Kill titans dead.

Except Inferno Titan, which can burn it before combat.
And Frost Titan, which can keep it tapped down indefinitely.
And Primeval Titan, which brings Mountain and Valakut-fueled burn with it before combat.

More like anti-First Strike, I think. Or just a carrier for Echo Circlet.

I like the idea of it making echo circlet not completely worthless. But other than that, just see it as a 0/3 wall for cheap. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's a 6/3 wall for 1 colorless that f's up First Strike.

Wouldn't it also mess up Tramplers as well? Kill them before the trample damage...
shadmed
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@Kryplixx Nope. Trample damage and damage to this happens at the same time. Damage doesn't stack anymore.
Alsebra
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
It's not exactly like that, shadmed, but the effect is the same. You only have to assign enough damage with a trampler to the defending creature(s) to kill them.

You'd have to be mentally ill to attack with any creature of toughness 6 or less with this on the board. One might, in fact, say that you'd be "insane in the membrane".

@Nayban "Each creature it blocked this combat"
Inferno Titan burns it before it can block him, and Frosty taps it before it can block him. So NO 6 damage to those titans.

Not unless sacrificing 6 permanents is your idea of perfect.

there are two possibilities:
1. it blocks and survives
2. it blocks and kills attacker(s)
that's pretty good

The white walls had an eerie resemblance to marble but it's bland sheen glimmered in the crimson sky regardless. The smooth skin of the building was broken by the blatant display of it's hexplate structure as it climbed higher up into the air. The membrane soared so high it seemed to bend forward and menace it's onlookers. A band of foolish Phyrexians approached and battered the wall with their steel appendages. They cackled and laughed to themselves, besieging a seemingly undefended side of a very important place. A sudden and loud snap and then a crack surged down the wall. The black heart of the wall revealed, the Phyrexians wormed their way in. The sky swirled in a torrent of fire and lightning and from the crevices of the wall, a loud din was heard and after a momentary flash of light, the wall seemed to have made short work of the Phyrexians, leaving a sizzling barbecue for the feral beasts nearby.

third possibility:
3. be shattered, bolted, doombladed, naturalized

But still this card is good. I might be using this for as potential blocker for my artifact infect/proliferate deck. :)

If anything, it slows down the weenie beats or forces your opponent to spend removal on it. I like.

Is this during the combat phase or combat step? Could I sacrifice it for another benefit after it is declared as a blocker?

When we were discussing what to put in this slot, I brought up that I thought Blazing Effigy is cool. Apparently Aaron liked it too, because here it is.

We had a game where he had one of these out, and I used all my equipment to attack with a 7 toughness guy. We want the "6 damage" to matter; if the creature always died we might choose to go with 5 damage, or have it destroy the attacking creature without a damage total. On the other hand, we do like aesthetics, so if there was some reason the exact value, or even the numeral "6" was very fitting, we would have kept that. In this case, there wasn't anything that special. We were just going for a value that would generally get the job done, but you could work hard and get through it.

Thwarts trample? I think not!

702.18b The controller of an attacking creature with trample first assigns damage to the creature(s)
blocking it. Once all those blocking creatures are assigned lethal damage, any remaining
damage is assigned as its controller chooses among those blocking creatures and the player or
planeswalker the creature is attacking. When checking for assigned lethal damage, take into
account damage already marked on the creature and damage from other creatures that’s being
assigned during the same combat damage step, but not any abilities or effects that might change
the amount of damage that’s actually dealt. The attacking creature’s controller need not assign
lethal damage to all those blocking creatures but in that case can’t assign any damage to the
player or planeswalker it’s attacking.

So, if I read this right, the defending player is assigned trample damage as a result of the an attacking trampler assigning lethal damage to CM. CM doesn't assign it's 6 damage until it hits the boneyard.

On paper this card is alright. A 1 cost 0/3 that deals 6 damage to whatever it blocks. However, in practice its simply not a very practical defender. It would be wrecked by 4 of the 5 Tians before it even had a chance to block them, meaning it's targets are limited to more early game. Although if your opponent does have a creature that is vunerable to this, chances are they would simply destroy it, or not attack. Leaving you without a creature, and likely down by 2 life.

It could be decent enough sideboard material though.

Might be some fun with Valor Made Real or Blaze of Glory, although there are better targets for that (death touchers for example).

Guys, just because some of the titans can get passed it doesn't mean it's not a good blocker. The titans are pretty impressive creatures and at the very least this diverts their wrath. For one mana this stops everything short of the biggest and baddest guys in standard(unless they have evasion).

Awesomely amazing card, kill the titan. 5/5

EDIT: after trying to "kill the titan" with this card, I have relegated it to the sideboard. It's only an OK one drop. Make it 3/5.

This is mono-green's solution to Mirran Crusader, and it couldn't be more perfect at doing the job. A turn 1 play, and ironically white.
PanzerDragoon
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.5/5.0) (1 vote)
Put quite simply, this card is mediocre at best without assistance. It does stall opponents from attacking until they can find a solution, and solutions are easy for an "Artifat" "Creature" that is 0/3.

In non-standard play try using: Blaze of Glory, Entangler and/or Valor Made Real.

Question: If I blocked with this, then sacrificed it before damage is dealt, does it still deal six damage?

Really scary wall. If you can't remove it with spells, you really won't wanna crack it.

@GlassJoetheChamp

If it's been declared as a blocker, then yes. It merely checks if it died during combat, then if it blocked.

what is with the stupid argument that it can be bolted/ removed?!?

If someone has to use his bolt on this stupid wall then you already succeeded.
