idk its cheap, good opening hand card.
Also makes your opponent think twice before bringing in a creature, maybe just not play a token factory.

Soul Warden is just a solid, solid little one drop. Very good in multiplayer.

For a one-drop, this card is amazing. In multi-player, this thing will take off, particularly if you have some way of safe-guarding it from kills.

Black/White and White/Green both have some pretty amazing options with this guy out in play.

This with a bunch of cards with phasing =p

Don't underestimate this card. It seems just okay at first, but just one of these on the field can have your health going up quickly. Every time I've seen this card played or I've played this card, it's done many times better than you would think it would.

Yaaaa, this and mycoloth is beautiful! And bitterblossom too, can guarantee steady life gain.

Soul's Attendant from Rise of the Eldrazi is almost exactly the same, except the life gain is optional.

Every time I see this card played, I do a double take because the art looks like she's feeling herself up at a glance.

My friend played a game with me with these in her decks. She played 2 early in the game, and rose to 40 life!! I still won, but wow...+10 life each from 2 of these guys!

It looks like she's massaging her... you know.

She looks a lot like Michelle Forbes... (Admiral Caine on BSG, Ensign Ro on TNG)

... Thi should be uncommon at least. This card is sick in multiplayer, if you can't get rid of it...

Yeah, I agree. Great one drop in multiplayer and/or in a deck that spits out a lot of creatures. Even with an average amount of creatures you still end up getting a decent amount of health if you get to play it early. To ElbowWarrior: Phasing does NOT trigger "when x comes into play" or "when x leaves play" abilities anymore, so it doesn't combo with this card.

Whenever I've seen this card be played it gets destroyed. Immediately. Except this one time, when it got destroyed on the turn after it was played. People say this is great in multiplayer. I'd have to agree but the thing with that is is that all mtg games are multiplayer and people are making it sound like its an option to play by yourself, with only 1 deck.

Can make a good combo piece, and the lifegain can slow down your opponent. It's a nice card to play early.

Check out Essence Warden if you need this to be green or an elf.

I used to have 4 Soul's Attendants in one of my decks, but I kept forgetting to give myself the life. So I bought 4 Soul Wardens instead and now no matter what I HAVE to gain life. Thank you Soul Warden!

Nothing wrong with extra life. Ha, when my white deck is just giving me animosity, Soul Warden becomes my offensive card. 12/13 flying Soul Warden with first strike, attack! XD

If your opponent uses a card that turns their lands into creatures would you collect life points from that?

This card is perhaps my favorite one drop in the game. Combine it with Ajani's Pridemate and you're good to go.

Better in play than it looks as a card on its own. Becomes Lightning Bolt / Galvanic Blast fodder when I see it played.

This + Darien, King of Kjeldor = You have to one-shot me, or it isn't going to work.

Great multiplayer card. Mooches off everyone, and since it is defensive people are leery of using their removal on it.

@Argionelite: Intruder Alarm. Requires you to run three colors, but it's there and your opponents will hate you for it. Infinite life and infinite Goblins!

@ ElMikkino

That's exactly why I dislike this card's design. When your criteria for a card being "better" for deckbuilding is that it forces your opponent to remind you to maintain game state, it's a badly designed card.

The real evaluation between Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant should be between Mindslaver-like effects (Soul Warden is marginally better) vs. Rain of Gore-like effects (Soul's Attendant is much better.) Sadly, the design of Soul Warden makes this decision pale in comparison to forcing your opponent to remind you to gain life.

I'd say the card is 4/5 for casual play, 1/5 for design.

Pretty decent white 1 drop. It'd rate very highly among white's best, though there are arguably a bunch that come ahead (Mother of Runes for sure, Figure of Destiny - though that's obviously more aggressively oriented, Martyr of Sands possibly, and a few other cards for various purposes). Still, very solid - and the more players going around, the better she gets. When I was first starting out MTG I won a Felidar Sovereign victory in a 6 player MP game, and it was largely due to her incidental lifegain.

@Continue - trust me, if you have infinite creatures, usually infinite life is just an unnecessary bonus. Of course it's better than not, but it also requires a third card and color as opposed to the usual two (never mind that you can do it in 2 colors with Thraben Doomsayer :-P).

These guys get removed every time I play them- with something like Lightning Bolt or Doom Blade. But hey, that's great! When I'm swinging with my Champion of the Parish soul bonded to my Silverblade Paladin five turns later, I'm glad that the removal spell is gone. Any one-drop that requires removal is great, and I highly recommend putting several of these in white creature based decks.

Has anyone else noticed there is someone in front of her (underneath her arm)???? Looks kinda like a Llanowar elf...
