Good card in terms of combat. Being able to take out a creature with a toughness of three and gaining three life is fairly decent.

Not as bad as its current rating. 3/5 for plenty of green/white support, though without the 3 life gain he kinda sucks.

I love how cards say "When this creature is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, ." Because this guy will be going to your graveyard all the goddamn time.

Centaur meat must be really healthy.

The flavour is that he gives his life to protect the life of others. Often population is keyed in to life totals in magic, thematically. So the centaur dies defending the innocents and they go on to have productive lives increasing your life total (roughly speaking).

Tarpan's larger, sentient cousin. I don't really get the flavor, though. Are the people behind him going to eat him after he gets killed defending them? With one toughness he won't last long- they all know it. No wonder he looks back with a somewhat suspicious glance..
