Decent. I suppose you will play this mostly in an aggro deck, and in aggro decks, life ain't that relevant. But it's ok.

At 3/3 this centaur is a force to be reckoned with, but also gaining 3 life? That is music to this pro's ears.

I'm excited about this card. I know I shouldn't be, but I am. It's a 3/3 for 3-mana that grants 3 life. I'm hopeful that it will be able to find itself a home inside a Pauper deck.. even if I am unsure what deck would want it just yet.

It's amazing how much better than little bit of life makes this over Nessian Courser.

A huge speedbump for any aggro (Rakdos) deck. A reasonable size body and life gain is the last thing they want to see.

This will be a beast in Limited, for sure.

This is great! Especially for common. As it has been said, it's effective against aggro since it slows them down quite considerably. Not only do you gain life, but you also get a 3/3 to kill off/defend against their early aggressive critters. It is also not that bad when you're playing aggro yourself, since in aggro (ironically in aggro you don't care about your own life) you'll want to win the race for damage dealt, this card slows your enemy's progress and it's 3/3 body can go to the offense next turn. I love this card.

i laugh heartily at life gain abilities ever since i discovered how god awful those "gain 1 life whenever you cast a ___ spell" artifacts were (see Wurm's Tooth). im sure no one would complain if this was just a vanilla 3/3 for 3. i guess adding the 3 life is a little bonus, but pretty much irrelevant.

I wish they had made it a 3/3 token priced at either or so populate could abuse the life gain.

Normally I would dismiss the lifegain as some pointless part of a card, as in the case of Angel's Mercy which does that AND ONLY THAT but when you get 3 life from a 3/3 creature at 3 CMC it isn't negligible, i can see this guy being used despite the presence of more competitive 3 drops available to Selesnya players... *cough*Loxodon Smiter*cough*
@ToAsTy42o its surprising the amount of value you get over time with those artifacts especially in a control deck where slowing down your opponent counts considerably towards your chances of winning...

awesome for common! a 3/3 beater for 3cmc is cool and the life gain helps to win the race.

Not quite Kitchen Finks, but still decent, I'd say 3.5/5

Meh card is meh. It does have enough power to wipe out a moderate creature and enough toughness to withstand many smaller creatures. The lifegain basically makes it two ways of stopping an opponent for a while but this card just isn't that super. I'm sure it will be fine in Standard but I don't see this seeing much use in any other format, besides maybe pauper.

A 3 mana for 3/3 common that nets you three life in Limited? Yes please.

In limited this just owns! Drop it on turn 3 and basically negate the damage you've been dealt durind the last two turns. It's also a good blocker in the early game and if it manages to get through in an attack, it damages the opponent significally.
EDIT: It is also a common, so you can get multiples in your deck to give you a good amount of life gain.

Why is this rated higher than Cathedral Sanctifier? For the same converted mana cost you get the same amount of power/toughness PLUS 6 more life!

"Who's got two thumbs, four legs, and is seeing serious standard play? This guy!"
It's a shame that he can't be populated without the help of something like Cackling Counterpart, but this guy will net you 6 life and a 3/3 creature for 1GW if you've got Trostani, Selesnya's Voice in play.

I find it really funny that everyone who claims this is the best card ever and those who claim it is the worst get low ratings. Only the people who actually say that it's decent get high ratings.
I love this card. It might not be the most powerful 3-drop, but the fact that this is common is fantastic.

Have you noticed all the centaurs in this set are 3/3? This one's not a token, but it's still 3/3.

Initially I rated this guy 4.5/5. Now I think I was underrating him. I thought this guy was just a beast in Limited, but he's also kicking ass in Standard! He has just about the right body for a 3-mana creature, and the lifegain, as we've seen with Thragtusk, is actually pretty damn relevant. I'm bumping my rating up half a star to 5/5 because he's a common creature that can actually win games in Constructed.

Interesting compared to Selkie Hedge-Mage. The Hedge-Mage is 2/2 but gives you the same effect in mono green. Splash white, and you get a 3/3 body instead.

4/5 because it has 3 power it can trade with a lot of creatures in current standard + the life is an icing on the cake

Really solid card.
Look at it like blightning. It's an okay card if you take away the extra colour (white here, red from bligtning) and the life gain/damage, but when you add them, they become really strong.
This card is extremely good against aggro deck. You get a 3/3 blocker which can kill a lot of aggro creatures, and the life gain basically resets all the damage your opponent may have done.
My only gripe with this is that it kind of crapped on drafts by being too strong :P Good commons are always welcome though. I'm not a huge fan of draft anyway :P This card rocks in pauper and peasant.
