I put a 5 because I can, and because this card is going to get abused every which way when Scars of Mirrodin comes out.

A colorless deck looks like a strong option once alara rotates out of standard.

Got this pulled on me on turn 1 once...Brutal. Followed by a turn 2 Crucible of Worlds and Strip Mine, but that's another story X_X

Hey, guess what? Here's Scars. Format broken wide open? Nope.

This card is powerful enough for vintage artifact decks. Frequently dropable on the first turn with mishra's workshop and any other acceleration like the moxes, or a sol ring. These decks used to run Juggernaut (there was nothing better!) and this is a clear improvement. Sure, you would prefer your Tangle Wires, or trinisphere first turn, but this combines the price increase mechanic that is necessary to win, with your actual win condition!

This card is incredibly nasty towards multicolor cards which are generally undercosted due to the complexity of their mana costs. In addition to fixing their mana, opponents are forced to ramp up into more mana to pay for spells, or slow-roll them until they can remove the golem.

Hey people: Scars came. It had a 5/5 trample for BlackBlackBlackBlack with a BONUS, a 1-mana any-color hard removal spell, a free counterspell, something that gives creatures +2/+2 for 1WhiteWhite, and 3 yes 3 Swords that were capable of completely wrecking almost any deck, along with a version of poison so good it had to be banned in Modern. Where was this guy? Waiting in line behind 200 other, better 4-drops, including one so good it was banned everywhere but eternal formats. So, this didn't blow open standard. Scars did that itself.

I still can't understand why he's a fifty cent card. Must have been worldwake fever for Jaces? I don't think his reprint in Archenemy had anything to do with it either.
He's very playable, make no mistake.

I have been trying to make a Heartless Summoning's deck for a while, but I completely forgot about this card.

It'd put the deck on a whole new level, since this guy will most-likely cost 2. The deck will have an assortment of Artifact creatures as it is, so we'll see if it works out (Like Solemn Simulacrum, Perilous Myr, Myr Superion, and Phyrexian Soulgorger). The obvious problem is the fact that I can't win without the enchantment. It's a good thing there's barely any enchantment removal played in Modern.

I was going to put 4 stars, but realized that I had to increase it by 1.

-Sees play in Vintage
-Sees play in Legacy
-Can be dropped T2 pretty easily and T1 with good hands
-Less than a dollar
-Fun, beefy, but not broken in casual

One of my absolute favorite creatures. Almost anything I run in legacy runs him in the deck or the sideboard (if it has fast enough mana.)

Hey, I just put in a search for creatures and sorted by community rating, and guess what was on top? THIS.
