Falvor text aside, this card is pretty insane for Mono white, particularly for EDH. What an awesome general! The guy gives +1+1 to everything on your side and nerfs everything the opponent is running with.
Expensive, but with a recall to boot, this is a pretty cool card.
A very solid 4.

Now that WotC pulled the Lord type, he has no class type. I say he should be a Knight, as it fits with his noble status, and it's a combat type. Warrior is also a possibility. Any other suggestions?

My EDH general. I can't begin to tell how many times his abilities rocked my opponents. His third ability is game-changing, a must have card for any mono-white deck.

He doesn't use the planeshifted frame because he bounces himself instead of flying.

Can i ask a question regarding its last ability Pay 2 life: Return Crovax, Ascendant Hero to its owner's hand. Can i return this from my graveyard?

He is not the only plane-shifted legend. Refer to Akroma, Angel of Fury before making inane statements.

And Mirri the Cursed. But nobody's perfect. I see what you were trying to say.
(old comment:) When regarding this card i don't know whether i should wonder why this card, being the very only timeshifted legend ever, does not use the planeshift-design; or whether i should rather wonder why Ascendant Evincar, the card this timeshifted version is based on, did not get his actual name mentioned on the card back then as they did with his newer as well as his older self, Crovax The Cursed.
Nontheless i like this card, and not just for flavor reasons like representing the third impersonation of the same character.
(edit:) Ok, i admit i screwed up. It was stupid from me to somehow regard them as identical regarding functionality. One of them is a 3/3 flyer, the other a 4/4 with optional bounce.
I considered Crovax, Ascendant Hero to be an identical white version of Ascendant Evincar. And therefore i wondered why he didn't get the planeshift card frame. That's what this entire fuzz was about. Don't think i didn't know about the other Legends that reappeared in this block.
Jesus, I'm so glad I've never actually played this guy.
I always assumed that he had flying since his black(er?) counterpart did.

A bit late, but in response to jumpenrun: Unless stated otherwise, abilities of permanents only function while they're on the battlefield, so no, you can't use his ability from the graveyard. You can, however, use it in response to something that would kill him, in which case he never goes to the graveyard at all.
And since nobody else has mentioned it, he's rather outclassed now by Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, who costs only more, and gets +1/+3 compared to him, has double the bonus/penalty, and benefits all your creatures and hurts all opponents' creatures, regardless of color.

Although he's not a soldier himself, he fits perfectly n my mono white Darien Commander deck.
I don't know which is the best, I think that they all play different... This is the weirdest, because I think that its second and third abilities aren't white at all, but hey, it's Planar Chaos, right? Especially its second ability... Sure white is racist!

I just realized that he has Selenia, Dark Angel's self-bouncing ability...what exactly does that imply flavor-wise?

At 6 mana he is expensive, but his Elesh Norn-like effect can be decisive! Also, he is bounceable and can be saved from removal!

See his cloak, it's made up of angel feathers. Selenia was the Guardian Angel of his family line, and in this timeline Crovax never betrayed her, so when she died she gifted him with her wings to protect him.
@axelle Mirri survives originally, Crovax became evil because he killed an evil angel and became a vampire. In chaos, Mirri kills the angel. So, there you go.

So let's think this through... evil-Crovax, i.e. Ascendant Evincar, was a black man who hated non-blacks... while good-Crovax is a black man who hates non-whites...
You know, um... I'm... not comfortable... playing this card...

Angel of Jubilation ironically has the +1/+1 boost to stuff, but doesn't allow Crovax to return to your hand. How sad, the flavor was beginning to mesh so well: like the angel could have been his new "Selenia." That, and his Evincar version is black, and the angel doesn't boost black...alternate reality Selenia could have been an angel of jub., instead of Orzhov colors.

For those who don't know this is based on an alternate story-line where crovax decided to be "good" instead of evil. Interesting card from a flavor perspective.

But neither is Akroma, Angel of Fury a planeshifted version of Akroma, Angel of Wrath, nor is Mirri the Cursed a planeshifted version of Mirri, Cat Warrior, nor is Braids, Conjourer Adept a planeshifted version of Braids, Cabal Minion regarding functionality.
You wouldn't call Jeska, Warrior Adept a planeshifted version of Phage the Untouchable or Kamahl, Fist of Krosa a planeshifted version of Kamahl, Pit Fighter either.
I considered Crovax, Ascendant Hero to be an identical white version of Ascendant Evincar.
