Normally the ability to remove -1/-1 counters would require a cost in itself (e.g. Chainbreaker), but Quillspike does that and ma^ssively pumps itself at the same time for one mana. This card is sick, I tell you!

Quillspike would make an amazing pet, think about it. It looks like a porcupine on steroids, it heals you when you're sick, and it can potentially grow large enough to eat your neighbors.

SavageBrain89, just no. Just no. I would get nightmares having this thing around the house.

@Jokergius, if you mean to use the mana created from Devoted Druid to play the Apocalypse Hydra, that won't work. All the mana produced becomes consumed by Quillspike's ability.
I really like this card's 2 card infinite damage combo. Easy to pull off, and even better when Quillbolt has flying or trample somehow.
Give old Quilley here a Phyresis, and the two become a frightening duo.

The card's alright, but i wish it was cheaper or be more powerful since it needs at least one other card to be efficient: By itself it's just a tiny 1/1 for three mana. The loop with Devoted Druid for infinite P/T is quite impressive, though. Downside is that you have to wait until you can either attack with Quillspike or activate the drud's ability, which gives your opponent a turn to react with removal even if he doesn't have any chump blockers. On top of that both are 1/1 that can be pinged to death with about anything.
Although Melira, Sylvok Outcast is more advisable for a persist deck (or Heartmender in block-construced), the quillspike can serve just nicely for curing your creatures as well.
Fun Fact: If you want Quillspike to get a Power Level that's worthy a Spartan, activate his ability 300 times to make it 9001/9001.
I was introduced into MTG, along with most of my playgroup, right before Shards block. This + Devoted Druid was our first infinite combo. Life-changing realizations ftw.

@ Gelzo: Ummm, you realize it's only a 1/1, right? It would just die the upkeep after you enchanted it.

This is a nasty card. It treats -1/-1 counters as a helpful addition to the board. It turns Scarscale Ritual into, "1 b/u, creature you control gets +3/+3 until end of turn, draw two cards." Yes please.

Devoted Druid would be great with this card, OR have Omnath, Locus of Mana!! d^-^b
EDIT: Wow, I was a n00b back when I commented on this. As mentioned, This + Devoted Druid +Floursihing Defenses is just crazy!!

I have a friend that uses the Devoted Druid combo, and it was her downfall. I ended up Grisly Spectacleing it, and she milled everything. It felt awesome to do that.

I played a Wacky Draft recently, in which everyone buys three packs from whatever set the store had available, then they get first pick on those packs in draft. It was an amazing experience. Eventide was the group's favorite set.
I played a Draft deck with Quillspike and Carnifex Demon.
:-) :-) :-)
My deck was a little too wacky. I had so few sources of -1/-1 counters that I probably should've sided out Quillspike, but I couldn't bear to. Quillspike managed to smash face with help from Hotheaded Giant several times.

Who doesn't love a two card in block combo featuring a common two drop and an uncommon three drop for an auto win? Me, and everyone who enjoys a nice game of Magic. It's an Infinite/Infinite for three mana. Design fail.
