Nantuko Husk has the same ability, why isn't this one above rating of 4?

Because Nantuko Husk has an additional creature type so it's automatically better.

I for one have never rated Nantuko Husk, but now I will. I rated this a 3, so what will I rate that?

(Time goes by)

A 3.5. I didn't like the art as much as this one.

"Nantuko Husk has the same ability, why isn't this one above rating of 4?"

Not all people who have rated Phyrexian Ghoul have also rated Nantuko Husk, and vice versa.

Because Zombie Insect" is a far cooler type line than simply "Ghoul". Or "Vampire", for that matter. (I'm looking at you, Mr. Vampire Aristocrat)

Basically the same as Nantuko Husk without the insect tribal.

Unless for some reason you really need the Insect tribal or hate cards with Phyrexian in them...

The original and my favorite. Phyrexians are just awesome!

Vampire Aristocrat is good.
This is better (Zombie>>Vampire)
Nantuko Husk is better still (barely. Insect is normally a bonus. Ican't think of any specifically anti-insect cards. There probably are some. Mabye a Gbolin Bugcrusher or somethig...)

Good ability, great tribe, good p/t and cost.
Easy 4/5

Also, good FT. Very Phyrexia.

Believe it or not, this guy can actually be part of an infinite damage combo.

Simply pair him up with Rooftop Storm and a Gravecrawler .

Cast Phyrexian Ghoul first (so your opponent will not know what you are up to, and believe you are merely playing a chump blocker). The ghoul will have summoning sickness, so coyly wait until your next turn to proceed further with the combo.

Now on your next turn, play Rooftop Storm. All zombie creature spells are now free to cast. Play Gravecrawler, then use Phyrexian Ghoul's ability to sacrifice Gravecrawler and get a +2/+2 counter. Since Rooftop Storm is in play, you don't have to pay the mana to return Gravecrawler from the graveyard to the battlefield, so go ahead and do it. The Gravecrawler can now be sacrificed AGAIN, to power up Phyrexian Ghoul further!

Keep rinsing and repeating, until you have a vastly powered Phyrexian Ghoul with more then enough damage to dispatch your opponent. Cast Artful Dodge and swing for the win.

Technically, the only difference between this card and Nantuko Husk is their creature types. From a player's perspective, though, Nantuko Husk will always have the better reputation because it was a staple in it's standard season. Phyrexian Ghoul just doesn't have the level of exposure that Nantuko Husk once had.

Most decks would rather go for a lower-costed card to fulfill this purpose (such as Bloodthrone Vampire. Usually the point isn't to make a huge creature, but to get the abilities that trigger when creatures die or get put into the graveyard.
