Amazing card. When compared to Exhume, it's better against another reanimator deck or in a situation where you really need the +1/+1, like when you're playing a burn deck or have a few Pestilences in your own deck. When it comes to reanimating creatures that you want due to their abilities, like Reya, Dawnbringer, Iona, Shield of Emeria or Blazing Archon, then having them tapped isn't a problem.
The most unique part of this card is its type; it's a permanent enchantment. Its type is its biggest advantage and disadvantage; any enchantment removal can kill it and the creature it's on, but it also interacts with hundreds of cards that effect permanents and enchantments. The ability to tutor this out with a Zur, the Enchanter or make it recur with Sun Titan makes it very unique in the game and a star in a deck built around it.

@Begel0ne: Yeah, but those cards will just lose in the long-haul to most control decks or potentially get outpaced by rapid combo decks. Any experienced and knowledgeable control deck player will have at least one or two readily accessible mass creature card sweeps if they don't have minor ones. That's why I feel strongly that if you are going to make a Reanimator deck, you should gear it around crippling the enemy asap with cards like Hellcarver Demon or Nicol Bolas. There are cards like Entomb, Putrid Imp, Raven's Crime, etc. that can drop these and cards like Anger, for example, into your GY early, so, with a little mana acceleration, you can use both hasted GY res and non hasted GY res to devastate your enemy fast.

"As CARDNAME enters the battlefield, return target creature card from a graveyard to the battlefield under your control tapped and attach Dance of the Dead to it. When Dance of the Dead leaves the battlefield, that creature's controller sacrifices it."
There, Wizards. I just made your card not stupid.

HOW THE HELL could I have overlooked this card for so long? For those of us without the money for some of the essential reanimator cards out there like Entomb... Buried Alive and something like this is a very reasonable alternative.
I'm currently using two Reanimate with four Exhume as my main Reanimation spell. Works okay, but losing 7 or 8 life to Reanimate a single creature into play can be a very big risk, especially while trying to pump a couple Divinity of Pride (as such in my case). Take a look at Rise From the Grave, and you'll see that you just can't argue with a simple cost of to bring a creature from ANY graveyard into play, even with the cumulative upkeep to untap him. (WOW Wizards, just WOW) Lastly, look at that art. It's to die for.
This option looks like it will work much, much better for any player with a strategy, and budget like me. Hope this gets the reprint it deserves.
GREAT card 5/5

Combo out on opponents with this and Goblin Dirigible. They'll never see it coming.

This kind of templating nuttiness is why reanimation is mostly a sorcery thing now.

This, as compared to Animate Dead, defines Ice Age for me: needlessly complicated, but quirkily entertaining.
augh. That Oracle text is way more confusing than it needs to be.

@ROBRAM89: Yes, but what typeline would you give it? If you make it an aura, then what enchant ability do you give it? And if you don't make it an aura, then you can't attach it to anything.

Cool card, but I still would run Animate Dead over it. Also, I'll never go dancing no more till I dance with the dead. Iron Maiden.

This, animate dead and Exhume. Making modern reanimator look like crap since 1993

I want this to be reprinted. With all the somewhat pointless errata, I don't think it would all fit in the text box and they'd have to go all Jace, the Mind Sculptor.

One of my favorite black cards to get around my opponents Stasis game lock so I can attack with creature I steal from their graveyard like Serra Angel, from revised when Ice Age was new. Also good was to bring back Juggernaut and make safe from lightning bolt.

This card is secretly on the reserved list, because unfortunately printing technology has not yet developed to the point where wizards can fit this card's oracle text in the box. Buy now before everyone finds out!
