"Whenever an opponent casts a spell" should be wordfiltered to "When playing EDH and an opponent casts a spell". I guess they justify the powerful effect stapled to an exceedingly efficient creature by the hefty colour commitment and the colour combination (Red/Green has some of the most efficient creatures. I love you Rumbling Slum! Basically a 6/5 for 4 that pings you for 1 each turn...).
TL;DR: Going in Ulasht EDH.

Thank you, Wizards, for more epic spiders. This one has the potential to fit in a lot of Jund sacrifice/token decks. On the other hand, I'd play it just because it's a spider. A spider that eats dragons.

Yes, more powerful spiders for my spider deck. This combos beautifully with my swarmyards and is also another red permanent for Ember Weaver.

Wizards, keep it up and print more great spiders.

Wait... its a Spider... that spawns Insects? What? Its a fantastic card, but why the heck does it spawn other creature types?

@ClockworkSwordfish: I'm not sure what you mean about it should be wordfiltered. It was released in a non-EDH multiplayer format.

@Silver-Paladin: The flavor text is a hint. The spider eats dragons and which attracts insects that eat the leftovers.

Great spider overall and perfect for multiplayer.

@Silver-Paladin: you're assuming it's a femaie spider. Perhaps it's male.

Nice body, not overly aggressively costed, token producing machine...I like it. 4/5.

In my oppinion, it should have been;

2RedRedGreenGreen
Reach
Other Spider and/or Insect creatures you control gain +1/+1
Whenever an opponent plays a spell, but a 1/1 Spider Creature onto the field
5/6

It would have given me a lord creature that I could have infidelity more possibilities in a Spider tribal. It SEEMS like they made this to boost the power of Spider tribal decks with the surgery it has with Ember Spider, Swarmyard, and other Spider cards, but it just feels like it fell down and is used more for cards that rely on multiple creatures on the field because it spawns Insects which don't gain bonuses at all from spider related cards D:

Still, a great card that I'm going to run 1 or 2 of in my GreenRedBlack Spider Deck :)

Filler card in Commander's Arsenal. I hope it's loved enough by Spider Players.

I think so far it's the only card revealed that's depressingly unexciting for such a highly anticipated product. However, I offer this explanation: The Planechase 2012 and Commander cards have some favoritism to get picked because they've never appeared in Foil before, and also they were designed mostly with this format in mind. I'm sure that Planechase-Commander and Archenemy-Commander get played MUCH more heavily than 60c-PC or 60c-AE.

I'm not yet calling 'it's the Desert of the set' until other people start hating on it- until then, it's 'the Kird Ape of the set'- ie might actually be desired even if it's unvaluable.

I wonder how Dirk the Daring will handle this thing...

Another epic card for my Riku Endless Copies EDH deck (creatures that do copies of themselves).
