Would this stop an equipment from using its equip ability? meaning would it make the equipment not able to be eqiuped to a creature?

If i understand activated abilities it would, but it wouldnt help if it is attached already.
Anyways, one of the best pacifisms ever, and with a great new art!

To answer the equip-ability: If you play this on an equipment, all activated abilities that equipment has (like the equip ability itself) can't be played anymore. The equipment doesn't fall off though, and all static and triggered abilities work normally.

Would this card stop a Planeswalker from using his/her abilities?

@Daserack I think that it would stop a Plainswalker. The activation cost of a Planeswalker is loyalty counters, right? Just like charge counters or +1/+1 counters are activation costs.

any other ways to stop a walker? Destroy target permanent? 10+ damage to target player?

Target player affects don't target planeswalkers, but Vindicate works amazingly well... for anything.

@ Lucky Monkey, I'm pretty sure if you have a spell that says "Deal X damage to target player", you can use it on either them or their plainswalkers. I'm almost certain that's the case, since the plainswalker functions as an shield for the player.
Faith's Fetters is a great shutdown card with a nice life bonus. A great card to run with Flickerwisp to bounce it onto new, higher priority targets, and gain an extra four life. Would be fun to figure out a combo where you can drop copies of these in play on all your opponents' permanents... wonder if there's a way....?

The gaining life is just icing on the cake... the ability alone is just good enough.. not only it stop creatures unlike other pacifism variants, it also stop planeswalkers. stops artifacts mostly equipments, and stops enchantments that have activated abilities.

Stops Planeswalkers and gains you life. I swear my jaw dropped when I realized this. Before the Planeswalkers were printed, I used to think of this as an overly expensive Pacifism. I guess not all powercreep is bad, huh? This time it actually turned a "meh" card into a "wow" card, at least for me.

I actually have been using this with Venser, the Sojourner, and it works freakin good! i replaced 2 of 4 Oblivion Rings with this card to try it out with Venser and it works great, even when you don't have anything new to bounce it onto because you still gain the 4 life. At worst it turns Venser's +1 into "Gain 4 life". Not bad, just look at Ajani. And without Venser it's still amazing. 5/5

@scumbling1: Yeah, it would, since the plainswalker wouldn't be able to attack or block.

It stops every planeswalker but Koth... who has a mana ability!
Though for that purpose, Oblivion Ring is probably a better card. This card is better against aggro because of the 4 life.

"Loyalty abilities can't be mana abilities. Koth's second ability uses the stack and can be countered or otherwise responded to. Like all loyalty abilities, it can be activated only once per turn, during your main phase, when the stack is empty, and only if no other loyalty abilities of this permanent have been activated this turn."

Near-Functional Reprint in Innistrad. I'm not sure how I feel about it...
I like both cards a lot. This one stops Planeswalkers and Artifacts, but the other one is a full mana cheaper, which is plenty relevant.

What the heck card are you talking about? I can't find a single near-functional reprint of this at 3 mana, or 4 mana, or anything resembling it in Innistrad or any other set. Your sentence fragments don't help either.

Fantastic synergy with Venser, the Sojourner. If a more threatening permanent hits play, you can just exile it and attach it to the new permanent...and get 4 life for doing it.

actually the worst case scenario you can enchant one of your own lands if your opponent has a suspended rift bolt and no lands in play or something.
But seriously, deals with just about anything, besides static artifacts and enchantments. The cost is a little sad, but most of the time getting to 4 isn't a problem, and this is one of the most versatile removal spells out there.
