Totally iconic card. The new style of card frame suits the art better, I think.

I agree OMFGrhombus, the new cart frame fits gorgeously with Mirari's art. Other than that, it's just good old Mirari, still as incredible as ever.

Agreed with all before me. One of those cases where I think the border shift was a good idea.

I like that they put this great card in the same package as Isochron Scepter. Five mana might seem a bit intensive to copy whatever card is imprinted on the Scepter... but something about doing that feels so awesome. :D

So if you look into the reflection of the mirari, is that someone watching a flatscreen tv?

how does it work with spells that have "as an additional cost sacrifice a creature"? for example Fling?

@Guest1661376406 : Since you don't actually cast the spell again, you don't need to pay any costs, mana or otherwise. If you copy a kicked spell, you'll get a kicked copy. If you copy an X spell, you get the same value of X on your copy.

i don't get why this card was put in the vault, I can see its uses, and i agree that it is great as what it does, but i don't see how what it does is so great

obviously it was not put in here for no reason, will some one enlighten me if i am missing something?

@Collossus_of_Darkstee: Quite possibly. After all, it gives you what you want, not what you need.

@bijart_dauth

I'm assuming they put it here because of how much story relevance it had. It was a pretty nasty/big object in the storyline at one time.

It's the Oddysey expansion symbol, for goodness sake!

I like the new border. If you play a comet storm and then copy it, can you choose new targets for the copies? Normally it specifies, like "You may choose new targets for the copies" so I wasn't sure.

Why yes, I would like to almost double my damage with Comet Storm, Rolling Thunder, Searing Wind, or any number of other high-damage red cards. Thank you.

Even more fun if you can work Chandra Ablaze into the game.

All right, think about it this way.You have a fire elemental on the board, along with this. They have, lets say, twenty life. Cast lava axe, deals ten cuz of fire elemental, use this, and you just won with a dealt twenty damage with a card that costs five and is a common. you may think that there are so many ways to counter this combo, but think about it. You'd have to be running a blue control with tons of removal. And the fire elemental/ lava axe combo is absolutely devastating. You could lose in two turns.

So why aren't Mirrorworks & Minion Reflector also legendary? They double permanents for less than this and they're not even mythics.

@dragy148816: What Lava Axe / Fire Elemental combo? Fire Elemental is a vanilla creature, and Lava Axe is about as close as you can get to a vanilla burn spell. Did you mean to name some creature that increases the damage of burn spells? Or some burn spell that works better if you control an elemental?

On the card itself, it's not really fair to judge a card this way, but it's really underwhelming compared to the lore about it. It's supposed to be a source of nigh-limitless power, granting the wielder whatever they wish. You'd think that you'd get some sort of effect that would almost guarantee a win, to any deck that could ever get it out. As it is, it's nicely useful if you're playing burn, or maybe comboed with an epic spell or something, but even there, it won't guarantee the win, and in most decks, it won't help you much at all. This doesn't get you whatever you want; it just gets you more of what you already have, and that only if you already have the right sort of thing.

@bijart duath: you may note that this is a LEGENDARY artifact. You are looking at the artifact that Karn, Silver Golem turned into Memnarch. In many ways that makes this the card that Mirrodin Block is all about. This also is the same artifact which, correct me please anyone if I'm wrong, but wasn't this also turned into a SWORD at one point and actually killed Akroma and Jeska/Phage in their combined Akroma form? I'm being breif here, which probably means I'm skipping details which makes me technically wrong. But on top of all THAT (yes, I think there is, in fact, more) isn't the Mirari one of the Artifacts of the Legacy?!

Making the Mirari a key element of the Weatherlight Saga, Onslaught Block, and Mirrodin Block. Yeah, I'd say this qualifies as a Mythic Rare Relic.

And in case you feel like doing something particularly bonkers, when one Blightsteel Colossus just isn't enough, this has a rather zany interaction with Tinker.

@RatzGobbler- because there's more ways to deal with creatures and artifacts than anything else, and practically nothing you can do about INSTANTS getting COPIED, unless you have a deck that hates against storm. and even then, Storm laughs when you try to beat it at its own game, taps a blue mana, and counters all your copied counters and then its copies go ahead and hit your face anyway.

@Darth Parallax: First of all, i agree with you in why the artifact should be mythic, but you do have some details wrong. First of all the Mirari was attached to the hilt of Kamahl's sword, it didn't transform into one. Secondly, the Mirari has nothing to do with the legacy, unless you count being made by Karn as part of it, which i certainly don't. The Mirari was a defective probe sent to Dominaria to gather inspiration for the creation and population of Argentum, later known as Mirrodin.

Aside from minor details most people couldn't care more about, you are right in that this artifact has been part of three blocks, and is about as mythic as they come. Personally, I wish it was a bit stronger, but at least it is functional and flavorful, as it amplifies spells just like it did in the books.

@Guest1661376406:
You copy the effect, not the cost.
As you have already paid the cost of Fling initially, you just pay 3 from Mirari to copy it and then play it.

i have a little question... can i copy a spell multiple times with this artifact??
adrian.malacoda
★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (1 vote)
@CruentusPurgare

No. The ability is a triggered one, which allows you to pay 3 to copy a spell when it is cast. When a spell is copied it is not cast again, so the Mirari's ability will not trigger again.

@darthparallax actually the mirari was placed inside the sword of Kamahl after Chainer used it and died. The sword itself was forged by Balthor the dwarf. It was described by Sethon and Krosa as reflecting the person's innermost desires. But as to Jeska/Phage fusion, they were the same person. Jeska was captured injured by Braids and corrupted by the Cabal Patriarch. You were referring I believe to just Phage.

Mirari + Seething Song = Infinite Mana?
Destroy2777
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@mccrayp No. When you make a copy of the card, that is NOT casting an instant or sorcery. You can't apply the effect to the same card twice. Remember: you are COPYING that card, not CASTING another.
