,1, and 2 drops.
In many cases you use this guy to draw into strong 3 drops like death baron (which everyone seems very fond of), Blightning, Hypnotic Specter, or Maelstrom Pulse. Of course it also matters what colors you are playing .
Honestly you grab this guy mainly for his cascade.

Would work well in my casual ninja deck. Play, cascade, then attack with him and ninjutsu back to your hand to cascade again.

they should make a card that is just an instant with cascade and nothing else, maybe that would help people apreciate cascade more, make the card X mana so that the more you pay the higher cost thing you have a chance of getting (if it would work like that idk.) of course that would make it the worst cascade card ever but still...
Very Effective wall from mid all the way to late, and the 3 Cascade to me seams perfect.
People do not seem to grasp the concept of what gives Cascade its value: Mid/High ranged mana costs.

Veru surprised nobody considered it: Mind Funeral. It's in the same colours, provides a much-needed blocker for a mill deck. I've seen it put to good use, getting Glimpse the Unthinkable sometimes, or even just a simple Hedron Crab.

The problem with this guy is that he has horrible synergy with counterspells, not that he cost 4. If he had flash, then he would be incredible.
I guess you could run in a deck that has no counters....
