The new card that doesn't die, good flavor for sure, overpowered? I don't think so but I could be wrong

I'm imagining casting this with Minion Reflector and a sac outlet on the battlefield... sheer good fun!

You see what I did there?

Hey guys, remember my good friend sprouting thrinax, the guy who made 6/6 worth of creatures for 3 mana? I'm 12/12 worth of creatures for 5, and I'm monocolor instead of tricolor. Have fun!

Great flavor, and I've always loved the Sprouting Thrinax ability. This card looks great.

In soviet russia, Sprouting Thrinax is Mitotic Slime.

Obvious synergy with anything that doubles or makes more of this guy such as Doubling Season, etc.

I really like this guy, but he costs 5. This could really limit the impact of this dude. Easy casting cost is nice though.

"It's time to save us all...with science!" - Sarge

In all seriousness, this card is combo-tastic. Feed it to the machine with cards like Bloodthrone Vampire, giving those cards evasion, and you have some serious damage potential. Bloothrone Vampire alone can get +14/+14 from this guy. Not to mention Sarkhan the Mad after Sprouting Thrinax rotates out of Standard.

Splinter Twin, then sac the copy for fun and profit. If I remember correctly, tokens still hit the graveyard before they are exiled, correct?

1) Yes, tokens hit the graveyard before they stop existing. Token versions of Mitotic Slime will create the other tokens upon death. Splinter Twin might actually be decent now.

2) The flavor is awesome, he's like the bubbles in Bubble Trouble or something. And a flavorful ability that also happens to be awesome gameplay wise is always welcome.

3) I know what's replacing Cudgel Troll in my Wrath deck now.

Popped a foily one of these guys in my first pack at a pre-release draft.
Just had to build my deck around him =D

This was great for me in the pre-release sealed deck today. So much ooze everywhere once I cracked him open on a bloodthrone vampire then dropped a gravedigger to give me more slime for next turn! Loving it, great flavour great fun.

This is also really nice with Momentous Fall. Use it with Oran-Rief, the Vastwood. And obviously, Doubling Season.

I would think this would cost more money than it does, but then again I don't play much standard, so what do I know?

@ LTJZamboni - exiled cards get nowhere near the graveyard, not even close.

I love this card, I've recently been designing a Eldrazi Monument deck and this is just the cherry on top.

Loving this card so much, I only have one so far but it is working out so well in three different decks. In red its splinter twin target that is incredibly insane, filling the field with a slime army and giving them haste with cards like battle rampart, or using fling (in extended brion stoutarm for more hilarity, pitching slime balls at opponent). White has marshal's anthem and emeria the skyruin for pure insanity, and the slime survives wraths, all is dusts, and planar cleansing. Blue can rite of replication and clone it. In green you can pop it back to play for an extra two mana using nature's spiral, you can use leyline of vitality, mycoloth, and momentous fall. In black you can rise it from the grave, consume vapors your own slime to gain life, and add virulent swipe to the tokens.

You can slap basilisk collar on it and then switch the equipment back and forth between the tokens for death touching blockers pratically the rest of the game. It's great for control and it's great for creating many chump blockers. I'd say exiling was a problem, but is it really? Oblivion rings can be destroyed, and there's vines of vastwood and emerge unscathed in both green and white to back it up. It's also just a really easy way to spread out a lot of creatures for an overwhelming stampede. It's similarly great for stopping decks which want to do nothing but make you sacrifice creatures, like gatekeeper of malakir, and fleshbag marauder with grim discovery strategies.

Dang, I didn't know splinter twin would work for tokens until now. I might wind up splashing red...

I have three of these guys at this point but it was love at first sight when I saw him in the spoiler. He fits right into my "Seeping and Oozing" deck, filled with lots of token generators and cards that gain me life on arrival of additional creatures.

Just remember that Splinter Twin won't work if you don't destroy it yourself. Make it a blocker, yes, but being exiled gets around that kind of effect in all cases.

Sac the token to a Viscerating Seer, Momentous Fall or use it to block with (and die). Not quite the two-card combo everyone seems to be looking for.

Great card, especially in limited. It's one of the few cards that gets around Day of Judgment. It gets around most removal, save for Brittle Effigy and initial countering. It combos very well with Overwhelming Stampede if you end up getting all 4 1/1's out. And it's green, so it's quite possible to get it out on T3 or T4.

If you have the cards to support it, it should be a welcome addition to your draft or sealed pool. ^^

Great card. I pulled a foil one the day of the launch and it deeply saddens me that this card is not worth more.

I notice that none of those "Hey, tokens don't go to the graveyard" Whinners haven't said anything about this card. Hmmm, maybe they finally looked at the RULES!
More likely they are doing what I always think those people are doing. Keeping there mouth shut when it benifits them.

This is one of the few cards that you can play auras on guilt free. If they blast it preemptively, you have not lost card advantage.

Really love it ! Attach a Deathrender so when it dies (besides the 6/6 stat :O ) to spawn 2x(2/2)token plus a mighty beast with a minor cost of 2 like Quilled Slagwurm (10/10 with deathrender) and Token armor like Boar Umbra.
Result : Quilled Slagwurm (13/13)+Totem armor and 2x(2/2) Tokens with persist..
Total Cost : 5(summon)+4(deathrender)+2(equip)=11 cost devided in two turns.. pretty awsome i think !

How about running this guy with bloodthrone vampire to allow for a deadly 15 point fling. I just tied for first at an FNM tourny with a pretty obnoxious standard Jund deck running this guy with sarkhan the mad and pawn of ulamog, along with some hefty black and red removal. Good times!

Ashnod's Altar for a net +9 mana the turn you cast it, or 14 on other turns. This means if you have 6 green mana, an ashnod's out, and a gelatinous genesis in hand, you can:
-Cast mitotic slime
-sac it for the net 9 mana
-put out 4 4/4s with genesis

If it's the next turn you instead:
-get 14 mana
-put out 7 7/7's, or if you use the other mana you had out the turn before, 9 9/9's.

Needless to say while it's a rare occasion, when it happens it's astonishingly beautiful.

@TwistedSoul
Not sure what you're saying/implying. Tokens DO go to the graveyard but immediately cease to exist.

This card is so abusable with any type of persist or regen. Melira + Cauldron of souls + Sac Engine= Infinite 2/2 & 1/1 Ooze.

Now I do know that there are many better infinite creature combos, but cmon it's OOZE!!!!!

like a russian doll, you get 6 hidden creatures inside this one 4/4, for a total of 7 creatures, which can be lethal with any sac engine like nantuko husk.

Splinter Twin!

@Fallout90: I kind of took "sac outlet with Mitotic Slime" as given, but since you insist: Splinter Twin with a sac outlet!

Also, Grimgrin loves him some slime.
