I actually prefer this to Valor Made Real because it's an ability worth keeping around.

It's great to have two out so each of your creatures can block three others. Then just gum up the ground with a token generator like Ant Queen or something and you're basically untouchable, as far as combat. Fun card, and very economically costed.

Totally great comboed with a Persist Card that is beefed up or better yet just have a deck thats and combo a bunch of bigger cards with Heartmender and Cauldron of Souls then have fun with Heartmender comboing not only with that but also beefed up Kitchen Finks to have more fun... yeah this can get really really good in a Pesistant deck... :D

This can get pretty insane, especially when paired with such things as Defensive Formation and the various 'when this creature has blocked/dealt/been dealt combat damage' stuff.
Anyway, Guardian of the Gateless performed like a champ in my Kaalia of the Vast deck last night. What it really did was act like a Moat that could fly. Shame I never drew any cards to give it Vigilance. o.O Anyway, Blood Reckoning is also a nice card for staving off attacks. There are better, but put those two down NEXT to each other? it's not GG, but it's not half-bad either. :)
When I was sorting through my piles of old cards, I found this Xth Edition Uncommon and it is definitely going into my Angels and Dragons deck! Make EVERYONE Two-Headed? Yes please! Although...I kind of wish that I could find an excuse to keep Two-Headed Dragon AFTER putting in High Ground. :/ He's just so cool and fun!
Really, truly? I want this card to get a wierd Red reprint actually named "Two-Headed" or something :) Maybe as an aura? Give it a drawback, idc. :) I just want a more Dragon-y flavored version of this. If Red can have a Moat in Circle of Flame, then it should get a High Ground too. :P
