Any time anyone ever suggests that there are no good creature enchantments, staple a Rancor to their forehead.

Easily one of the best commons ever printed. To this day, I run 4 of them in every aggro green deck I make, format permitting.

Rancor is, and most likely will remain, my favorite Enchant Creature. Inexpensive, effective, no tribal-attunements (ew), and it keeps coming back. Like an equipment, but far less lame.

I run a Black/Green deck that has a copy each of Mossbridge Troll and Doomgape. I have all sorts of plans involving the two, but it kinda gets defused by the fact that Mossbridge Troll doesn't have trample. I want this card. Because then it would.

By far one of the best creature enchantments. Works well on everything from a 1/1 to a 10/10 and more!!! Sadly, i dont see it ever being remade, or if it is remade, it will have to be at least Rare.

Holy crap I love this card. I used to have a few, but they've been lost throughout the years. Still one of my favorite cards and reminds me why I love green so much.

Top 5 Enchantment-Aura (enchant creature) cards:
1. (4.880) Rancor+2/+0 trample that returns from the graveyard 2. (4.845) Treacherysteal creature, untap your lands 3. (4.729) Armadillo Cloak+2/+2, trample, gain life 4. (4.562) Faith's Fetterspacifism that can control permanents and 4 life bonus 5. (4.417) Pillory of the Sleeplesspacifism that drains opponent's life
Rancor is on this list because it is resistant to creature removal. Regular creature enchantments tend to give your opponent a 2 to 1 card advantage when the creature takes the enchantment with it to the grave. Rancor tends to ignore this problem (just recast it) and forces your opponent to be more creative when it comes to dealing with Rancor.
For mana curve purposes, at 1 mana this enchantment is brutally fast. Also, you don't tend to mind losing your early cheap creatures in combat because you will just be able to recast Rancor on a better creature.

I don't so much hate the enchantment. I just hate all the people who obsess over it.
... and as amazing as that is, it will promptly get hit with Path to Exile as soon as it hits the board! Should not be a problem since the Rancor will return to your hand and hopefully your deck has multile copies of the Depths+Hexmage insanity.

@Pantheon A better perfect draw: Urborg, Dark Depths, Hexmage, Elvish Spirit Guide, Rancor, Explore, Dark Ritual, with another Spirit Guide on top of the library. You can have a 22/20 indestructible flying trampler READY TO ATTACK on turn 2!
Or just do it like a champ: Black Lotus, Depths, Hexmage, Mox Emerald, Rancor, Mox Ruby, Burst of Speed.
Gotta love Rancor!

Best creature aura ever hands down. Problem is that in Urza Block it's not anywhere near as good, in THIS SET there is Erase which effectively removes this. 4.5/5

I remember right before I quit Magic for the first time (blame Combo Winter) seeing someone with a whole binder of just this one card. It was a 3-inch thick binder, filled with those 9 sleeve card holders, and all of them were filled with Rancors.
It wasn't until much later when I actually played with this card before I realized just how good this card was to drive a person to collect them in such a way.

There is a reason I have not dismantled the Unearth deck I've used since Urza's block to this day. This deck, stocked with creatures like Phyrexian Ghoul, Multani's Acolyte, Yavimaya Granger, Yavimaya Elder (holy card advantage Batman!) and Bone Shredder, gets a way to force through some extra damage via extra power and trample. Echo creatures die on their own, or sacrificed to Ghouls, and you don't have to be afraid of "wasting" Rancor on your goons to make them better blockers before they die on their own, and you get it back. Even the lowly Bone Shredder, a 1/1, becomes a threat this stapled onto him.

I like those guys making combos with Marit Lage and whatsoever, which has no relevance to Rancor. Just put it in a green deck and win. It's as simple as that.
