This is just so quality 3/3 haste for 3, plus the bonus of the scavenge

The Golgari had Woodwraith Strangler in old Ravnica. Now they have this. Live for the Swarm!

I am a pro and I think plant zombies are pretty sweet. Especially plant zombies with scavenge.

I'm having a hard time deciding weather or not I should put this in a 3cmc slot over Vampire Nighthawk in my B/G aggro deck. Nighthawk's Flying + Lifelink make it a fantastic beatstick, especially with Rancor; the Flying + Deathtouch makes it a great defender.
But the Haste + 3/3 + split color cost makes me think, 'This just beats face better.' Plus, it's Scavenge ability gives 3 +1/+1's at 5 mana; while not a game-ender on-par with Wolfir Silverheart in and of its own, it is a great mid-late game boost to, say, Champion of Lambholt. Corpsejack Menace in the mix would be just gravy. Eat him with a Lotleth Troll, and it's sitting in the graveyard for later use (if you need it).
Plus...he's a Zombie. And my Gravecrawlers loooooove other Zombies.
I'm going to have to give the slot to Dreg Mangler, at least in this set-up

Duel Decks: Plants Vs. Zombies no longer as good idea as:
Premium Deck Series: Plants and Zombies.
Too bad PDS is discontinued :/

3/3 haste for 3 is good for draft, adding scavenge means this could very well see some standard play. Also, plant zombie is sweet.

Not sure if it's the "cheap" scavenge cost or the haste outside of red that's giving it uncommon. Slitherhead says it's the scavenge, but Strangleroot Geist tells me it's the haste.
which one do I believe?

This guy was a beast at the prerelease for me, very early pressure in a format that at least where I was playing didn't see very many creatures before turn three.

Hey, it's a scavenge card that doesn't completely suck! In fact, it's pretty good! 4 stars.

This zombie is very good in midrange. Haste on a 3/3 three drop is very good. Then late game, giving your finishing creature three +1 counters has the potential of being game winning. The Scavenging cost isn't cheap, but that won't matter late in the game.

It's a pity that a 3 cmc hasty 3/3 with a useful and flavorful ability and a nice creature type stands by moments with rating less than 4. People are getting too used to overpowered-ness and no one appreciates what, in my opinion, is one of the best creatures with scavenge, and a golgari-punch to the face. BACK TO THE SWARM!!

This card is a good example of how scavenge should be costed
Scavenge 3 ~ 5 mana cost
I would suggest the three mana range for a creature with two power
3/3 haste on a 3 cost multi colored creature is also pretty awesome!
Love it when creatures have more than one selling points that arent necessarely related to the same strategy.
Solid 4 from me

@ RAV0004
It's not the fact that he has haste (black has several creatures with haste - it's haste in GREEN that is unusual for the color pie.)
My guess is the amount you get for the mana. Most 3 CMC haste creatures have a P under 3, those that don't are uncommon or even rare in extreme cases. in addition, he has no drawback. A 3/3 for 3 is a decent common. A 3/3 haste is a boring uncommon. a 3 CMC 3/3 Zombie with haste with a decent second ability is getting an awful lot for your money. Consider he would easily be rare and very fun if he was a 4/3.

In many ways, I feel this splits the difference between Boggart Ram-Gang (3/3 Haste for 3 CMC) and Sprouting Thrinax (3/3 for 3 CMC that puts 3 points of power on the field after it dies). It's a welcome addition to my modern Jund deck.

I'm kind of curious as to how this thing reproduces. Does it flower in the spring time or does it have the equivalent of old people sex?

I run four of these in my standard Golgari Zombies deck. They are an absolute powerhouse. Being able to pump out an extra three unexpected damage when my opponent's creatures are all tapped has won me many a game, and he's excellent food for Lotleth Troll if you plan on going into the late game. It gets even better when you scavenge those three extra +1/+1 counters onto the already trampling Troll, or onto anything with Rancor.

I run this card in an all zombie deck (I play only at the table), and its sweet, my friends hate this thing. Tie this together with undead warchief and death baron it becomes a handful. Plus a scavenge ability, this thing wrecks the field.

Plant Zombie...with haste.
Apparently crossing a shambling corpse with an immobile green machine gives you a super fast flesh eating vine thing....that's eco friendly and salvageable.

How Scavenge should be. On a decent, if not incredible creature, and a somewhat expensive price that doesn't matter so long as you don't have anything better to spend it on.

I run 4 of these with Glistening Oil in my B/G infect deck.
Once the oil kills them off Scavenge comes into play for more important zombies like Phyrexian Crusader.

This guy is great. 3/3 haste on turn 3 - that's pretty solid. Scavenge makes him just that little bit better, especially with Varolz, the Scar-Striped.

My favorite Golgari card. For some reason, the artwork looks a lot like Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund. Now I want to see a card with creature type Plant Dragon Zombie.

With most Golgari decks being filled with creatures like Lotleth Troll and Splinterfright, this guy goes a long way to offering some stability in the early game. His 3/3 stats are excellent for keeping your opponent down for those first few turns, and the haste is just a bonus.
Being one of the few reasonable Scavenge creatures goes a long way to giving this guy a place in the often late-game plans of the Golgari, though. And as everybody else has said, Zombie tribal has never been happier.
3/3 haste for 3 is already very good, plus it has a scavenge mechanic and belongs to the zombie tribe. To top it all off its blessed at the uncommon rarity when it could have easily been rare.

Even better than the card itself, the holiday gift box promo is all kinds of beautiful. I have 2. This guy is an all-star in my Golgari deck. I have even been known to use a removal spell on him to make something else bigger for a finisher.
