A fixed Tarmogoyf? Still, it's gonna be scary, Tarmogoyf is on average a 3/4 for 2 which can only get bigger. This thing will be on average a 3/3 for 2 with potential to get bigger. Oh zombies ...

Does he even need the sword? I would die of fear if this was in my face. Maybe it should even have fear...

Pretty much a Black Boneyard Wurm that works on your opponent's graveyard rather then your own. Could easily see him working well in Dimir Decks.

Soooo much multiplayer hate. In fact this helps make mill relevant for multiplayer...so maybe it's not that bad.

Besides milling strategies, it is not very efficient to put stuff in your opponent's creatures in their graveyard... so I don't see how this will be very strong unless built around. He's priced right at 2 mana. His biggest problem though is being a dead card, and that's a big problem.

I love this card a lot!
Once the entire spoiler of Gatecrash has released, this was one of the cards that got me really worked up!
I love that it's strong when you build around it (not an automatic "I win" card).

Also, I've been wanting to make a Jace's Phantasm deck for quite a while now. This is gonna be a very fine addition to that deck! Thank you for printing this wizards!

Too bad undead alchemist works kinda against it, but this seems like geraf's mindcrusher's little buddy. It's better than boneyard wurm due to the fact that it can be played with no graveyard.

Splinterfright has an archnemesis.

It's always nice to see zombies get a decent two drop. Of course, he's no Tidehollow Sculler, but that'd be asking too much from a mono color two drop anyway.

On a side note, this is why Kabal shouldn't remove his mask.

Since Wight's size rely on opponent's graveyard creatures only, and if you opponent plays control there's going to be very few creatures to be used.

Only after one trade this guy becomes a bear. The mill synergy is delicious.

Weird little guy.
It looks aggressive with its mana cost. But early on its ability does rarely do anything. You might consider playing it in a mill deck, but a mill deck doesn't really need creatures. Then you might consider playing him in a multiplayer deck (what with more creature cards in graveyards), but there is no reason to play him over mortivore there. And in a combo deck, boneyard wurm is better. Not to mention that you never know to 100% how many creatures are in your opponents deck. It might be that this guy won't be more than a 1/1 throughout the entire game.

The Dark Wight rises!

"I'm not the zombie Dimir needs. I'm the zombie Dimir deserves."

Might not be the best addition for my zombie beatdown tribal, but an interesting common nonetheless. And loving the art and flavor text xD

Eh, he wouldn't be too bad in an average Zombie deck. Only need one creature in an opponent's graveyard to be equal to a Walking Corpse, and he'll only get bigger.

Plus, he looks AWESOME.

I don't think he's over powered. I just think WoTC is beginning to make a mistake that's equal and opposite to old mistakes. Pushing multiplayer much instead of not supporting it. I don't mind enabling cards to be multiplayer friendly-- but this is a good card to talk about how to do this lazily, versus how to do this well, in a way where Expert Sets mostly meant for Duels can have Better Designed cards that happen to work ok for MP as well.

This is an uncommon zombie. He counts -all- graveyards? That seems like...I just don't quite agree with it. At first I wasn't sure if I'd even want him in Duels. Then, duh, I started thinking.

He's just fine when he only counts one grave. That's already very scalable, bc he's a TWO mana creature. If you ever get him to 4/4, he was already more than well with your time and mana. 4/4 is about the highest I see him getting on average in Duels, because to get him that high, considering how long the game will go on, how many cards out of each deck used...likely you'll be killing with damage soon, unless it's a control matchup.

In multiplayer-- this effect shouldn't be uncommon. He gets SO massive in multiplayer, that to count ALL graves should require him to be Rare- which would then justify a cool second ability that does something either to the battlefield or to graveyards. Or maybe, if you want to make the version I would most want to have for balanced EDH play:

2BB
Mythic Rare
Deathtouch
Zombies you control get +1/+1 for each creature
card in your opponents graveyards.
2/2

I just think that uncommon cards shouldn't be too easy to hack into massive huge numbers in EDH. Oh I love massive huge numbers in EDH :) And I don't mind sometimes having Spikey mana costs on things :)

I just want to have my Fantasy World SLIGHTLY follow SOME kind of rationality. If these Wights actually existed, they'd be the one, only, and top pick for nations to make their entire military out of. They're even easy enough to come by?!?! No, I'm sorry.....I rather don't want to live in a world that invites Necromantic Infinite Trench Warfare like in WW1. And that is what would happen in a World where this guy is truly an uncommon.

I just think ''counting all graveyards'' is something best left on the Rares, which in turn can then be given more cool things that Rares get to have ^_^ Wight of Precint Six, in my honest opinion, would be better to choose a target opponent on entering the battlefield, and just count that graveyard.

@DarthParallax: It is true this card is powerful in multiplayer, but changing its rarity only affects multiplayer games if the players you play with only buy packs to get cards. Rarity is a tool for limited, never constructed, and for flavor only functionally matters on legends and planeswalkers. As you mentioned, he is powerful but not ridiculous in duels (not Duels, unless you're referring to Duels of the Planeswalkers, in which case rarity is even less of a concern...) so uncommon is not as ridiculous for the card's power level or flavor as your extremely long post posits.

I love this card. I was just thinking of building a zombie Horde Magic deck, and cards like this make that seem like a really fun idea.

I made a deck with this and 20 kill spells in it. This gets insanely big. It can be an 8/8 or more for just two mana.

@sarroth
I highly recommend making a horde deck. They are absolutely tons of fun. I've had one for about 8 months now, but I am finding it a little stale. To spice it up, I'm upping the card count to 200. It's gonna be a blast.

This card would be cool in a horde deck, but it is honestly a little weak for one. It would be a fun addition though, no doubt. Just run 1 or 2 and put less other vanilla creatures in the deck. Either that or base your deck off of this kind of effect. Undead Alchemist would be bananas with this guy.

As for the card outside of horde, I'm actually considering him for a pauper EDH deck as the commander. It would be really funny lol. Lots of removal, zombie tribal, with him as just a beater/finisher.

5/5 because art is epic, and his ability is inspiring.

Budget-Goyf; grows with your opponent's grave and works well in a control deck (as you'll be helping your opponent fill their grave with creatures.)

Works in decks Goyf can't too, such as R/B and works against them since they would have to hate on their own grave; with Goyf and KotR rely on to be effective.

He's also a zombie, making him part of a very powerful tribe at a low cost; ensuring he can see play in some format somewhere.

@DarthParallax :
I really don't see the problem with this card being an uncommon. The rarity was set to make it available in limited and has no real relevance in EDH, where you're not restricted to a sealed pool. Even if the card had been printed at mythic, it'd still be in the dollar rare box so accessibility is a non-issue (especially since you'll only ever need one copy).

As for the ability being overpowered in multiplayer... just, no. He's great, and I run a copy in my Mimeoplasm and Lazav decks, but he's easy to work around. His ability is reliant on one of the most easily-recurred card types, and blanks if your opponents are running any graveyard disruption (which they should be). On top of which, he has zero built in evasion and can be chumped by a token (or a solemn simulacrum, or an obliterator, or any number of other things that want to be dealt damage...).

tl/dr, he takes some work in multiplayer, and setting the rarity at uncommon is fine.

Might be a good idea to get them while you can folks. I think when Born of the Gods comes into play this guy will see quite a bit of fun when combined with consuming aberration and Phenax.

This guy can be an absolute beast if your opponent has no removal handy. Combos really well with the likes of Balustrade Spy, and Mirko Vosk. Great fit for any mill deck!
