This is Heartless Summoning's best friend. I mean, this on turn 4 in a zombie deck is just insane! I love this!

One the Titans rotate I think this dude is gonna crush some minds. Heartless Summoning is another wonderful way to play him.

@RAV0004 This HAS to be rare - this guy is a complete bomb in limited. Pulled him in the prerelease last night, and he was routinely graced with a 'wait, he does what?' when he hit the table...and then again when he came back. Not just good, but... satisfying. A very satisfying card to tap out for.
I'm not sure he has a great deal of constructed potential, but who knows what the world will look like post-titan; I'll say this, though, he has one of the most charming Dismember protections I've seen yet.

I managed to pull him and a Cackling Counterpart at the prerelease today. Holy moly, this guy is a bomb if there ever was one. A 5/5 with Undying is CRAZY, let alone one with a potent ETB trigger that helped almost mill my opponent out.

This guy eats drafts. Back him up with some mill, and he eats fully 1/4th of your opponent's deck single-handedly.

Its the Thing gone to the dark side... Are we going to get a Geralf's Psychocrusher next set?
Whenever my friends and I play Standard casual, I run a blue/green Splinterfright. When Dark Ascension was released, I made room in the deck to add two creatures from the new set. I'd narrowed it down to either two Ghoultrees or two of this guy. In the end I went with this guy, mostly because he just looked more interesting. And boy was I surprised with how well he did. I know he's expensive to cast, and so I would never run more than two in this kind of deck. But you drop this late game, and that's pretty much it. He builds up your Splinterfrights, Kessig Cagebreakers, and Bonehoards in a big way and puts a big body on the field as well. After playing close to 20 games yesterday, this guy's got my vote.

A game ender in Limited and even playable in Standard without the Titans (and assuming something equally silly does not come around in 2013.)

I'm still not used to blue being this beefy. But then again... There is fun that needs to be had.

This guy is a house. Very Under-rated. Play him shortly after you drop Undead Alchemist and watch your Zombie Army grow and watch your opponent squirm. It will be end of game shortly thereafter.

super-boss limited card but how would you ever use him in constructed?

Stepping outside of standard, if you flash him into play, you can get a 6/6 for CMC 2 as well as an instant-speed 10 card mill.

Who is Geralf? He has a Mindcrusher and a Messenger, but why doesn't he have a card of his own?

Back before DKA was released, me and a group of friends ran a D&D game set on Innistrad. During one adventure, we stormed Geralf's lab and were faced with a large zombie brute. Our assassin quickly ran up to it with some lucky crits was able to dispose of the monster before it was able to take a turn. Just as he was about to move on to the rest of the enemies, the zombie stood up and it one hit literary bashed the unlucky assassin into the floor. Every time i look at that card i am reminded of this.

Combos with Altar of Dementia and Sheoldred, Once a turn, sheoldred pulls mindcrusher back to mil 5, sac it to the alter to make them mill 5, undying triggers, they mill 5, sac it to the alter to mill 6, 21 cards in a single turn using that alone, combo it with Glimpse the unthinkable or Traumatize or Hedron Crab to win even faster

@Ali-Baba That's a pretty big step out of standard. I also think that's a rather weak combo. It's not bad, that's for sure, but you could do WAAAAAAY more with flash.
You can literally win the game if you flash in a protean hulk. Since you can do that, there is no point in doing it with this guy. Why make a decent move when you could just win?

"Fine! I'll Dismember him again!"
