Fans didn't ask for this but they got it.

Well, it blows up a land. Like the pesky Inkmoth Nexus or Kessig Wolf Run. That's not so bad on a 3/3 body.

Oh hey heartless summoning, need some stone rains for your deck? How about one on a 3/3 creature?

Love this card. Though a 3/3 for five mana is a bit costly, you can be sure that this is the last thing your opponent wants to kill when they're hanging off a single Plains in a multicolored deck, thus evasion or a little something to stop your opponent from hitting you with bigger creatures.

@Madrai: Eldrazi were the Reapers, so you're a couple sets behind.

Almost looks like it belongs in new phyrexia... oh no! That wasn't zombie juice they were using, it was glistening oil! Mistress Vess has been indoctrinated! Run, run! The Reapers are coming! -Planeswalks to the Citadel... er... Ravnica.-

@Blindthrall: Eldrazi didn't convert lifeforms into themselves. The Phyrexians do. Phyrexia vs. Eldrazi, where is that duel deck!?

Swinging Ulamog into Obliterator is one of the most epic ways to reset the board :P

Convenient this is in the same set as Cavern of Souls.

This is a worthy sideboard card, at least, in any decks with room for it. Just imagine how much better it will be once Ravnica brings back the Shocklands (probably). TONS of non-basics in Standard that this can nerf.

This guys main problem is that combat damage/destruction is not the main form of removal currently in standard. Exiling and unsummoning variants that bounce it back to the hand are. It needs to die to destroy the land, and for 5cc mana, you are going to want it to take something with it when it dies.

In limited in can be amazing, and can be a midlevel pick in draft. But with Oblivion Ring , Vapor Snag , Unsummon , Fiend Hunter , and all the cancels currently in standard, this guy will not see play because the nature of his ability will simply not work with the current environment, which is sad =/

I suppose you could sideboard him in, in the case you are going against wolfrun or dungrove. Put Skeletal Grimace, Undying Evil, or Unhallowed Pact on him for extra effect, to keep pinging those lands. For above stated reasons though, he will not work against U/W or U delver decks.

This seems like an immigrant from New Phyrexia. Seriously, I think he got stuck in a Time Machine or something.

3/3 + landkill for 4Black in a heavily supported tribe with good art. Nothing not to like here.

Diregraph captain+Grim-Grin Corpse born=loose one life, and loose one land.

The perfect target in my Grimgrin, Corpse-born EDH. Really cheap to get out with cards such as Rooftop storm, Undead warchief and graveyard hijinks. Not only does he stop people from attacking you outright, thus giving you that little bit extra time to combo off in a jam, but they know you can pop him with Grimgrin at any time. I had Helldozer in there, but decided to take it out for this guy. Less overt land destruction, and doesn't need to be haste to still be useful. One less mana and this guy would be amazing. For five mana, in the right deck, he still is, so I'll give him a 4/5.
