Wait, its bad card; so why the hell is it rare?

Because of the low-mana bounce abuse. In a 'creature comes into play' or 'creature leaves play' deck, this card can easily become a staple, and it's a 4/4 for 2 for those R/U haste decks. Overall a decent card.

This fits in a hellbent deck, except it's blue

Has a home with Pandemonium, Equilibrium, or R/U sligh.

it's rare because its use is narrow

Agreed on Eon Hub or any other card that cause a skipping of upkeeps, but it should be easy enough to keep your hand low, even if it may make a U player feel bad to have no card in hand. Play along something like Isochron Scepter to make sure you aren't relying on your topdecks.

@ Tiggurix

This may not be as cute as the Urza's Saga version, but according to gatherer this is strictly better.

Guys, Blue/Red deck based around this card. Pandemonium and Fervor with this card? Keep a card in your hand and it's like eight damage a turn for your opponent every time. What about their blockers? Kill it with Pandemonium's effect. Then swing, only four that turn, sorry it's not eight damage that turn.

this + Grafted Skullcap. No cards would be in hand since the "upkeep" step occurs before the "draw step".

Ruling: The beginning phase is composed of three parts, or "steps." The first thing a player does is untap all cards he or she controls in the "untap step." Then, any abilities that trigger on the "upkeep step" happen. Then the player draws a card in the "draw step."

Just trying to make some kind of use out of this card lol.

...This card is brilliant!
Even if you don't have anything to keep it from being bounced, nothing could possibly compare to uttering the words "I summon my Imaginary Friend!"

This isn't as cute as the Urza's Saga version, but still pretty cute!

By the way, this could be pretty decent with Eon Hub.

@desolation_masticore: Wait, you actually base your opinon of a card by the Gatherer rating?!? Holy shit that's stupid! The people who rate a card, as I can attest to, often rate it for random, arbitrary, highly opinionated and sometimes plain dumb reasons. To say that this version of the card is strictly better than the other because of its Gatherer rating is like saying, oh, I don't know, that Storm Crow is strictly better than Baneslayer Angel for the same exact damn reason! Please, spare us the bull.

I got this simply because of the badass art. Look at it! A little girl and a 4/4 illusion!

That aside, unfortunately, I have yet to find a deck to put this in, nor have I came up with a deck that this would fit nicely into. I'm really eager to try it out with different things, though, simply because I love this card so much.

The Imaginary Pet is really just a 3 1/2 / 3 1/2, the other 1/2 / 1/2 comes from the Little Girl.

Bottled Cloister and stack your triggers correctly :)

Whoa. I didn't know about this card; there is some way to use it; and I will find it.
Last Rites
Noxious Vapors
Rituals
Putrid Imp
Oona's Prowler
Blood Scrivener
Tombstalker
Deathrite Shaman
Sphere of resistance

You quickly destroy their hand and have enough mana for a 2 cost creature. You have bigger creatures than they should for the most part, you destroy their hand early, keep laying down threats each turn. For graveyard decks you switch over the discard to gravehate (depending) and for control decks you just need to side in some spell pierce to win an early counter-battle (which sphere also helps with.)

@Earthdawn

Bottled Cloister is a great choice, but you don't need to worry about stacking triggers properly. Since Imaginary Pet's ability has an 'intervening if' clause, I don't believe it will even trigger unless Bottled Cloister has already resolved.

This is one of those weird cards R&D thinks up every now and then just to give the Johnnies some sort of challenge. Like giving a zoo giving the monkeys a sealed box filled with rose petals to keep them occupied.
