Instant-speed lynchings.

This makes me rather uncomfortable.

Arguably the most flavorful card in the entire block.
I REALLY like it for that reason alone.

If you put this in a deck with Executioner's Hood you're a sick bastard.

Step 1: Cast Gallows at Willow Hill.
Step 2: Cast Thatcher Revolt.
Step 3: Tap the tokens to destroy the opponent's Mayor of Avabruck.
Step 4: Yell "¡Viva la Revolución!" at the top of your lungs and die in an explosion of flavor.

For the sheer cost I'm playing, they better not get a free token out of the deal.

Recurring creature-activated removal? Token decks everywhere, rejoice!

I know, I know, repeatable removal. But the costs on this are just too steep. If you don't have the humans needed to activate it, it's just a tall wooden stage. Plus you can only use it once each time around. Never mind that it gives your opponent a creature in return.

It's a flavorful card with good art. I got one at prerelease, but I don't need any more.

@steev haha, genious comment dude!
When i first read the card i was like "Wow, they've outdone themselves again with the flavor of Innistrad cards!"
After reading your comment, i smirked about the thought of several man running with a gallow during the heat of a battle towards another man and hanging him before he could even react to that. Then i also noticed that with all those supernatural creatures on Innistrad (particularly spirits), a gallow probably might not be the most reliable way of killing things in the first place...

Humans can hang things from the gallows at the hill that doesn't appear to actually have a willow anywhere on it!

This card is way over-rated. Three mana, plus tap three of my creatures to destroy one of theirs, and they get another one to replace it? That is a bad deal.

It's rubbish. Three mana to put down, then once per turn you can pay another three and tap down three of your humans just to remove a creature - and they get a free spirit?

Nah.

Very flavoursome but just useless in the game. Slow, over-costed and unwieldy to use (you need three humans with nothing better to do for a start) and you give them a spirit. Dreadful creature removal, there are so many cheaper and easier ways to remove opponent's creatures or sacrifice your own.

Yes token decks could use this, but in many human token decks this will be a very slow play when you have various cheap Champions and Paladins doing a lot of damage.

What do you mean, there's something wrong with destroying Teferi with this card? He's a powerful card that demands removal, I don't see anything wrong with it.......

Considering that you have the potential to use this on yourself is actually beneficial. In a spirit token deck, using Avacyn's Collar and Doomed Traveller, you could tap three humans and kill Doomed Traveller and get 3 Spirit tokens. Throw in Parallel Lives and you have 6.

It's a shot in the dark, but it's potential is there. It's just too expensive.

Why not use it after Act of treason? Or one of the many other similar spells. Steal, swing, replace it with a 1/1 flier before ot goes away :D

Too expensive, IMO. 3 mana AND three creatures? So deliciously flavorful, though.

I don't like the card but the drawing is fantasic.

I feel like this ought to be Legendary. I mean, how many Willow Hills can there be? I guess playing a second one could mean that they built another gallows there, but still.

And yes, I realize that this would make a mediocre card still worse.

I think one thing that people don't realize is that you don't have to use this on your opponent. Use it on a doomed traveler for 2 1/1 fliers or a cathedral sanctifier that you just chump blocked with. In a human swarm deck, sacking 1/1 tokens for 1/1 fliers isn't a bad choice.

consider any two of the following revisions to make this playable-

Cmc of 1.

Ability costs 1, T, tap three humans.

Ability costs 2, T, tap two humans.

Ability just costs 3, T, tap one human.

Removal of the tribal requirement.

It does not produce the spirit.

However, bonus points of massive alliteration.

I played this at the prerelease sealed event. It won me a match in the final game. Swung in against a Griselbrand and after blocks I tapped my three ground-pounders to lynch Griselbrand. He could only deal 2 damage on the swing back so I won on my next turn at 1 life. Epic.

I use this in my Teysa Orzhov EDH deck as well. Lots of humans that sit around and just gain me life (Soul Sisters and Teysa) so having removal I can use over and over is sweet.

Best thing about this card is it's colorless removal. Bypasses a lot of protection shenanigans.

This was really saddening to draw as my rare on my first and only Avacyn Restored pack. I got a foil Defang to add insult to injury.

Has anybody seen the token associated with this card? I can't stop staring at the art.

Is that... a child? There is some sort of terrible story behind this card and I can't stop thinking about it.
