Combo with Lich? Johnny/5

Without some sort of goofy combo, this is pretty bad. 7 mana so you can bring everyone down to you, but not kill them? And if you're ahead it's worse than useless?

Oh, it can most certainly be quite useful, especially combo'd with the Eldrazi (No surprise there). Simply let them hit on you a little bit until you get the mana for whatever Eldrazi you have available, since they are all suitably large. Cast the Eldrazi and then the next turn you use this and attack. If it gets through, it's likely game.

Plus, it punches a hole in the lifegain boat very fast, especially when they can use something like the Martyr of Sands to gain 21 life 2nd turn (Difficult but possible).

Granted, there are plenty of times that it is just plain useless, but that's no surprise. Every card has some point where it would be useless - Even Black Lotus (Even though those useless situations are very few and far between).

Should have costed less mana.
Given that you need at least two more cards (one to bring you down to about one life, and another one to send your opponent to death) to succeed, seven mana is quite much.
Aside from the fact that saccing you down to such a low life is already incredibly dangerous anyways since your opponent might have some burn or counter spells in hand. And if that's the case, you'll be either be hosed immediately or as soon as he/she starts the turn.

saved me in prerelease. can really turn the momentum of the fight. its funny to look accross the table and see someone who just went from 24 life down to three. if your playing with eldrazi token spawners its really not that bad of a mana cost. i would like to see how this could be used with death's shadow

This would be real fun card to play in a late game with an Everlasting Torment in play...

One of the strongest multiplayer cards when it comes to finishers, but requires dangerous combo.

Platinum Angel with your choice of protection. Bring yourself down to zero life as fast as possible, and cast this. Once Repay resolves successfully, almost guaranteed you will win, unless someone else has their own Platinum Angel out.

This seems to be in direct conflict with all of the vampire-themed black spells and effects that cause players to lose life and you to gain that much life. Blood Tribute, Bloodchief Ascension, and Bloodrite Invoker, just to name the B's.

Even Sorin Markov, who is referred to in the flavor text, has an ability that works in opposition to the strategy needed to make this card work.

It's definitely meant to be used in some sort of a combo-ish way. That said, it's pretty good in multiplayer, where it likely hurts you, but it probably hurts others a whole lot more.

Although its a pointless combo, I'll give major style points to anybody who uses this with Near-Death Experience

A very interesting card for a multiplayer suicide deck- Get to low life in exchange for a dominating board presence, then cast this card.

I could see myself using this in EDH, since I'm usually the biggest target on the field anyway.

Actually I think this might just work with immortal coil! I'm gonna make this GOOD! I promise you, this will become a combo! Remember I said this! When all the pro's are winning cuz ofthis combo! Just wait!

I love how this card is conveniently placed beside Pestilence demon.

Yeah, this is ridiculous, Black has so much life link thsese days, would fit better in red or soemthing. Might work well with kuro though, but even then, 7 mana is way too much for this, you can cast a plague wind for that much.

Play Wound Reflection then this, nice results.

Example. You are playing chaos. You are at 10 life, another player is at 30 life, and a third player is at 15 life.
Results in you still being at 15, the player who had 30 life loses 40 life and the game, and the player at 15 loses 10 life and is at five.

Also try Death's Shadow.

Not a very good card ordinarily but can be very fun, especially in large multiplayer games.

Great Anti-Archenemy card, if you can get the mana for it

Best thing about this card is Sorin giving you the finger in the art.

I was at a draft where one guy had a fully leveled Transcendent Master with an Ogre Cleaver and Lust for War on it go up against an Escaped Null with a Splinter Twin on it. The Escaped Null guy got the other guy from 114 to 1 (he forgot to attack with his Cadaver Imp).

I don't really even use this in combos.

Just build your deck as though you start the game with 10 life or something. As soon as you play it rushers played earlier lose alot of their value and the opponent likely comes into burn range. I use suffer the past usually or other lifegain + burn spells.

More than a combo piece, I see it as a lifegain hoser, and a really good one at that. It's common at Free For All games that someone goes over the double digit lifecount, this keeps the lifegain honest.

I rate it a 4, only because I like Magister Sphinx a lot more (since it is a win condition by itself)

Already have a good EDH story with this. I was antagonizing the most threatening player. Just daring him to hit me every turn. Boy was he sorry.

Of course; the "loose cannon" mono-red player got to get the surprise kill on everyone else, but that is the way with multiplayer.

This is a great card, but requires the right situation, including lots of mana; and somebody in a position to lose. The other card I like in these situations is the Magister Sphinx.

This isn't a subtle card. It should have maybe 1/4 page of people trying to figure out how to use it, and then 15 pages of combos that suddenly dawned on people. I'm adding this, Lich, and Form of the Dragon to my Kaalia of the Vast deck immediately.

Hive Mind. Play this while saying, "We shall think together!"
Play this when the lowest player's life total is 10 saying, "We shall bleed together!"
Then assuming the life stays that way during your next turn or if you have a crap load of mana play Hidetsugu's Second Rite and yell, "We shall go together!"

Best and most unlikely tie in the history of magic...but funny. :)

Sorin, meet Hidetsugu the Heartless. Hidetsugu, meet Sorin Markov. I'm sure you two will get along JUST fine, considering your shared hobby.

This card practically defines 'style points' magic. Once in a while Wizards makes a terribly uncompetitive card that enables a risky, difficult, overcosted win combo, because a few Johnny types like proving they can win with it.

Step 1) Cast moltensteel dragon.
Step 2) Pump moltensteel dragon.
Step 3) This.
Step 4) Attack with moltensteel dragon.

It doesn't need derpy combo to succeed. If you can survive your opponent's all-out attack unexpectedly, you just cast this and counterattack. There IS such a thing as a combat phase, guys.

I'm very fond of combining Wall of Blood and Fling in janky casual combo-ish decks, and the problem I notice most is that my opponents, not being idiots, try to get my life total down as low as they can before I can hit them with it. So I'm often at the lowest life after a few turns, which makes my blood-fling kind of underwhelming.

But with this, I can pull everyone down to my level! Whee hee hee!

The strongest card in the game in multiplayer "IF" you can keep yourself at 0. Repay in Kind + Lich = a table of grumbling.

Perfect for my mono-black suicide deck, drop any life eating creature a few Sign in Blood and Harrowing Journey and possibly Demon of Death's Gate for it's alternate cost, then this. Now smash face with that cute little 9/9 flyer with Trample
