So it's basically an Ancestral Recall in U/G Mill yourself? Very nice!

No it's not ancestral in dredge, but it's better than Mental Note at least. I wish they'd brought Wilford Brimley back for another cameo in this one though.

Great when you need just a little something to get your graveyard started.
Not unreasonable in a mill deck either.

And I thought Phyrexian invasion on Mirrodin was creepy, this card has comparably morbid art

Phyrexia comes to Innistrad! They infected the Helvault, and now... now.... aw crud. There goes the multiverse.

Looks like left over New Phyrexia art. Probably why it's my favorite in the set. So dark. The card itself is pretty good in any kind of mill deck. Little more control then Dream Twist but if you milling your opponent Dream Twist is still better due to the flashback. I'd reserve this for milling yourself although the extra draw does help a lot.

Visions of Beyond is new Ancestral Recall for self-milling or dredge... Doesn't change fact that this is useful for those archetypes too. I think this could find home in decks build around Jace's Erasure too.

Yea, this isn't painful to look at. That said, I will likely be looking at this card a lot.

No flashback Not a creature cant top sift for the one card you want in your hand
I think this is the most horrific and gruesome art on any magic card ever. Something about this one just curdles my blood. That flavor text too. We better see a Stitcher Geralf legendary creature at some point, and he better be freaking insane.

Officially the creepiest artwork I've ever seen on a magic card. Brrrrr....... *shudders*

The people of Innistrad aren't very efficient. They need to drill into someone's head to mill 2 cards. In M10, you could mill 5 cards just by pulling the words out of a book.

For those who don't know, this scene is based off of the very real process of experimental ablation, in which the subject's head is held still in an eerily similar device while a given section of the brain is destroyed- either through literal removal of the tissue, or by causing lesions in the area through chemical or electrical means (Which is what the viscus vitae is for in this example). Through this, mankind has made great strides in the understanding of the human brain and how it functions. This process is normally done on mice in the most humane way possible, but we all know that Innistrad scientists like to crank it up to 11.
The card's effect also reflects the process of experimental ablation. By destroying part of the brain (player sends 2 cards from the library to the graveyard, we learn something new about the brain (draw a card).

This seems nice for the many decks that benefit from self mill in inistrad. Outside of standard a deck utilizing haunting echoes, this would fit nicely. Unless you want to abuse the yard somehow, ponder is a much better choice.

i think this card will get really annoying, REALLY fast with isochron scepter.
This card flows so well with Jace's Erasure in a standard mill deck so well. Three cards milled, you draw a card. Draw another one of these with mana to burn, the milling continues! I bought a set of this just to tweak my mill deck. AWWWW YEAHHHH

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned a combo with Grim Lavamancer in blue/red burn/control. It supplies the fodder the Lavamancer needs while throwing out cards that you may not have wanted by way of a ponder.

In drafts, just pick as many you can put your hands on.
Interestingly enough, this works well both in and against Miracle decks.

While ponder is the closest thing we've seen to ancestral recall in a long time, this is easily a screwed up version of ancestral recall and it's in standard. Should ponder just be done away with as is what seems to be the case, then this should be your go to card. Forbidden alchemy and Think twice all go along very nicely with this card in a colour that is becoming quite milly-vanilly nowadays.

Good card! I love it, the art looks weird, but it gives you quite an advantage for one cost. The problem is...i pulled this from an m13 booster pack. glitch, but it made my fourth, so I was happy!

Given what's going on in the art, it's difficult to imagine me actually doing this to myself, which is what I do 99% of the time.
This card single-handedly makes Geralf's Messenger make sense now. The first one is essentially a non-zombie who's become what amounts to a zombie from Geralf. When you kill him the first time; it comes back to life because now it's an *actual* zombie.

One of my favorite deck thinners. Not the most powerful, but I love hitting someone right after a worldly tutor or something of that sort.

Useless in selfmill (the only mill I like).
In normal opponent mill though? priceless.
The illustration reminds me of Lobotomy...this should be its art if reprinted.
