Pretty cool, but costly, good thing it's green.

Pretty little fly.
Why does he cry?
Caught in a web.
Soon he'll be... eaten.

Spider Tribal? Never thought I'd live to see that. Going to be good friends with my Deadly Recluses.
Except for the "...search your graveyard and library for a card named...", which is usually something you see in yu-gi-oh cards. Not complaining, just pointing it out.

This seems too yu-gi-oh-esque to me, both the GY search and the specific naming of another card. I dislike it on those grounds, but the creature itself, sans silly ability, is good enough to block 2 of the titans and live(grave kills, frost bypasses, inferno kills).

What's so terrible about being able to recur enchantments? Searching graveyards can't be that uncommon/strange in this game, and neither is naming specific cards. The Heralds for example?

I like it. I wouldn't be shocked to see cards in Innistrad that search graveyards.

I hate spiders in real life so much, but I kinda like them in Magic. It's nice to see a rare one, plus it's ability is just so flavorful.

ETA:
Holy hell, I only just noticed you can search your graveyard as well. This card just got 3 times more awesome.

Almost completely eliminates the "...if enchanted creature's power is 4 or greater" downside of Arachnus Web. Even if it's cast off a powerful creature, like a Titan, just tap a Spider to re-web them next turn. Rinse and repeat. As long as you have enough Spiders to tap, you can keep almost any creature down for the count. Nifty!

I'm sure we have Doug Beyer to thank for cool top-down designs like this -and even if he didn't design this card, I can see his influence all over the set.

I'm such a genius, I predicted that they would put a spider lord in this set or the next. it turns out it was this set!

I currently have an insect deck that has a few spiders in it, like silklash spider and deadly recluse, but I'm hoping to create an arachnid-only deck.

I love this card. Spiders could end up being a fun tribe. Lockdown control in green? As fun as beatdown blue.

What we need is a reprint of Deadly Recluse to cement it. (Swarmyard too, as mentioned.) Some spidery representation in Innistrad? I think they would fit the setting well. I'm sick of elves!

Now THIS is a frikin SPIDER. I always though Giant Spider and it's like where just no strong enough to warrent placement. I'd rather have one of green's many ways to just outright kill or disable anything that flies in one shot. But this guy is beef. Like people are saying, 6 cc really isn't bad, especially for green.

Just for this block, build a green/white spider deck around this guy and have 4 auramancers ready to recover lost webs. Brilliant.

If this said you couldn't search your graveyard, this would be unplayable.

Amazing flavor though, with this and the web combined.

Really cool concept. I like it.
Bit costly though, and it coulda used Hexproof.

Best part is though, with Umbra Mystic, you can give your guys a free life as an instant. That's actually kinda terrifying.

So I'm sorry for souding dumb, I missed quite a few editions (last I bought was 2 packs or Lorwyn),
But what -is- the attached effect? does it have to be paired up with another card to take effect?
I like the fact you can search it wherever you need, helps trimming the deck and get some speed on, but I still can't see what the attached effect could be.
TheSwarm
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
That... Isn't... terrible. With beast within in standard, monogreen spider control? Eh.

@Phibius2: When you enchant something, the enchantment becomes attached. When you equip something, it becomes attached. It is just a word for it being "enchanted" by the arachnus web, except you dont actually cast the spell.

This is a pretty good card. I see no true negatives to it, and all of it's generic spider bases have been covered (that being Reach and a high defense).

It's Toughness is higher than it's CMC, which is pretty good, although that really isn't a huge bonus in this time of MTG.
Obviously, it's main feature point is it's Nissa Revane-esque effect, but instead of getting a 2/3 elf with scry-like immortality (FYI I'm referring to Nissa's Chosen) you get a green Arrest that is a little weaker.

I guess you could also argue that this effect is better because you can do it more times than 1 per term.

