One mana counter spells are always fairly strong, even if they are limited and conditional.

A new, cheap and playable counterspell? What the hell? I thought you hate blue, Wizards, so how did THIS happen? lol. Reprint Mana Leak and I might just forgive you for your recent decimation of blue. Anyway, this spell is certainly a step in the right direction. 5/5

Good for shutting down lightning bolts early on, and later on the game, it can stop combos by screwing up your opponents supply of mana.

it's fun to use simply to drain the opponents mana on him. i also love it's potential to shut down Harrow

It's a cheaper, more situational Negate. It should be interesting to see how this card fits into limited format.

Very good counter. It can completely ruin nearly any strategy, and swing games in your favor.

It's a cheaper Mana Leak! A definite addition to blue control decks in Standard. 4.5/5

It's sort of too bad that the best counterspell in Standard - yes, this is absolutely the best counterspell in Standard - is so conditional, but this is a totally solid card regardless.

You don't even have to play this card for it to be useful. If your opponent knows you have it, it will slow down his game for a turn or two as he'll feel compelled to keep mana open in expectation of it. Also, you could write a book about a first turn counterspell. Great card overall, 4/5

What creatures are there to fear being played on turns one and two? Excellent card.

The best counterspell we've seen in a very long time (which isn't saying much, but still).
This is basically a force spike that is focused on non-creature spells... pretty sweet. The amount of times this will be useful far outweighs the number of times it won't. The artwork is also wonderful, great card.

It's good ot see a cheap ***erspell back in Blue that only has a small drawback. Great early game play when players have to tapp all their mana to get soming out on the field.

because wizards got rid of counterspell, they hate blue right? why is it that blue has so many whiny, self entitled cry baby fanbois I hope you guys like this card, maybe one day blue will completely dominate the competitive scene again, and normalcy will seep back into your lives

Not played often in Standard, but kicks a lot of butt in Legacy. Piloting an MUC, this saved me many times against other control decks.

WAY better outside of standard. A one-mana counterspell that shuts down Hypergenesis in (old) extended and countless things in Legacy.

I have a feeling that this might just be a little overrated. Just a little. It's a great counterspell early game, but it only hits noncreatures. Sure, it could mess them up greatly, but it's not worth a 4.5 rating in my opinion. This is a solid 4/5.
One mana counterspells will always keep your opponents off guard.

Such Power Sink would cost you - here you can get it for . And keeps you the Island available for Daze even if your opponent would counterattack. 5/5

I love this card for the flavor. It feels like finding that tiny flaw in your opponent's plan and shooting it open. Very satisfying to utilize this.

Very useful for de-accelerating green, calming down early red, and staying in an opponents mind... Are you scared of my left over blue?

Currently occupying a permanent spot in the sideboard of any blue deck I play. Great for stopping 1st turn Duress/Inquisition of Kozilek or Kuldotha Rebirth. Also allows you to play a comes in tapped land (Halimar depths, usually) on second turn and still have some hope of countering something on your opponent's second/third turn. 4/5, -1 for the non-creature part (but it would probably be too strong without it).

Even though I usually prefer to use Negate, I run this in my deck so I can tell my opponent "there's a hole in your plan" when he casts his winning spell.

I much prefer it in the sideboard for legacy... Vintage is an entirely different story.
Hey, a cheap, Legacy-quality counterspell! It kills eager planeswalker drops, it fits into your curve, it's mighty against Force of Will, Cryptic Command, and Wrath of God, and even pitches to Force when the going gets tough. This is pretty decent at winning the counterspell war.
Comparable to Flusterstorm. Pack these for an artifact/enchantment control metagame, and Flusterstorms if you're worried about combo decks.

I imagine this being useful in an aggro deck of some sort, keeping removal off your guys. Even creature-control decks can use it that way, with little color investment.
