More artifact tokens to sacrifice, more artifect tokens for Master Etherium bonus. And you multiply more flying artifact creature tokens after each attack phases...

With Flying creatures in esper getting out more artifact flyers is really easy, even just with sharding sphinx!

in an artifact deck, it can bring out flyers for each artifact creature that does damage. but any way you slice it, this card can bring a LOT of tokens to the battlefield, eventually even overtaking those pesky decks that love to gain 20 life a turn

Sharding sphinx + coat of arms or bravado, pretty awesome. Also pride of the clouds would have fun with this card.

Excellent card, and great artwork and flavor text. I want one.

Flying chump blockers is awesome. Flying chump blockers with the potential to create more chump blockers is even more awesome.

Token creatures which can guilt free be used to activate Time Sieve's free turn? If you get the combo up, it's almost certainly game over - at that point you'd almost certainly have enough flying creatures to have 5 get past blockers and create 5 new thopters with which to give you a free turn.

It's always pleasing when you get this card out and have attackers the opponent can't block. It's quite satisfying when you manage to create over 10 creature tokens simply due to an attacking phase comprised entirely of 1/1's. Very powerful card all around.

I had a good day with this card and Master of Etherium. MoE would make all of the Thopters I managed to continuously generate 2/2, and everytime more of them popped up MoE's P/T went up :)

I'm liking this for my Thopter Foundry + Sword of the Meek deck. Make a ton of tokens that then multiply themselves each attack phase, in addition to the new tokens I'm churning out from the Foundry? Yes, please. Plus, it's a nice 4/4 flying body with a decent CMC that utilizes it's own effect, so it's perfectly capable of finishing games on its own.

This thing is fantastic, hands down. You get a great 4/4 flyer who simply exhales tokens every time you are able to get through to your opponent.

Combined with things like Master of Etherium, the tokens go from a nuisance to a killing force very quickly. The great thing is that if the tokens attack and get through... you get a whoooole lot more tokens. Multiple Sphinxes make the whole affair really ridiculous.

I found a nice combo with this guy and Sludge Strider. If you have the available mana, this can turn into hideous amounts of damage as tokens hit the battlefield, and as they leave when destroyed.

wow, so easy to create lots of artifact creature tokens... If you can get 5 per turn, you can use Time Sieve to get infinite turns....

This would be great with Eldrazi Monument and Master Transmuter.

I do believe that Sphinx just sharded.

This gets out of hand pretty fast. One becomes two, two become four, four become...I dunno, I was never very good at math, but I'm pretty sure the answer is "A LOT!"

Something that makes this all too nice is how it can mix with 0 power creatures like say, Ornithopter. Then this currently mixes with Master of Etherium or even Darksteel Juggernaut. The only thing that makes this not as useful as some other cards I have had, is it's speed. This card is fairly slow albeit incredible in a deck with artifacts that can rush in quickly. I say put this in a deck meant to overpower the opponent with numbers or even a MASSIVE creature, but keep it sideboarded for a deck that may only need just some chump blockers that can reproduce.

Use with Glassdust Hulk and cards like Distortion Strike to provide evasion. Of course it fits perfectly well in any artifact deck.

If an artifact creature with double strike deals damage, does that activate the ability twice?

It's a Brooding Sliver for artifacts!
The artwork always felt more WhiteBlue to me; reminds me of the Temple of Time (Twilight Princess version).

@turing.test: If both strikes hit the player, then yes, you get two tokens.

Seriously, have you said this card's name out loud? Say it. Out loud. Right now.

What an unfortunate debacle of nomenclature.

The Time Sieve combo saved me once. I was playig a kid who had a maxed out Figure of Destiny enchanted with something that gave trample and was going to swing and kill me his next turn. I had this and four thopter tokens out. I drew into Time Sieve and cast it, swung with my Sphinx and thopters and made a total of nine thopter tokens. The kid asked if it was his turn now and I told him he was not going to get another turn. I sacked five thopters to Time Sieve, took another turn, attacked with the Sphinx and four remain thopters and repeated that until he was dead. 4.5*

@Lueseto,
Sphinx requires combat damage, which Pandemonium doesn't do.

Tempered Steel!! I'm picturing it now with Ornithopter, Signal Pest and True Conviction (Double strike = double the doublestriking tokens).

i love this card XD especially when you mix it in with Thoper Assembly and Time Sieve.

Play thoper assembly, during your next upkeep return it leaving you with 5 thopters.

Then play Sharding Sphinx, attack with all 5 thopters, get 5 more

Sacrifice 5 thopters with time sieve and attack again, endless cycle XD.

Great card!

Craziest thing ever at the release was Sharding turn 5 or 6. Best feeling. That's why it's called a release, idiots.
