Turning a guy into a Prodigal Sorcerer and drawing a card is pretty gross...nice enchantment for the cost.

An excellent card for a "Pinball"-style deck.

combined with Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind meens very mean combo. tap 2 creatures, deal 3 damage and draw 2 cards. of corse, there are beter combose with niv, Curiosity anyone?
I always thought they should base an equipment on this card.
Name Quicksilver Staff cost whenever equipped creature attacks Draw a card. Whenever equipped creature becomes tapped deal one damage to target player. equip 2
hmmm maybe a little too powerful for an equipment
@OpenSeasonNoobs: interesting, Quicksilver dagger Pros: One card with two effects cons color intensive cost,
Curiosity and Psionic Gift Pros, works with combat damage, can choose to ping a creature, less color intensive cons, two different cards, however you can choose to split them up so not necessarily a con.
first i was thinking this is way better than Curiosity and Psionic Gift, then when I thought about it your probly right, that would be better...

Horseshoe Crab + this card in Pauper format is crazy. I run that combo and Tidewater Minion + Freed From the Reel + Izzet Boilerworks + Burn spell in a / pauper deck, and it rocks. The dagger + crab helps you draw into the cards you need to go infinite extremely fast.

Couldn't you play this on opponent's creatures as well? Tap a baddy before it blocks or attacks. Kinda reminds me of finding out you can play Spirit Link on opponent's creatures ;P

@sygilber: Well, you could play this on an opponent's creature, but it doesn't benefit you. Spirit link has an ability that gives "you" life, whereas Quicksilver Dagger grants the creature an ability that states that "you" draw a card. On Spirit Link, the you refers to the controller of Spirit Link, since the ability is on Spirit Link and not the creature. Here, since the ability is being granted to the creature, only that creature's controller can activate it and when they do, they draw a card.
The only auras that have their own tap abilities (that don't say "Enchanted creature has...") are in Future Sight (see Flowstone Embrace), and those presumably haven't been expanded on because it is potentially confusing. The aura that you are looking for, that you can use to tap opponent's creatures, is Second Wind from that set.

Niv-Mizzet + Curiosity + Quicksilver Dagger
"Why did you cast Quicksilver Dagger?"
Niv-Mizzet: "Why EVER should I NOT?!" :D

Great card, gets around the aura drawback by replacing itself, and then adding to your card advantage a few turns later.
One of my favorite cards of all time. It was only a minor threat in the Invasion block but it wins me games a lot nowdays. Slap it on a Crackleburr and run other pingers like Razorfin Hunter and Gelectrode for lots of repeatable damage, bounce, and card draw.

If I ever need to break a beer bottle or barstool over someone's head in a brawl and then get asked by the cops what the hell I was doing, I'm going to say "improvisational weaponsmithing."

Could make a passable combo with Akki Lavarunner.
Combos with Mind Over Matter.
