So I have a rules question. With the enchantment "Lifelink" it says, "Target creature gains lifelink", therefore the controller of the enchanted creature gains the life. However, with Armadillo Cloak, if I enchant an opponent's creature with it, do I (as the controller of the enchantment) gain the life?

I am under the impression that since the card says, "Whenever enchanted creature deals damage, YOU gain that much life" YOU = The controller of Armadillo Cloak.

Please help.

Thanks.

The great thing is that this stacks with Lifelink, so if you enchant your own creature, you'll gave double the life!

Yes, this card stacks with lifelink thus you get double lifegain.

An instance is Behemoth Sledge + this.

@brunsbr103: Not really. Behemoth Sledge stays in the field when your equipped creature dies but armadillo cloak goes with the creature when it dies. You only need to pay 3 mana to equip it so armadillo cloak is cheaper if you want to attack early. You can also enchant armadillo cloak on your opponent's creatures to render them useless when they're attacking, but not when blocking.

I personally love both of the cards <3

There is always a risk involved when playing auras, since you can lose two of your cards for the price of one of your opponent's cards. So when using an aura, one must ask if the reward is worth the risk.

This is one of my buddy's favourite cards. I cannot count the number of games that have swung in his favour merely because I couldn't answer his cloaked creature.

If you are going to play an aura in your deck, you can't go wrong with Armadillo Cloak.

This new artwork is nice, but the original artwork is more humorous, which lends well the the ridiculous flavor.

you can do that, cissero. Enchant your opponent's creatures all you want, and gain life with it, too. I use Spirit link as a reference.

Much better than that new fangled "Behemoth Sledge" imho

Great card, lovely new artwork. Should have changed the flavor text, it doesn't work with the new art.

Armadillo Cloak, along with Spirit Link, Vampiric Link, and Essence Sliver, were NOT errata-texted with Lifelink, therefore their abilities still stack.

wouldnt two instances of lifelink stack anyway? similar to poison?

also, this is the highest rated card that i know of, higher than black lotus, darksteel colossus, sliver queen xD

Why don't they just say "lifelink"

Why don't they just say "lifelink"

because they are completely different things.
with this texting, you can stack with as many similar abilities (not lifelink), and up to one lifelink (multiple lifelinks are redundant)
plus, since it doesn't grant anything to the creature, you can equip your opponent's creature to "counter" the damage he would deal to you, making it virtually "useless" as an attacking force

This card belongs in any self-respecting GW deck that plays in a format that allows this card.

Normally I dont like artwork changes on such popular cards, but im gonna have to say this aint bad. Of course, the last artwork didn't have as much cleavage either....

"plus, since it doesn't grant anything to the creature, you can equip your opponent's creature to "counter" the damage he would deal to you, making it virtually "useless" as an attacking force"

Used for this purpose in multiplayer, cards like this are fun. It makes it pointless to attack you with the enchanted creature, but the opponent can still turn the monster on a different player. The opponent is happy he has a bigger creature, and you get some easy life points sent your way -- that's good politics.

almost every person here is just talking about the "lifelink". guys, this card can do much more than just heal! +2/+2 for 3 mana is a decent bonus, add a better kind of lifelink to make it playable. In my opinion it's definetely the trample which makes this so powerful!

"Lifelink" and 'Whenever enchanted creature deals damage, you gain that much life.' are two totally different things. "Lifelink" is a static ability, and therefor does not stack, but I can play 4 vampiric link 4 spirit link 4 soul link and 4 of these beauties on a creature and gain that much life from each enchantment on it.

This is my personal favorite artwork of the card. The only reason is because the art matches up perfectly with the flavor text. Face it, when you look at this it hits you as something that looks stupid. And every time I look at it I want to laugh. But I don't, because the flavor text is right, it works.
Card itself 4.5/5 Flavor text with art bumps it up to a 5

This card is so Selesnya, that I wonder why never get a reprint in neither of the Ravnica blocks.

There is a near functional reprint of this in Dragons Maze, except it has actual lifelink.

There are quite a few cards, that when you go to gatherer, you see that wizards has changed the cards wording in the card text. This one however is not reworded it is exactly how it should be, and is stack able with other cards that are worded like wise, soul link, life link ect. And kudos to the person that thought about rendering an opponents creature powerless, this would go GREAT against my friends life gain deck where he likes to make x/x x is life total avatars and other creatures where their power is equal to his life total. very VERY cleaver indeed.

@BaneReckoning: Just so you are aware, this is a triggered ability, and it triggers when damage is dealt, not assigned. By that I mean, if your friend has a 20/20 avatar, and you are at 20, you enchant it with this, then he swings on his turn, you will die. It has to deal the damage for your triggered effect to trigger, and in this case you would be dead. Not saying it isn't a good idea to enchant an opponent's creature to mitigate some damage, but you have to first survive the damage in order to gain it back. hope this helps.

@mpitc ock: or is Behemoth sledge the equipment version of this?

as far as everyone else talking about lifelink, I am glad this is not "lifelink". as other stated, it stacks with itself and lifelink, and also works on others' creatures.

I'd say 4/5. A very powerful aura, but as an aura you need a creture and set yourself up for a 2-for-1. AT LEAST if you get to swing once with the damage dealt and life gained will make up for this potential card dissadvantage, imo.
