I love the hint in the flavor text, and the fact that this easily kills the terrifying Thundermaw Hellkite without fearing its tap ability. Welcome back, you cute, deadly little spider.

This card is amazing for green. Really hope this little bug sees some standard play.

When I first got a hold of this little buddy, there was plenty of reasons I used this. But there was one in particular. One flying threat I hated. I couldn't stand the threat it possessed. How fitting they were reprinted together. Vampire Nighthawk.

Cheap, efficient, and literally deadly, this guy is a bargain that all green decks should consider if they have trouble with flyers. 5/5

Play this turn 2 and Delver decks actually stop for a moment and start taking thought to run

There's a suspiciously large number of the (relatively) playable spider reprints (and one new borderline playable spider too) in M13. Could there be... a spider lord in Return to Ravnica?
In all seriousness, this card is a great answer for fliers and ground walkers alike. It is also well costed. I can see this getting put in a number of sideboards and maybe even some main-decks, if the new standard has prevalent fliers.

It's pretty much a Thornweald Archer with power and toughness swapped.

@divinewind08 - If nothing else, it takes care of the friggin' Nighthawk.

Anyways this guy rocks!!! It was a tough choice not to maindeck him though, ambush viper is better at killing things. But this little bugger is solid.

@ infernox10: Those two reprints are the reason I'm making a B/G deck for Standard. Along with Typhoid Rats and Naturalize, I'll have plenty of time to play big threats.

One of the best commons in the set, this guy kills dragons and angels for cheap.

There are better two mana cards for your main deck, but this is amazing for a sideboard designed to respond to flyers. He can survive any 1/1 early game and trade for even the toughest flyers later.

Sick early insurance on the board for while you work to get other stuff out.

I prefer this over Thornweald Archer when not playing an Elf deck—both are going to kill whatever they block anyway, and this has a little bit more staying power.

It works well in a deck that has master biomancers and cards like prey upon and giant growth. and use cards like rebirth to bring him back to remove threats that you can't pass.

Thornweald Archer is better in a duel because it puts your opponent on a clock but this is better in multiplayer because it survives to blocking weenies.
