White shouldn't get 3/4s for three mana. Talk about pushed designs. Very cool cycle nonetheless.

@EvilCleavage: Agreed, although they may have been slacking off a bit too much lately *cough*Baneslayer among others *cough*
I love the 3-hybrid-mana cycle of the Shadowmoor-Eventide block, although I feel some of the cards were slightly underpowered compared to the others. Wilt-Leaf Cavaliers was definitely one of the better creatures of the cycle though, and along with Boggart Ram-Gang it continues to be one of my favorite creatures printed in a long time.

Proof of hybrid's awesome power. It lets R&D make 'kind of, but not really' color heavy cards so as to make undercosted beatsticks like this guy. Or any other card in the cycle really.

And then Woolly Thoctar rose from design, soon to be followed by Leatherback Baloth, and all the land scoffed at Cavaliers. Seriously, it may be slightly less mana intensive (you still have to play strictly white, green, or both) but this guy really got overshadowed power-wise, vigilance notwithstanding. :(

R&D1: It's balanced because it's multicolor! R&D2: But it's hybrid, which actually means it's easier to play. R&D1: HERPADERP.

I really think the developers stayed up all night and thought hybrid mana was a drawback...
