Amy Weber drew this? I don't buy it - there aren't any skeletons.

@Kirbster

That's actually pretty funny. I would have said gears.

I never liked that gem name. Just pick one and stick with it, you don't need two names!

I want to tap a land for mana, sac a creature for ashnods alter and then untap my land!
I just found a combo that lets me untap a land that's amazing!

Make one of your lands produce 9 mana by itself (using multiple Fertile Ground effects), have this in play, tap the super-charged land, cast Whispers of the Muse with buyback, untap the land, repeat and draw your library.

I'm sure I've seen comboes that involve a land with only one or two enchantments on it, though. Instead of like seven.

The funny thing is, in Minecraft, Lapis Lazuli is pretty useless also. Poor stuff gets hated on in every game.

Use Research with Isochron Scepter, Battle of Wits, Lapis Lazuli Talisman, and an infinite mana combo (lets use two Palladium Myrs and a Myr Galvanizer).

Cast Battle of Wits, the two Palladium Myrs and the Galvanizer. Go infinite with the Myrs and cast the Talisman and then the Scepter exiling Research. Pay 2 from the infinite mana and tap the Scepter to cast a Research copy, pay 3 to activate the Talisman's ability and untap the Scepter, rinse and repeat. Keep doing that until you have 200 or more cards in your library, then wait a turn to win the game. Or, if your impatient, use Time Warp.

I'm thinking Contagion Engine + Clockspinning + multi-kicked Everflowing Chalice + Blue Mana Battery. Here's how it goes- Tap the everflowing chalice for say, 12. Then tap the blue mana battery for two blue. Cast Clockspinning with buyback for . Then pay 3 for Lapis Lazuli's ability to untap the chalice. Then pay 4 for the proliferate from the engine to make your blue mana battery and everflowing chalice tap for more mana. FUN, FUN, FUN!

And it's only a 4-card combo that you get out 7th turn.

Hmm...It's not a very efficient combo, and I can't help but think that there are better ones out there to do the same thing, but I want to run this alongside of Tolarian Academy and Magus of the Future. In a deck full of artifacts and blue spells (and blue artifacts, for that matter). As long as you had three more artifacts in play than the converted mana cost of the top card of your deck, you could cast it, then untap the Academy, losing no mana in the process. As for getting around lands, a simple Mana Severance should do just fine, once the combo is up and running.

Strictly better than Mox Sapphire

Outside of Commander, this card is pretty much garbage. Even in Commander, this card is pretty much garbage. The only halfway decent things I can think of that don't involve a permanent tapping for insane amounts of mana: Merieke Ri Berit or Arcanis the Omnipotent (as Commanders). If you have three colorless mana left over after you play a spell, drawing three cards is a great way to spend that three mana. Killing the creature you stole previously before taking a new one is also worth three mana. Heck, maybe I'd even use this card with Lady of Scrolls? Probably not, though. 5 mana for one card, 8 mana for two cards, etc, is really a bad deal, especially since you have to cast spells to make it work.
