they reprinted a Legacy-banned/Vintage-resticted card? although it's only within a duel-set, that really surprises me.

From what I can see under the "Sets & Legality" tab this card is legal and not restricted in vintage.

This cards is in fact restricted. Blame Fastbond.

Yeah, this card is broken. Draw two cards for free? FOR FREE??

This card should not been banned. Without Fastbond the fact that you have to return lands to your hand for a so called free cost is a rather large disadvantage.

The card on it's own is very good, but combo is the reason this is banned and restricted. Stasis and High Tide abuses this. As said before, fastbond too. Unrestricting fastbond OR gush would lead to absolutely broken decks in vintage.

So much fun in my casual BlueGreen deck with Lorescale Coatl, Explore, and tons of landfall stuff.

once upon a time,, gush,exploration,horn of greed, Gaea's Blessing, time warp, endless turns, i dont know, Magic was simpler..just a little bit of nostalgic about a card with a lot of tournament history.

When used correctly, this card can do horrifying things. Outside of the aforementioned Fastbond combos and synergies with landfall, one of the best uses for this card is in decks using Stasis. Using Gush, you can return your permanently tapped Islands to your hand, draw two new cards, and then over the next two turns lay them both down again, partially counteracting the downside of Stasis shutting down your mana base (Daze, Thwart, and particularly Ensnare also combo with Stasis like this exceptionally well).

This card also works very well with Foil, allowing you to bounce two Islands to your hand, draw two cards, discard two cards (probably those Islands you bounced), and counter target spell. In brief, that's:

Sacrifice two Islands: Counter target spell and draw two cards.

This is banned in Legacy and restricted in Vintage for good reason. 5/5

@Discoduck

wait, you are using a banned/restricted card in a CASUAL deck? I dont think this quite fits into casual...

@Havens:

Casual means "non legal for sanctioned tournaments". Casual is where you can play all your banned stuff, otherwise, what the hell would you do with it?

Plus who said casual decks are bad? s:\

Free card draw -- what could go wrong?

It might pale in comparison to other suggestions, but Overbeing of Myth gets +4/+4 at no mana expenditure from this.

@LeoKula: No, casual means a deck that is toned down and would not perform well in a tournament, but it has some cards which are often more fun.

Interesting interaction if you have Righteous Authority enchanted on a creature you control. Casting this will fill up your hand with four cards if this is the only card in your hand, thus serving as a sort of giant growth for 0. See also Sturmgeist. Other than that, it's really quite fantastic, with or without landfall.

Combine with Brainstorm and terramorphic expanse to draw 5 for {U} and 2 cards for under $10 in casual.

Combine with Psychatog to swing with a 7/8 without any other cards.
Free castings also work well with manaplasm.

Even outside of combo, this is a wonderful mana smoother. Mana-screwed on 2 Islands? Gush, use the land-drop you were going to have to skip, and you've gpt closer to Island 3. Mana-flooded? Lots of islands to burn!

As with all the Spikiest cards, if not played to win, it's just quietly making your unplayable deck playable. It is the Silent Hero of the casual decks.

What were they thinking when they unrestricted Regrowth? They certainly weren't thinking that people would combine it with this.

Awful lot of Spikes in here trying to define casual...

It has nothing to do with subpar decks or banned cards, though it's closer to that last one. Casual is about freedom. They printed it? Go ahead and use it if you want to waste your money into a prizeless format. You want to proxy a Charizard for a Furyborn Hellkite? Go ahead. You misread the board and wasted a removal spell on something I could obviously protect with available knowledge? Go ahead, take it back.

So it's partially an interactive experience as to why tournaments ban certain cards, along with a way for them to still see play and many other things. No banlists and games long enough for your janky combo to work.

Yes, there are casual groups that use banlists. No, they are not fun people to play with. They are the kind of players that don't want to put over $50 of cards into a deck, and they will scream unfair if you actually dedicate a little more money into the game than they did.
