We sure do have a lot of card to play should reanimator ever become a deck.

This card has a chance of making main deck in zombies.
A 2/2 Black Zombie token with flash for B with there needing to be a creature in a graveyard anywhere? I'll take it.

This has potential... a LOT of potential. Especially at instant speed.

The instant speed makes this wonderful against Unburial Rites and Eldrazi as well as making flash blockers.

I think Diregraf Ghoul is very, VERY close to this card, but it may be just a slight bit worse.
The main difference is two things: Speed and penalty.
Speed: This spell is obviously faster, since it plays at Instant speed (it IS an Instant ☺), and when the creature comes into play, it isn't tapped. It can also be played on your opponents turn, which can both trick them and allow you to attack almost immediately after playing it.
Penalty: Although Diregraf Ghoul comes into play tapped, it can still be played on turn 1. Vile Rebirth would need to somehow mill/discard 1 creature with one card, and then exile it to play it on turn 1. Otherwise, you might have to wait until turn 3+ to play it, and on turn 3+, do you really want to play a 2/2 Zombie? But then again, which would you rather play: A 2/2 Zombie with Flash or a 2/2 Zombie that comes into play tapped.
A flawless card. So hideously beautiful. Please stay in core sets. Please.

I can't believe they made this card an instant. Should be fun to play.

Pretty awesome card that lends itself to lots of combos. You are getting a lot of bang for your buck for a mere {B}

This card is absolutely perfect, My friends see this card as a 2/2 black zombie with flash with a drawback. I SAY NEIGH, this is a 2/2 black zombie with flash with an amazing ability, I play only legacy so from now on I will be taking four of these to every tournament from now until eternity. Surgical Extraction/Extirpate are great weapons against reanimator decks but this guy is beyond ridiculous not only do you stop them from reanimating a creature of theirs, you also net a 2/2 body FO'FREE

Instant speed? Damn, that's like your oponent's creatures are in a zombie apocalypse movie.
One of a very, very, few number of cards from this subpar set that might actually see play in Pauper. It probably won't, and yet... I look forward to trying it out! Everyone else hit the nail on the head already. Suffice to say, Vile Rebirth reminds me a lot of Beckon Apparition, a card I remember fondly from the Nightsky Mimic days.

I see "Counter target reanimate spell." That's good enough for me.
It's a 2/2 Zombie with flash for only single mana! Wait it's better...it also exiles nasty creatures, like Bloodghast, Gravecrawler and Vengevine from a graveyard. AND counters Moorland Haunt AND works against Undying. It's amazing.

wow, obviously a sideboard card against reanimater, but could also be good against delver decks running thought scour

My question for this card is: Can it be used to eat a creature with undying? Meaning, can I remove the creature before it can re-enter the battle field? If so, then this card is a gem indeed. I have thought that it was good, but it is great if it can be used to off an undying critter like Geralf's Messenger. Please advise.
Never mind...I just found my answer, and it is yes! That makes this card powerful and awesome! I will be using this in MBC for sure!

I like this in U/B mill/control with Undead Alchemist. Essence Scatter gives this ammo there's never anything wrong with adding mileage to your counter spells. Not to mention all the other graveyard fillers in the same colors between direct mill, creature destruction, discard, and counters.

Oh dammit, I thought I was so clever planning to run this with Treacherous Pit-Dweller, then I checked the comment...
This set sure has a lot of graveyard hate. This card is so good, though, I would play it even if I wasn't graveyard hatin'.

This card is so glorious I don't even know what to say. Conditional, but exile a card from opponents graveyard and get a 2/2 with flash for one black mana. Not only that, of course, but also gets bonuses from BG Innistrad/RtR token decks. Absolutely bonkers, I'm going to be using this card as long as I can and then some.

I'm running 4 copies in my Mind Rot-Deck. Enemy graveyards are full of dropped creatures to harvest.
better than sarcomancy! works at instant speed with no foreseeable drawbacks!
I know I know... but really... how hard is it to get a creature in the graveyard? really...

The instant speed is what makes this golden. You could flash in a blocker and/or eat a creature the opponent is attempting to reanimate. It has a lot of practical uses that makes it a worthy sideboard, and for some builds, mainboarding.

Regardless, if you're making a deck with a lot of cheap creatures with penalties (Vampire Lacerator, Carnophage, Jackal Familiar, etc.), you may as well play both.
Damn, that's like your oponent's creatures are in a zombie apocalypse movie.