Generally, it is a good card. Not Primeval Titan-like good, but Sengir Vampire-like good. I see no flaws. 4.5/5

★★★★☆ (4.0/5.0) (2 votes)
Yep, high toughness, specifically toughness 7, meaning it can block a titan and live. And at the same cost, this is definitely a card to watch.

At first I thought it was a lame enters-the-battlefield ability, and only searched libraries. Then I realized I had been grossly misreading the card, and discovered that it's actually incredibly cool. Perhaps not useful outside of limited and casual, but definitely cool.

Pretty interesting, and great flavour.

The yugioh comparison seems a little unfair. Because you are targeting a very small number of cards, obviously at most 4, with the spider it would be downright terrible if you could only search your library! Imagine that, you could go through your selection of webs in just a turn or two. The way I see it, it states both graveyard and library because this seems only fair and balanced, especially considering the delicate nature of the web.

All in all this seems like a fun card. I'm glad, also, that a theme deck was made around it. Certainly adds an interesting twist on the standard "Beat your opponent into the earth with big green creatures" theme deck. 4.5/5 great design.

well it's obvious Innastrid will have zombies, but spiders do go well in a horror theme... maybe even a few more that aren't overcosted. Seriously spiders are like green drakes. And griffons are white drakes. You know they're just laughing to themselves when they create a spider, drake or griffon. Don't forget to make it overcosted! This and the deadly recluse, though, and that windstorm on a stick, awesome. Just need a couple more usable ones and we've got something

Now if only we had more cost efficient drakes...

I have a question about this card. My friend had a Spirit Mantle equipped on a creature which makes it protection from creatures. My question is: Is the Arachnus Spinner ability able to be used to target said creature with Spirit Mantle on it?

went undefeated in my first M12 draft with a spider deck with two of him at the head and three Adaptive Automaton's and Garruk , spiders look a lot meaner with him around, and are not bad as a tribe, lots and lots of flyer-hate, never had to try and keep Garruk alive, or just had to overrun for the win

Combine with Quest for Renewal for some wacky shenanigans.

I do hope that Innistrad has more stuff for spiders. It would be a nice change from elves and beasties. Which don't get me wrong are fun, but some change would be nice.

You know one thing that I absolutely don't get? Why is it that insects are very broadly classed as "Insect" in M:TG, yet arachnids are split up into genuses like "Spider" and "Scorpion"? Insects are incredibly diverse, probably more so than arachnids, and yet they are not separated. By that logic, the spiders and scorpions should be similarly classified as "Arachnids". Not to mention that would be pretty practical if WotC ever decides to introduce a solifuge or opilion card.

Oh, and one more thing. Why is that spiders generally have higher toughness than power in M:TG when spiders are in truth incredibly deadly, efficient and, in my opinion, beautiful predators?

Tiggurix, insects have six legs and three body sections. Arachnids are more diverse in SHAPE. You could possibly mistake an ant for a beetle (if you glanced it, and it was dark...I dunno, bad example?) but never a spider for a scorpion. And they have higher toughness because they're Green's answer to flying. In reality, some should have first strike, like jumping spiders, and high power.

@Tantudo: I really don't think you did that in a draft, since you listed six rares there and I'm pretty sure there's no way you got them with only three booster packs. Even allowing for someone passing you a rare because they absolutely needed some other card, there's no way I believe that someone passed you ANY amount of Adaptive automatons, they work in any deck.

@Amnesigenic: Tantudo was probably talking about Sealed draft, where you open six, not three boosters, and thus would get at least six rares or mythic rares, more if you got a foil that was also a rare or mythic.

I love this card. Spider tribal has been a long time coming. I just wish it was out a year before, back when my brother still played his spider tribal deck. It would have been a beast.

I wish it didn't say "attached to target creature"
For those of you who don't know, when an Aura is put into play without being attached, you attach it to an object it could enchant, without targeting it (303.4f). This lets you attach it to permanents with shroud, or your opponent's permanents with hexproof.

