Poor little Ig... forgotten and lost to the mists of time.

use it on cards with defender, now that the wall type no longer exists

The wall type still exists, and they all have defender. What are really missing out are any non-wall creatures that also have defender. Before, the only creatures that could never attack were walls, and they're the exception to a lot of effects. Defender alone doesn't save a creature from being destroyed by this or many other effects.

This + Jace's Erasure + pretty much anything that lets you draw and discard a lot (e.g. Cephalid Broker or Enclave Cryptologist) is a great way to draw a ton of cards while simultaneously milling your opponent.
If you happen to have a few Icy Manipulators in your deck, you can even use this guy to murder creatures when you don't need to draw any extra cards.

you don't play him because he's good. You play him because he looks awesome.

you know, I've been wanting to use this creature forever, I have him but he never fits in my decks.... very soon all that will change!
and yes the reason I wanted to use him is because he looks awesome!

There is thematic reason why defender alone wont save the creature.
There is a conceptual difference between walls and non-wall defenders. Walls are rooted (even flying ones as you cannot walk under) constructs or plants, which need magic to get moving. Non-wall defenders on the other hand are homeguard who are instructed not to attack. If they are tempted they can and should attack.
Based on this WoTC should check all defenders and reclassify them. For example Glint Hawk Idol should be errated as 'count as a wall' because it's clearly seen that a Dwarven Demolition Team could sneak on it and blow it and that Norritt couldn't tempt it.

Oh man, I did a double-take when I saw the art. I thought that he was giving the middle finger.
Shame, too. That would have been a perfect explanation for how he taunts creatures into attacking.

I always thought he was wearing glasses... I imagined him to be some kind of demonic librarian...
Expensive and fragile, but pretty powerful abilities. With a bit of pimping, he can probably drive infinite combos...
Add Pandemonium-style cards. Voila, infinte damage. Klunky, I know...

Played this the other day in my commander deck with Gwendlyn Di Corci as my general and it was so awesome. He's like a Nettling Imp, plus he can untap gwendlyn for extra random discard or whatever else. Solid 4/5 for the two abilities.

My first combo was this guy and Sengir Vampire, but as I only had about 2 of each and my deck was around 250 cards it didn't see much play

Can anyone tell me if this card can force a creature with defender but explicitely NOT a wall (e.g. Thallid Shell-Dweller) to attack?
I know every wall automatically has defender, but defenders are not automatically walls and it's also valid to use the imp's ability on other creatures (who are not a wall) that you know are unable to attack, like tapped creatures. Anyone that can verify this?

Loads of fun in a WBU deck with Merieke Ri Berit, Flood, Festival+Siren's Call--you can make an entire deck around pinning your opponent's creatures, making them turn on their masters or shoot themselves in the head.
Ah, the good old days. Norritt almost singlehandedly redeemed Ice Age for me.

For even greater effect, add a dash of Elixir of Immortality.

*thinks*
Use Sleight of Mind to change him into untapping red or black creatures. Then use Splinter Twin (on himself) or Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. The hasty token then untaps Norritt/Kiki-Jiki.
