It actually has really nice synergy with Lich's Mirror. If you can do it for fatal on yourself, there's a fairly good chance that you will tear up the opponent(s), making the reset not as problematic. If you can get it off for even just 4, you take a chunk out of their hand/life/field, and give yourself a larger chance of survival.

I have a quick ruling question for anyone glancing here. If your opponent is reduced to 0 life, do you automatically win, as in does it interrupt a spell that does multiple things. Like say you'd be at 0 or less life as well, and be forced to Sac a Platinum Angel by the subsequent effect. Just a question.

Penultimate, once Platinum Angel leaves play, you lose at the same time your opponent does. Life loss happens at the same time and before life gain, so if you can gain more life than your opponent and then cast Death Cloud for enough to kill off the opponent, your set.
But, remember that all the things stated in this card happen in order; so Life loss happens 1st (all players at the same time) then discarding (all players at the same time) then creatures and lands (all players at the same time) So, in theory, if you can keep Platinum Angel in play without any responses from your opponent before he/she loses x life (like, "In response to you casting Death Cloud, I'll kill your Platinum Angel"

Losing the game is a statebased effect, which is not checked during resolution, only when a player would gain priority. So, no, the platinum angel will not save you unless you can make it survive the cloud.

It hurts so bad when it resolves XS Great for building around, though.
Penultimate's suggestion indeed would work! If the game is down to two players, and Penultimate plays this spell which causes his opponent's life to reach zero... it doesn't matter what else the spell requires to happen. Once his/her life reached zero, that opponent loses the game no matter what else is required. The spell's requirements state loss of life BEFORE a Platinum Angel would have to be sacrificed not the other way around. Yes, it does matter.
For example. Take Vampiric Link or Spirit Link. If either is attached to an opponent's creature who deals damage to you, it also causes you to gain that much life... if that creature, however, dealt enough damage to you cause your life to reach 0, you would lose the game immediately and not be able to gain that much life (as it would have also been required.)

@ izzet_guild_mage Rule change. When ever a creature has lifelink A.k.A. Vampiric Link That creatures controller would gain that life.
Also damage happens at the same time, so lifelink would go off first I think if you block a creature and have lifelink on it before you take lethal. IE: Wumcoil Engine blocks one of two goblins they are both 2/2 since blocks happen before damage is dealt to players you would gain the 6 before you would lose the 2. Really important when your the guy on 2 life.

I like how it conveniently doesn't mention enchantments. This could be a nice finisher in a Bloodchief Ascension deck. Just thinking about how many triggers this would cause makes my mouth water.

How about, Hive Mind and Tajuru Preserver? Keep in mind that you won't have to sac stuff until your copy goes off, and it will go off last.

This card is seriously Giga Pox. That card was really hard to play in its time, but Death Cloud is spectacular in EDH nowadays.
magic R@D ideas for this card first developer "lets give black an apocalypse and damnation in one card." second developer "isn't that overpowered?" FD " okay lets also give them bonds of agony and mind shatter." SD "um okay."

If this card works such as pox then I'm fairly certain the platinum angel would save you. Pox allows for discarding a creature which is then put on to The battlefield to count towards the number of creatures to sacrifice. The effects of the card do happen one at a time and if this killed your opponent before the discard and before the sacrifice then the game would end when your opponent's life became 0, before you discard, before you sacrifice ending the sequence of events with a game win.
Absolutely BEST artwork so far! I'm beeing serious!

Difficult to use. You want to be in a position to properly own others when all is said and done and to do so you'll need to have stuff that recurs from the graveyard or be in a stronger position *in some way* than your opponents.
So: -if you have more creatures, make everyone sac creatures until you have the maximum you can have left on an empty battlefield -if you have several more lands, reset the board except for some of your lands -if you have several more cards, reset the board enough so you retain card advantage
Coolest things have been mentioned already; it doesn't effect enchants or artifacts, you can utilize this to set up a board position that relies on these other permanents for mana, for destroying creatures, for animating, or what have you; then nuke everything else.