Where to begin... this card is awesome:
-Not overpowered
-Unique
-Insanely flavourful
-Spider (so, huge defence and reach *Good For Green*)
-Great power for spider
-Green control (always helpful)
-Allows arachnus web to be played as an instant
-Even if the creature you target with arachnus web has a power over 4, the aura still effectively stifles its attacking for a turn before it is destroyed. This becomes significant considering it can be played each turn from the graveyard
-It allows spiders to block, then tap to play webs, blocking two oncoming attackers
-Supports spider tribal
-Epic fantasy Art
-Awesome and fruitful new mechanic of card dualism. (two specific cards working together)
-$Inexpensive$

WIN! WIN! WIN!

in the future there should be a plane dominated by spiders because it is about time for some spider tribal. it think that some spiders should have an ability like this where X is a number and Y is a cost:

Y; Web X (put X web counters on target creature. at the end of it's controler's end steps remove web counters from it equal to it's power)

and then that spider (or other cards) has abilities like:

Creatures your opononents control with web counters on them can't atack or block

Creatures your opononents control with web counters on them lose flying

Creatures your opononents control with web counters on them get -0/-2

then spider tribal would be powerful b/c every new spider you play adds a new efect for the web counters.

also, am i the only one that thinks a set that is Phyrexian V.s. Eldrazi would be awesome

"-It allows spiders to block, then tap to play webs, blocking two oncoming attackers"

I'm sorry to tell you this, but I don't think that works. It's already been declared as attacking, so you can't really pacify it while it's swinging at your face.

This is SUCH an amazing creature(perhaps my favorite green creature card)! I don't understand why no one here ever plays this card! First of all, it's a 5/7: a really beefy creature. It puts your opponent on a 4-turn clock, and can block titans without dying(with Inferno Titan's firebreathing as an exception). Secondly, this thing has reach, so this guy can pick off Delvers and all sorts of fliers(I don't think there's one in limited right now that's actually big enough to bring this thing down without pump spells, even the Falkenrath Aristocrat would require some human sacrifices to do it.) Lastly, this guy's ability is just AMAZING. It's great for green control, which is something I don't see a lot of. You can reuse your Arachnus Web over and over and over and OVER again, webbing down their weenies and even their fatties, as long as you reattach the web right after it falls off at the end of turn(so that it will stay on for another turn). Furthermore, his ability doesn't have the 'tap' symbol, which translates into 'screw summoning sickness' and can be used by tapping other spiders, summoning sickness or no. 5/5

For anyone who think that this spider can attached things that have evasion to Green or hexproof or shroud is wrong. Yes, your argument is correct that the spell arachnus web "Attaches" itself to a target creature, but you have already overlooked something very Important.

Rule Text for THIS card: "... and put it onto the battlefield attached to 'target creature."

This card targets a creature, and while Arachnus Web doesn't target a creature using this web, THIS card IS. That means, no prop green, no hexproof, and no shroud's can be attached with Arachnus Web. Not because Web is being attached, but because Arachnus Spinner targets HIMSELF.

Spiders are actually bringing control back. This allows for:
- Instant Speed Arachnus Web !FOR PRACTICALLY FREE! (No hand disadvantage)
- Can block an attack for 1 turn by tapping a spider (More if target creature is Power < 4).
- Continueless uses from Arachnus Web (Reached limit at 4? Get em from the grave!)
- Bypass Summoning Sickness (It taps a creature with an ability, not as a cost, bypassing SS condition.)

All in all 4.5 / 5, Not 5 / 5 because of an underrated and undersupported Archtype.
PLEASE SHOW MORE LOVE FOR SPIDERS IN THE FUTURE SETS... PLEASE!!!!!

Spiders is a fun tribal and I find it kinda funny that its one of those tribals that has never gotten a huge spotlight from wizards considering there's new spiders printed in almost every set. This and Deadly Recluse, Silklash Spider, Penumbra Spider, and Dragonlair Spider are among my favorites. My friends have a habit of singing the spiderman jingle whenever they see me tap a spider with this guy out. Hugely powerful ability and a fat but, solid. 4.5/5
