My first games of magic were with the free demo 10th ed. pre-cons on MTGO and it made me think that this cycle was SOOO good. No more.

stop wizards...please...please stop
how about this instead CMC=0 "Whenever you cast a --COLOR-- spell, you gain 1 life."
It would probably still get below 2.5 stars, buts its still better than this tragedy

I can understand why they print this because of the whole "new people think this is good," but couldn't Wizads at least make this cycle common instead of uncommon.....

I really, really wish they would stop printing this junk, or at the very least make it a common. I hate it when one of the uncommon slots in a booster pack is wasted on one of these stupid lucky charms. R&D, are you listening?

It's quite reasonable that they print this garbage. Yes, it appeals to new players or to ones who can't afford to buy a fully-competetive deck. Not everyone has conditions to play in international tournaments, magic is also played in casual circles, and there are people who don't have enough cards that fit their decks so they fill them with such cards. Besides, worse cards must exist, because they are a point of reference on which you can say which cards are good. And this cycle is uncommon, because of limited. It would cause even more complaints if we were overwhelmed by them during drafts, now we only sometimes run across those cards during drafts. Well, that's just my humble opinion... and sorry for my English.

I can respect this cycle. It will never be competitive, but it has it's place with beginners. I only wish it were common instead.

What would be a better version of this card:
Wurm's (something) Legendary Land Wurm's (something) enters the battlefield tapped. {T}: Add {G} to your mana pool. Whenever a player plays a green spell, you may gain 1 life.
Hey look, I solved your problems. This card gets played, it's legendary so it can't be broken, and it produces mana for the same color that causes you to gain life. Now there's a REASON to ever play it.

Bad card is bad. If you're putting this in your deck, you're wasting a slot. To get maximum mileage out this card, you'd have to drop it early, instead of summoning a creature or mana ramping, either of which will benefit you much more. The lifegain these things gives is insignificant anyway.. In my UG self mill deck, I can easily get 30+ life with just one casting of Gnaw To The Bone; not even considering the flashback. Now THATS lifegain.

I could see the complaints about them being uncommon, but just because it takes up an uncommon slot in a booster is no reason to downrate it

Why don't they print these that say whenever a green creature enters the battlefield, gain one life? I mean, it would be broken alongside elves.

@ atemu1234 Essence Warden costs less, is a creature itself and as a bonus is even the creature type you specified. If you want a two-drop lifegain engine for your elf deck I suggest Wellwisher.

I was quite surprised to see so much negativity in the comments.. What is wrong with this card?? I fail to see the problem. Imagine I play 2 of these in my white/green against an opponent with green, that's like 2 life for every 2 out of 3 cards played! that's a lot of health! also Archangel of Thune gets to power up my creatures almost every turn because of that. I have no idea what's up with everyone hating this so much... I would give it 4/5
