IMO, this card sucks. Overrun is strictly better.

I wouldn't say it sucks too much, it has Convoke, so potentially this card can be play faster than Overrun.

Very bad convoke card, since you dont want you creatures to get tapped while they get +3/+3. And no trample...

Rocks in Token Decks.

Strictly means there's no circumstance that could happen in which it's not better. With convoke and cheap token creation cards you can easily cast this earlier or with more creatures. While theres more to like on overrun this is by all means a go-to card for a token deck by comparison.

Also, it works excellently with mobilize or vitalize. With 2 green mana and 6 saprolings you could cast Overwhelm and then attack with all 6 saps. You could do something else with the 3 mana you saved over overrun, like use life//death. A combo like that wins the game at a mere 3 mana.

1 green, 6 saps- cast overwhelm
use life (life//death)
mobilze (untapping the saps and your lands)

Attack with a minimum 9 4/4 creatures for 3 mana

Good whenever you can afford to tap creatures and still stomp but don't have 5 mana: i.e., ultra fast token decks. In which case trample is no big deal anyway. It's not for making your handful of big beasties even bigger, then you try something else, probably overwhelming stampede not overrun. The gap in between where you use overrun is becoming pretty small. I made 2 decks where I settled on overwhelm and overwhelming stampede as the best choices but nothing with overrun yet. Nothing like tapping out for rhys the redeemed or playing an avenger of zendikar or mercy killing or whatever huge token generator you have and then tapping your new creatures in the very same turn for an overwhelm.

Man, this is so antisynergistic with itself. Who on earth designed this? If it were an instant it'd be interesting; at least then you could declare your blockers and then cast it.

There are other uses for +3/+3 than attacking luckily. Could make for a hilarious Soulblast deck. Note however that despite Soulblast's instant speed this one is a sorcery.

Tap all of your creatures to convoke this, then Vitalize.

Problem solved.

Ugh, completely antisynergistic with itself, unless you somehow spawned an infinite amount of tokens (and, this being Selesnya, I guess that was their point). Even then, you're better off with the many other stampede effects that Green excels in: Overrun, Overwhelming Stampede, Triumph of the Hordes, Craterhoof Behemoth, just to name a few.

Let's do some freaken math here.
Let's say at the very least you have 4 untapped forests. To play this you would need 3 creatures. But once you do your creatures are all tapped. Oh great... so i need 4 creatures to make this work... but that would only mean it's an overcosted giant growth... fail...
Now let's say you have 5 untapped mana. You only need 2 creatures but to balance things out just like the previous example, you have 4 creatures. BUT WAIT. Isn't overrun 5 mana too? Plus i can attack with those 4 creatures too! another fail...
Any more examples with more than 4 mana is a fail because you're either losing 1-2 creatures to attack or are overpaying a lesser effect card (the +3/+3 BUT no trample) while you've could've just played overrun and have 1 to 2 extra creatures to attack with PLUS trample.

So overall this card is best used with a deck that uses 4 mana or less and can get lots of tokens by the time you get 4 mana. Otherwise it's a piece of Overwhelming crap.

I can understand it being usable in block draft but seriously? No trample?

My fix? "Untap up to two creatures that were tapped to pay the convoke cost of this card"

First use Life and Limb to turn all your lands into creatures to help pay the convo- waaait..

For a card called Overwhelm, this is pretty underwhelming.

Oh man, I didn't realize it was a sorcery instead of an instant. Yikes.
