This guy sums up what it is to be a white card- defensive, cheap, and self sacrificing. Brilliant choice for the duel deck.

Indestructibility = deathtouch. Problem is a -1/-1 counter kills it right away.

I do get a laugh out of Emrakul dying to this guy somehow blocking him.

@Richard_Hawk
no quite death touch, he destroys the creature when he blocks, so he would be able to live through blocking a creature with wither or infect

This and Valor Made Real. You'll probably make an opponent very angry at the cost of WW.

This guy is a present day Abu Ja'far, except I can't decide which one I like better. I'd probably say Abu Ja'far because if he is blocked they are destroyed too.

If only he had flash, in which case he COULD kill Emrakul, or a variety of other high-cost bombs, without the opponent knowing the danger.

Leyline of Anticipation + Levitation. Instant speed 1-mana Emrakul death baby!

Flash in kill Emrakul blah blah I'm good at this game, except this card is good in ways other than killing Emrakul. Run in a deck that has four Scout's Warnings. Now that's impressive :)

I believe you guys are forgetting that Emrakul has flying in which Loyal Sentry would be unable to block him anyhow.

If I look at this art from any distance at all it looks like he's riding a rollercoaster.

That is so upsetting... to think that if he can bring forth enough will to stop a raging god, yet not enough to fly.

My only problem with him is that 90% of the time my soldier tribal deck wonders "What's blocking?"
Great card...but probably not the right choice for soldier tribal.
Doesn't his ability trigger IMMEDIATLY, as in, before combat damage is applied?
Example: I choose him to block something, I choose my first strike creature to block something else...
The two creatures die (Loyal Sentry and Opponent's), then first strike, then other damage?

Actually a very nice card. Has good synergy with any way to make him indestructable, as others have said (Indestructibility, Darksteel Plate and Avacyn among others.
Might be worth noting the ability activates BEFORE combat damage, which means that trampling creatures are neutered too

Simply use Whitemane Lion or similar while his ability is on the stack for a free kill.

Does this guy feel like a left over Time spiral card to anyone else? Only printed a year after, and aside from the off-colour white robes and shoulders he has the same Red face and shoulder pads as Tivadar of Thorn and his order the Knights of Thorn.
