Strictly not a darksteel ingot.

It's so adorably silly looking. I'll second the plush idea.

For constructed Scuttlemutt is almost strictly better.

To bad beside beeing a Myr this has no added gadgets :(

@SeiberTross
...
Considering the combo isn't really that decent,
Even if you DID get it to happen,
I hope you realize that casting a Bolt on your own Obliterator makes you sac 3 permanents...
I'm deleting this for a better comment on our Myr friend in a bit,
Just letting you know before you do something bad at the prerelease.

@SeiberTross: Great idea, except you would sac the three permanents...the damage source's controller, not target opponent...

I don't like it that much.
Paying three mana to get one additional mana a turn later, if this guy survives? Doesn't seem worth it. I'd rather get a darksteel ingot, which is much harder to get rid off and gives you a mana right away. Or birds of paradise, which also give you a mana of any color, but on turn 2 instead of turn 4.
Not horrible, but I can't think of any deck I'd add it.

Brass Squire still reigns supreme in the cuddly robot contest. And this little dude is not going to knock the other mana myr out of my mono color decks. He might help in a multi-color deck, but there are still better alternatives.

I do think the card design was geared towards more of a Limited stand-point. It is another mana-myr that you can get your hands on so you can play the new praetors, ramp into big spells a turn earlier, and if you need it, a solid 2/2 body to hide behind. Also, it helps you splash if you need too which can go a long way in Limited. Good card, not amazing, but good nonetheless.

hes just another card that will be subpar on it's own but with that new 2 drop 5/6 myr, myr battlesphere, and the other good myr, the myr deck looks to be like a fun casual deck after NP comes out. Who knows maybe it'll even be constructed good.

Great card, especially for multi decks, which I often run. However, If I were to run Myr, I would much rather have Palladium- tap it the next turn for a Myr Superion.

I'm running 4 in the main deck of all of my past, present, and future decks just for that f***ing art. And there best be a plush.

This is the first of the New Phyrexia wallpapers on the page that's showing them all off - and it's a Mirran card - and it still says "We will endure".

Sad, very sad.

(Not that I don't like New Phyrexia, I love it - but I would have loved Mirrodin Pure too.)

It's Mirrodin's PLUSHY SKITTLES DISPENSER! <3

Almost a complete crap card, but has to be THE cutest thing EVER. I'd almost run it over skuttlemutt just because it's nowhere near as creepy looking lol.

I've read all the comments that are there while I'm writing this and it seems the general consensus goes something like this:

Very cute and needs to be a plush

A decent way to dispense skittles in casual and limited, but not good enough to feed the pros their sugary snacks

And almost worth playing over Scuttlemut or Darksteel Ingot for the picture

Well, that's a pretty good summary in my opinion, but this has all really made me want some skittles.

Can't Giant Growth Darksteel Ingot into a 5/5 cudgel of cuteness (well, without other support cards). Also can be Disentombed. I'll trade indestructibility for utility any day.

my favorite mirodin alligned card, (maybe my favorite myr) in this set (possibly in this game) (1%) for the effect ( 99% for the art)

Hey, not bad. At the prerealease, was a 2/2 for 3 colorless with a solid ability. See Hoof Skulkin horrible hordes, etc. Was very helpful in my Green-Black-blue ramp deck at the prerelease

Scuttlemutt isn't strictly better than this, and I might even go so far as to say that this is better than Scuttlemutt. Myr are a very well-supported creature type, and having the type Myr will probably be useful more often than making a creature colorful.

God he is so cute.

3.5/5, in terms of utility; he's certainly nice, but he doesn't do quite anything well enough or quick enough to be dependable.

Personally, I don't dig the art. It is cute, but I can't take it seriously. Palladium Myr beats out the Mana Chicken.

this is one of the cutest cards I've seen in MtG.

the ability is great, but is slightly outclassed by some artifacts. but being on legs makes it do a bit better, at the cost of possibly being destroyed easier.

4/5 ability wise, 5/5 cute wise.

The functionality of this card is the mana generation. Unless you are running a deck that is short on creatures, you would benefit far more by using Manalith or Sphere of the Suns instead. At least that way you don't have to wait a turn before being able to use it's mana abilities.

And, yes, this is an amazing looking foil.

I wish he had been a 0/5 instead of a 2/2. The type of deck that I use mana rocks in needs walls more than bears.

Well, he gets the most adorable myr award! All huddled up on his perch there like a little bird!

As for his ability, it can be very useful as a mana accelerator. 2/2 for 3 is good with his ability. Sunburst decks can benefit from such versatility. However, I think he is much outclassed by Palladium Myr because generally, you don't need a specific color more than massive mana ramp.

3.5/5 for usefulness

this card ends games by being too cute to fight against.

as far as actual value to gameplay? Scuttlemutt is strictly worse for this reason.

Scarecrows are a horrible tribe. this wooby myr gets to eventually kick ass as part of a myr legion.

I think this would work quite nicely with Heartless Summoning, as long as your friends don't kill you for almost killing the poor thing.

Wow, that flavor text is actually really beautiful in context. And yes, Wizards you should make more MTG merchandise again, not only the books but plushies and figurines. Us Vorthoses are hungry

@Travelsonic: No you don't understand what strictly worse means. It means worse in every situation. This has a 2/2 body. It can block and attack and that makes it very useful - much more useful if your opponent is at 2 life for example. Darksteel Ingot can only tap for mana, it can't do much else.

I'll play this over Scuttlemutt or Darksteel Ingot for one reason: it interacts with Myr Galvanizer. That's some good mana fixing.

IMO: a bit worse than Darksteel Ingot - summoning sickness + lack of indestructibility for the same 3

It's just that, well, for the same 3 I can get something indestructible that you can use right away since it isn't a creature (unlike this) and doesn't suffer summoning sickness... if I ran a deck that needed that kind of mana rock, would prefer Darksteel Ingot to this all the way but if I absolutely needed that access to any color mana, running this wouldn't hurt.
