It's like if Jared Leto had been addicted to blood, instead of H, in Requiem for a Dream.

This is one of the best combinations of art, ability, and flavor text in this set and possibly in Magic.

Vampires may have been smug, arrogant assholes throughout Innistrad block, but I can't help but feel sorry for this poor guy. :(

Prevents creatures from using abilities to deal damage, but still allows them to attack and block. I'd say Pacifism's better in the majority of situations, especially while Titans are still in standard.

They could have just stuck a Muzzle on him instead I suppose. Wouldn't a Vampire get -1/-1 counters each upkeep without nourishment?

This has some advantages over Pacifism in that it shuts down cards like Prodigal Pyromancer, Grim Lavamancer, and since someone else mentioned the titans, it also shuts down Inferno Titan (though not the others) as well as Pacifism could.

So getting punched really hard in the face is an enchantment, and if the enchantment is destroyed you get unpunched in the face?

I'd take Pacifism over this 99% of the time.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is the kind of Limited format we're looking at. With creature 'removal' like this, you better pray you cast your limited bomb before your opponent--otherwise, you've already lost. It goes without saying, of course, that this will see no play whatsoever outside Limited.

If this card would be true to its flavor, it would have a painfully narrow use.

People need to realize how this stops non-combat damage as well. Any Tim and lots of massive elementals that normally ignore pacifism are completely shut down by this thing. Fair trade for letting them get one last block out of 'em, I think.

I'm pretty sure every set in magic history contains at least one card with bad-dentist themed artwork. This is one of those cards.

Wait, does the flavour text refer to a specific named card? That seems a but strange...

This card is very wrong.
I assume that who caught this vampire are humans, well, naturally a vampire strength cannot be matched by a handful of humans.
Let's say they defang him, but does that take his vampiric powers too? or does he feel like castrated?
From the flavor text, i guess they assigned him to some job or labor after they defang him, can vampires really be controlled that easily? even if it's true, he won't survive a day, because he needs to drink blood using those fangs, a**holes.

It would have been awesome flavor-wise if this effectively shut down Olivia Voldaren, unfortunately her first ability is not dependent on the damage being dealt. Kinda makes me wonder how she's transforming people into vampires if not by biting them....maybe I don't want to know the answer to that.

the flavor really isn't hat hard to understand guys. he's defanged - meaning he can't feed on his own, AND in Innistrad lore that means he can't feed to the point of killing someone. because he can't feed to his full extent, he relies on whatever blood he's given, making him weak and ineffectual due to starvation. I think this is fantastic art for White, which usually has the flavor of humans fighting the monstrous creatures of the other colors.
I had four of these at the AVR pre-release and they won me so many games in limited. There is 1 reason that I love this card, people treated it like pacifism. I would attack with a weak creature and they would take the damage instead of blocking it with their defanged beasty. Read the cards peeps! You can still block with the enchanted creature... Ah well, won me the pre-release.
Outside of limited, this card will see even less play than pacifism.

At first I thought "MEH!" but.. this would be much more damaging to my Kederekt Parasite than most types of this pseudo removal.
A lot of people are focusing this on Vampires- understandably, as the flavor art agrees. However, this can be equipped to non-Vamp, non-Wolf creatures. Because it also removes the teeth from your Grizzly Bears. I wonder how well it'd work in-world with Experiement One or Evil Eye of Orms-by-Gore?

@Stinga
Actually, it's not true that humans were humanely killed, see cards like Dead Weight. Even if they were, I don't see how it's "evil" for humans to retaliate against the monsters that murder them for their blood. This vampire is almost certainly getting what he deserves.

Wow...this is really evil. I mean, even at the worst times humans were generally treated reasonably well by vamps until they were quickly and humanely killed for their blood. Neutering and then forcing a vampire to die for a training exercise? Awful.
Edit: Mmm, fair point hozacrend. Still, I would expect better from the good people of Innistrad. If the best the good guys can muster is "better than evil," he/she/it is hardly the greatest dude around.
